Desperate Desires by Terri Wolffe
Historical Romance e-book – Feb. 6th, 2011
4 stars

Desperate Desires is a surprisingly erotically charged romance set in Regency times.

Lucinda Davenport is in desperate straits. She must conceive an heir to save her lands from her greedy relatives. She devises a wild plan, to abduct the handsome rake, Lucien Bradford, Duke of Carlsborough. But can a man held against his will succumb to her charms or will she fall prey to this master of seduction?

I like the cover to this, thought I'd point that out. I like that Lucinda's hair is a brilliant contrast to the sheets and her skin. The red hair is a fairly important attribute since its not an 'ordinary' color paired with her eyes in the story.

The synopsis is what caught my attention. It doesn't mention a few pertinent details (she's married), and some of what it talks about is glossed over in the novella itself (there's really no indication of her dislike or interest in the ton). Where the st

Desperate Desires is one hell of a sensual ride from start to finish, hot and spicy!

When her husband, the Earl, throws up an idea to kidnap a peer and seduce him to impregnate her Lucinda chooses Lucien Brandford, fourth Duke of Carlsborough. Little did sh

Imagine being at the mercy of a woman who is using you only for sex. Sounds like every man's fantasy, right? Duke Lucien Brandford is shocked when he is kidnapped in front of a Gentleman's club. He threatens the kidnappers and vows to exact revenge. When he finally realizes his kidnapper's motives, will he cooperate?

Desperate Desires is a fun, hot, sexy read. Lucinda Davenport is a woman who goes after what she wants; and what she wants is Lucien Brandford. I loved Lucinda's spunk and a

Spicy indeed and I believe I just might understand the sweet part as well. Talk about the ultimate fantasy of being the dominator and then the dominated! Spicy hot! Where’s the hose?! The WATER hose that is, because I’m on fire after reading some toe curling scenes (practically the ENTIRE book)!

I have no clue what I thought I was going to be reading when I said I’d review Desperate Desires. Call me shallow but it was honestly the novel’s cover that grabbed my attention. Seeing that prompted the

Rush into the breathless erotic Regency world in romance author Terri Wolfe’s contagiously enticing novella, DESPERATE DESIRES which take readers on a scandalous peril of kidnapping intrigue and the desperate desires of an untamable love.

There is nothing like a strung conning unconventional female lead in a romance book. Lady Lucinda Davenport is that in spades. She is more comfortable running her estate manner and dealing with numbers than to be bothered with the ton. There is only one th

Lucinda Davenport is desperate for an heir. Her husband, who is much older and sickly has been unable to sire one and with his failing health, they are at risk of losing their estate to his greedy family. Her husband, who is not unkind, understands the dire situation that they're in and comes up with a plan for Lucinda to kidnap a peer of her choice to impregnate her and hopefully give her the son she so desperately needs. Lucinda chooses Lucien Brandford, fourth D

The cover is a standard portrayal of a romance novel. You know ... sexy, muscular man in a romantic embrace with a voluptuous, half-dressed woman. I'm a fan of the red on the cover, though. =)

The story started off uniquely enough with the abduction of a Duke. It didn't take long for the storyline to sizzle. Every time you flip a page, the two main characters are having a go. Speaking of which ... I had never heard sexual intercourse be referred to as a "tup," being "tupped" or "tupping.

DESPERATE DESIRES written by Terri Wolffe

How many ways are there to capture your true love’s heart?

Lady Lucinda Davenport has come up with a brilliant plan to save her husband’s family from taking her estate after his death – get pregnant and produce an heir. This is a great plan and would work except her husband is not well and unable to provide her with what she needs to make this happen. The backup idea is even better, kidnap a man who has no interest in a relationship and have him impregnate

Shelves: kindle, 2011, novella
Being a novella, Desperate Desires is a pretty quick read, but there is a lot packed into this short tale. I liked both of the characters. Lucinda and Lucien are good together. I liked how the Duke fell so hard for Lucinda. The love scenes are very steamy and well written. I was surprised at the open frankness toward sex among the characters. You don't usually see that in historical novels. I thought it was an interesting twist on things. I also enjoyed the premise of the tale, the woman kidnapp ...more

This was an erotic historical romance in which our heroine kidnaps the hero to hold him prisoner until she becomes pregnant. She needs a baby to be an heir to her elderly and ill husband's estate. She never expected to fall in love with the Duke she kidnaps. And he is not willing to leave her after he has fallen in love with her. While the story takes a lot of liberty with history, the erotic elements are very well done. This was a very hot read!
