My siblings and I always watch Avatar: The Last Airbender every Saturday when I was in high school. I admit that I love Aang and the gang, and their reckless journey to study all four elements to defeat the Fire country. Because of some television issue at the present, I don't have the chance to watch Aang and the gang again. Sad to say, I miss most of their adventures already and I don't have any idea what I read inside of this book.

This collection, subtitled The Lost Adventures, will be popular with hardcore fans, probably teenagers more than anyone else. I realize many adults, or at least adults who are young at heart, are fans of the series. I count myself among them but I am not as fond of this collection as I am of the animated series. Each of the stories take place in between the episodes, so there was a great deal of downtime and none of the youthful drama which is the main reason why I enjoyed the series so much. So

I don't mince words when I say that Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of my favorite animated shows in any consideration, and I know many people, younger and older than myself, who love the series as well.

A must have for fans of the much-loved animation series. As a huge fan myself, I simply adored every single page. The attention to detail, both visual and contextual, is just amazing.
The cover gives off an almost "fancomic" aura about it, so I was pleasantly surprised to see how "official" it all seemed, and that many of the comics were written by people who worked on the show.
This fun-packed volume really helps to fill the void of the end of the seri More...

As a huge fan of Avatar, I decided to get this little collection of comics after The Art of the Animated Series was out of stock at the moment.
One thing that you have to keep in mind while reading it is that it _is_ The Lost Adventures. Little snippets of small scenarios on the journey and not anything that crucial to the story. If you haven't watched this show before, I wouldn't recommend getting it.

I... am not all that impressed. This collection of stories is definitely cute, don't get me wrong, but it adds very little. There were a couple stand-outs - 'Relics' and 'Combustion Man on a Train' (despite the latter's ridiculous title) added nicely to Aang's character in little ways. Mostly, though, these read like brief vignettes and don't contribute that much to the overall story of the show - which is good, I suppose, since it prevents the show from feeling like there were plot holes. I picked this selection because my son is huge Avatar fan. I've watched some of the cartoon episodes and the movie with him but I can't say I have followed it well. I can't think of anytime I have read an Avatar book either.
Knowing that, I thoroughly enjoyed this graphic novel. This is a collection of stories that have not been previously published. They touch on parts of the Avatar story but do not tell it.
I will say it helps to have some background knowledge of the characters and More...

Thanks to NetGalley!
I'm not a fan of US hype when it comes to cartoons. A lot of the more recent American cartoons make me cringe. I grew up on Looney Tunes, Animaniacs, He-man, Transformers, Care Bears and a bunch of other things people probably don't remember.
My brothers and family friends had an Avatar phase and I reluctantly joined them to watch a few episodes on DVD. What can I say? I'm a sucker for goofy stories with a little action. Despite my grumbles, I came to More...

So the premise behind this book is a collection of all the stories that were rather hard to come by in their first runs. Scattered about in magazines and other children's books made them pretty hard to come by if you didn't know where to look. Thankfully instead of leaving us out in the dust they packaged them all together and us fans get to enjoy them all together now.
That being said this is definitely not a book for anyone not familiar with the show. I say this because funny enough t More...

Are you a fan of the animated "Avatar: the Last Airbender" (not the movie)? If you are then this book is for you. Aang and the gang return for a series of 26 short comics, some of which have never been published before. The book is dived into three sections to match the TV show--water, earth, and fire.

This is a great book for any Avatar: The Last Airbender fan. (I'm a major fan.) It collects all the Avatar comic shorts published in various Nickelodeon magazines and the DVDs, plus has some extra new comics. All the shorts take place over the course of the TV series and are broken up by season (Water, Earth, Fire). Some shorts fill in the gaps (how did Zuko and Mai get back together?), and some shorts are just for fun (King Bumi vs. Toph, anyone?).

For anyone who doesn't know, Avatar: The Last Airbender was a show about a boy named Aang and his friends, Katara, Sokka, and Toph. They three nations (Air has been wiped out): Fire, Earth, and Water. The Fire Nation had taken over and was waging a war for domination over the other three nations. Aang is the avatar, the one who is meant to master all four elements and keep peace in the world.

This book collects all the Avatar: The Last Airbender comics from Nickelodeon magazine, plus over 70 pages of comics never before printed. It's a short story collection, set at points throughout the course of the TV series. Many of the stories are by members of the Avatar production staff, and they all feel very much like part of the TV series.
Like most tie-in projects, the stories don't really impact the course of the series at all. Most of them are brief incidents that could have h More...

The hype: Before the live-action movie of Avatar: The Last Airbender, there was the animated series on Nickelodeon. Now, with the new series coming out soon, Dark Horse Comics has released a collection of short stories that tell of the adventures and mishaps of Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and all of their friends and enemies as they struggle to defeat the Fire Lord.

