I have never hated a final book in a series as much as I hated this one. I was truly loving this light, romantic, and adventurous, multi-award winning fantasy trilogy. Finally I was onto book three, the last one. It was heartwrenching, main characters die all over the place, the romance is piling up, the blood is every-freakin'-where...it's beyond fabulous! It is soap opera galore, you have no clue what is going to happen next. You have hunches but damnit if the book doesn't stab you in the ass...more

Okay, so based on the ending, I'd love to give this book one star, because I can't possibly think of a worse ending. Firt of all, I didn't really like getting Matt and Rochelle's perspectives...Ethan and Isabel's and even Arkarians POV's were much more interesting. I also felt like Isabel and Ethan's parts in this last book were too small, and Matt's transition from a clueless no one to the leader who knew everything and had every power in the world..was way over the top.
The story in itself was...more

This was an entertaining end to the trilogy. The two POVs offered in this book are Matt and Rochelle. They aren't my favorite narrators out of the lot. I kind of missed the characters from the two previous books, but I can see why the focus shifted to these two.

There's not a lot of time travel since the conflict comes to a head in the present. I didn't really miss it that much, though, since this series has never really spent much time on the actual time travel.

I tried not to get hung up on a...more

*****BIG SPOILER ALERT!!!!*****
I wish with all my heart that I could give this a 5 but I just can't. If this didn't have one of the most abrupt endings in all of the books I've ever read in my life, than this would definitely be 5 stars.

This third and final installment had the fast-paced action from the second book along with the romance from the second book, but after I finished the last sentence, I literally said outloud "what the f---?!" There was definitely a last chapter missing somehow......more

kitabın sonundan nefret ettim hala kendime gelemedim. böyle hayal gücü olmaz ola. isyan ediyorum yazara. nası kıyarsın o çifte esas kızı öldürürsün. 1 yıldız vericem son 20 sayfa yüzünden... kıyma kitaba özde diyorum. çok sürükleyici bir seri ama böyle biticeğini bilseydim son kitabı yada son sayfaları okumazdım. bütün hayallerimi yıktın Marianne isyan ediyorum sana

The span between the time I read the second book and the last book is years because I wasn't able to find a copy of The Key in any of the bookstores I went to. Alas I finally found a copy and when I started reading it, I was taken again to a whole new world created by Marianne Curley. I didn't mind that the writing suited an eight-year-old reader, this is a book for children anyway. I didn't mind that the different love stories weren't dwelled much into because this isn't a romance novel in the...more

I wasn't sure if I should give this three or four stars. I'd like to give it three and a half, but that's not an option.
The Key is told through the eyes of Matt and Rochelle. I see why the author decided to tell this part of the story from their point of view, but I really missed seeing the story through the eyes of Ethan, Isabel, and Arakarian.
One of my favorite parts was the ending. It was fast-paced, and a lot was resolved. But, at the same time, it left a lot unexplained. There are many loo...more

***Read at your own risk!! Spoliers!!***

My first thoughts after I finished this book was WHAT. NO! ETHAN. WHY?
My heart ached, and still does, for Ethan. (My favorite character!) Everything about that ending was NOT OK. Ethan and Rochelle finally "got together" and then Marduke had to come and ruin such a beautiful moment. I literally AWED when Ethan ran after her in the woods and threw her gloves off, then put her hands on his face, and the kiss. It was perfect but far too short lived. I guess t...more

BEST BOOK EVER - BEST TRILOGY YET TO COME - GREAT UNIVERSE

I don't have words to describe this trilogy, what it ment to me, what it made me feel and how would I spent my days daydreaming about it.

I was obsessed with this trilogy! even had a forum (since the firt book came out) to talk about the next books, characters, fanfiction and other!

GREAT book for all ages, and I hope others have the opportunity to explore this great universe!

Also thank you again Marianne Curley for answering the email I...more

This was the last part of the Guardians Of Time -series and it was big thing for me. I started to read this series when I was 13 years old and now I'm pretty soon 15 and somehow I've been growing and leveling up with these "kids" in this book. I was scared about this one because I heard this was a really awful book but those people who told that.. You were liars! The Key was exciting and amazing. It was scary and SO FREAKING CATCHY. I wanted just to read this all the time and do nothing else! I...more

I really LOVED this whole series and going into this last and final book it didn't let me down. Right from the start it captures and keeps your attention until the very end...but that's where it really falls flat. I wish Marianne would have put in an epilogue. It ends with something to be desired. Your left with so many questions on what happens with the rest of the characters and how they're going to put everything back together in their world. It leaves you with a sense of loss and the 'and th...more

This is the third book in the Guardians of Time Trilogy.

