A free short story on amazon is something I expect to be light and fun. I don't expect in 11 pages to be squirming in my seat wondering what will happen.
When a woman finds herself kidnapped and thrown in the trunk of a car her experience is shocking and unpleasant to put it mildly. Her calm for the most part made me wonder where the story would go, on edge as I knew it had to lead to some big event and then when the twist came the supernatural twist made me squirm and had it been a movie I'd be...more

Kimberly Raiser's "A Pound of Flesh" sneaks up on you for the first two thirds of the story before unleashing its master plot. The only complaint would be that, once the cat's out of the bag, you're left wanting to know more details that what's actually appears. By then, however, it's too late, and Ms. Raiser gracefully takes her bow and exits the stage. A diabolically clever if short little read.
Kimberly Raiser's A Pound of Flesh is a short story of chilling terror. Kimberly's The Family Bones showcased her focus on the macable.
Kimberly has the most interesting covers, click on my review of The Family Bones to see that cover. She is a talented new author.
This is a very quick but entertaining read.
I recommend it.

a Pound of Flesh was possibly one of the most strange things I've read in a while. Odd, perhaps, more than strange. Just odd.
I don't think I liked it. I almost appreciated the concept, and I did enjoy the 'big reveal' so to speak, at the end, but then even that was ruined for me by the very final paragraph.
It just didn't leap out at me. I can't say I'd be recommending it.

Talk about WOW factor!!!
"A Pound of Flesh" is one creepy and terrifying short that keeps the victim (and reader) wondering what the devil is going on until the end...but by the time they realize the 'why’ of where they are…it is beyond too late for a savior and no one save the tormentor can hear and savor the screaming.

You have to be pretty much sick to like this book. It was horrifying. Disgusting.
What. Was. I. Thinking?!
I am now scarred for life.
People, do not read this. Like, ever.
Unless short, gruesome, paranormal entity kidnapper stories please you.