This collection leans heavily toward cute, fluffy anecdotes about the Gaang at play between episodes. Of those, I think my favorite is "No Benders Allowed," both for giving one of my favorite secondary characters a cameo and for the awesome hats. Even the stories that show the Gaang training or fighting are generally pretty light--not that that's a bad thing. "Private Wang Fire" in particular had me snorting out my nose. Other stories add tasty trivia tidbits, like the fact t

Avatar: The Last Airbender (The Lost Adventures) is a collection of out-of-print, fan-favorite comics that have previously been published in Nickelodeon Magazine or packaged with the Avatar DVDs. There are also more than seventy new pages of comics included in the volume as well, which brings the total of stories included within this book to twenty six. Many of the artists that worked on the original animated series were a part of the top notch team that created these comics. Each of the stories

I love the Avatar series! I personally think it's one of the most thought out and beautiful cartoons on tv right now. So when I saw the opportunity to read this I just had to try, luckily Dark Horse and NetGalley let me and I'm so happy they did!
This is a must for any Avatar fan! These stories take place in between the episodes and are great additions to the show. I admit there were times where I wanted to know how they did certain things and a lot of those questions were answered here More...

Premise: This volume collects the A:TLA comics that were previously published in several Nickelodeon branded magazines, as well as many which were never published. They take place concurrently with the animated series, as a series of short stories that fit in-between the episodes.
I adored this. It's a great assortment, from short two-page gag comics, to longer, in-depth stories. Twenty-eight stories total, including both stories I had read in the Free Comic Book Day sample. They are More...

I loved the television series and i love this book.
I highly reccomend this book to those who are missing their fix of aang and the gang.
it is a tie in to the series. so if you haven't watched the series this book will be a bit confusing to you but its full of humour and it follows along the series. you may even watch the series after this too.
anyway this graphic novel of sorts is full of... well... lost adventures. short side stories to the main adventure of the television seri More...

I've previously read another graphic novel from Avatar which was supposed to be the original story, but it was actually based on the movie which was not good at all. Plus, it had the characters appearance changed so when i got this one from NetGalley, i had my doubts of what i will see.
As it seems, this one is created of some of the original creators of the series and some others new ones. It has 4 parts (Book 1, Book 2, Book 3, Bonus Stories) with each one of them includes sho More...

The other day I came across The Last Airbender: The Lost Adventures on Netgalley, via Dark Horse Comics, and instantly requested it because, though I’m not really a comic book person, I had originally wanted the comics for the series, and this comic book has bonus materials! Of course, I highly enjoyed it; the adventures are funny/interesting and gave me a new perspective, making me want to watch the entire series/movie all over again (and I probably will soon). I really did enjoy this comic b

Overall I enjoyed this collection of short comics following around the cast and characters of Avatar: The Last Airbender. However, the broad range of art styles made for a somewhat disconnected feel. I most enjoyed the stories where the art closely mimicked the original animation, or where the art was a bit more realistic. Thankfully, those entries made up most of the volume.

Avatar: The Last Airbender fans only—you’ll be totally lost if you’ve never seen the show before. But it’s nice to have all the randomly published comics in one volume, and the writing is solid throughout, although the art can be variable. But the stories illustrated by Gurihiru are absolute joys to read, and well worth reading for.

This is the PERFECT addition to Avatar canon. While not all of the art appealed to me aesthetically, the stories and character voices were pitch-perfect, and I have never cackled so loudly in my life. If you love the series, you MUST read this.

Really adorable stories, lots of cute Appa pictures. I was actually surprised by how closely it cleaved to the tone of the show! Really glad I picked this up, and definitely looking forward Gene Yuang's new book in January!

A collection of neat stories, though some I'd already seen. A couple of them had mediocre art (in my opinion) but the majority were solidly executed. Would've been fun to see some of the stories actually animated into a show.

I love Avatar: The Last Airbender -- the animated version at least. Funny, entertaining, dramatic, all-around good.
This book? Not so much.
This is a collection of Airbender "Lost Adventures" comic tales -- usually about 4 pages long -- from various Airbender comics and packaged with some of the DVDs. It's all non-canon material (or, at least, all-new stories), but that length doesn't allow a lot of sophistication, and they vary from simple jokes to humorous takes o More...

My kids are huge Avatar fans, so when I saw this title available on NetGalley I just had to request it.
Unfortunately, the digital copy we received was hard to read. We tried it on my Nook and on the computer but unless we had it zoomed in as close as possible on the computer we could not read it easily. As you can imagine, getting four kids, ages ranging from 3 to 11, to sit in front of a computer screen to read something is a bit of a challenge.