This trilogy is a classic good versus bad + plenty of superpowers + lots of budding new love/relationships. Oh yeah, and of course...time travel.

A-ma-zing! Loved it. Funny, in I Am Number Four, I complained that I didn't like love stories in books. Well, the Guardians of Time Trilogy has LOTS of love going on. It seemed like every character! But, it didn't bug me at all. I'm not going to say too much about the story. One thing I liked was...more

I thought that this book was a really good end to this series. This was such a new and unique series, unlike any other book I have ever read. This was a fun series to read for that reason alone, but it had many other reasons to be as good as it turned out to be. Some reasons are how well the characters are made and the conflicts between them are so addicting! Another is the story alone was just incredible and I am so glad I found these books and read them! The only problem I had was the ending,...more

I agree with quite a few reviews for this book. Up until the end of this book I would have given it a 4 star rating. After the end of the book I would give it a 1 or less. I don't mind the death at the end of the book, I just mind the abruptness of it.....one of my favorite characters loses their "soul-mate" and is left heartbroken, then NOTHING. As another person commented, I turned the page to see if there was an epilogue or, well, anything at all. Instead that was it.

So my question is this......more

Dziś rano skończyłam trzecią książkę z cyklu Marianne Curley The Guardians of time. Składa się on z 3 części: The Named, The Dark i The Key.

Czytałam wcześniej inną książkę, pierwszą normalną książkę fabularną po...more

The Key

The key is the last book in the guardians of time series by Marianne Curley. I have not been able to read the first two books in this series. So it took me a little while to get what is going on. But when I caught on, I was on a wild ride that only stopped at the end of the book. So there are three immortals, two brothers and a sister and the sister is evil and wants to take over the world and its realms. Lorain is one of the brothers who are trying to stop his sister from wo...more

I despised the ending to this book with every fiber of My being.
I adore the Trilogy, but if ratings were based solely on the ending, it would be One Star.
Now, don't get Me wrong, for Anyone Who doesn't mind a Far-From-Happy-Ending, it isn't all that bad. But if, Like Myself, You prefer a Happily-Ever-After (Or even just a Happy-For-Now), then I would strongly advise stopping just short of the end, and make the rest of the story up in Your head.

A chudák Ethan... Pochybuju, že se s tím někdy smířím :(

Honestly, the book for some reason got slightly immature.

The characters i mean.

Even the aduts are acting stupid!

And i mean isn't Lorian an IMMORTAL?

shouldn;t he be able to kill all those demons with like a swish of his finger?!?

And how pathetic was that ending when the dagger went to his throat?

And what of Lady Arbealla?

wtf!? Does she stay wit hDartemis?

I dislike the whole cliff ending, especially if this is the last book. I disliked Rochelle dying, if anything Dillon should of died, he hardly d...more

This conclusion starts with a dramatic meeting between the immortals that in turn gives the Named increased abilities. As the Named come to grips with the increased power they must locate a key that will change the course of the battle. Surprisingly there is only one solid example of time travel in this book before Matt is sent off to train and hone his skills to play his part in the prophecy. When Matt returns there is one more mission in time, to the lost city of Atlantis where Matt come face...more

Okay, so I really liked this series and was excited to finish the third book in the trilogy. That said, I was disappointed by this book. I don't know if it is just because I didn't identify with Matt and Rochelle as well as the other characters and it was told from their point of view, because I still liked the way the story played out... until the last couple of chapters. I finished the book and had to go back and read the last pages again because I thought I had missed something. They story do...more

In the last installment Guardians of Time trilogy, Matt and Rochelle become crucial to fulfilling the prophecy of the Named. Matt realizes that his is the son of the immortal, and Rochelle struggles with her new found powers, which the rest of the group doesn't trust. With disagreements as well as tension the Guards search and try to figure out who the traitor is.

I LOVED this book. It was a little dark, but ultimately a great ending to the series. I like how every book that she has is seen throu...more

“For a moment Ethan simply stares. Before him is the monster of his nightmares: his sister's murderer, the beast who robbed him of his greatest love. How easy, how fulfilling would it be to take Marduk's life? But the arrow in Ethan's fingers slips to the ground.
"No. even revenge is too great an honor for you."
As the night falls and brings an end to this long day of darkness, Marduk inhales his last staggered breath and his body turns to stone.”
