Masa cuman gara2 mirip?
Cerita 4 - Destruction: paling misterius, apa hubungan beast itu sama Count D

Chilling and enthralling, and strangely, sometimes extremely cute and funny! These stories are all really rather predictable in the end, but magnificently drawn, and frightening in spite of their forgone conclusions. I liked the last chapter of this book in particular, it held a mirror up to society's disregard for the balance of the natural world, and echoed a haunting and lonely consequence for our rash negligence. I adore Count D! He's so cheerfully mysterious, and so chillingly unaffected by ...more
Pet Shop of Horrors is a manga by Matsuri Akino. It is set in the heart of Chinatown. Enter Count D's pet shop, a place where you can find a multitude of pets. These pets can range from cats and dogs to the most exotic, but they often will take a form to match a person's deepest desires. The mysterious man running the shop will be willing to sell you these animals, but under contract. These contracts often have three terms, varying with each individual pet. If any of these circumstances are brok ...more

Recommends it for: anyone who enjoy's manga
This was another very exciting instalment to this series. I loved the different tales all in one book. The creatures are constantly getting odder and odder too. I’m very intrigued by Count D. And I want to know more about him. I want that mystery to be resolved soon, I have all these theories going through my head about him and I would just like to get some answers.

I thought the tale of the kitten named lady was sweet and had a good message in it about greed. I also loved the story about the me

It took me until this volume to notice that all the chapter titles start with 'D.' That brings to mind the names of The Endless, but don't let me digress. The chapters in this volume are: "Dragon," "Dice," "Delicious," "Destruction." D and the detective do a lot of bonding in the first and last stories. "Dice" may have been my favorite, but since there were cats I'm probably biased. "Delicious" had a mermaid and "Destruction" apparently had prehistoric time-travel. "Dragon" was actually a happy ...more
It has been years since I read this series but it still remains my favourite manga. I never really found it scary, to be honest, but the stories always interested me and it was always hard to put down. The art was mightily impressive and the stories were both compelling and well written but I don't think it belongs stored in the horror genre since it failed to scare me. I would highly recommend it to fans of manga who can appreciate amazing storylines as well as art that inspires you or to first ...more

I might have given the manga four stars - if I hadn't read it right after xxxHolic, a much better manga with a similar premise. PSoH is a real classic among manga, that's true, but it concentrates too much on the "guest starring" characters of the various short stories and not enough on Count D and Leon for my liking. The stories that are about D and Leon are great, the rest is too much about... morality and learning a lesson etc., they are not really scary or mysterious, despite this being a ho ...more
,Less like xxxHolîc than I first thought. And lost race under Greek isles.
Better than the first in the series. I love the dynamics between the pet shop owner and the cop who will not stop investigating him and his store. The pets were fantastic. I love that each chapter can just stand on its own as if it were a collection of short stories. It reminds me of the Gremlin movies that I loved watching when I was growing up. Horrific yet campy and silly.
I'm enjoying this series immensely. They're gory and chilling, with lessons to be taught throughout. I love the Count. In a weird way, he's kind of endearingly sadistic. And his bonding with Leon is beyond adorable!!

Uh. Heh. I digress.

Anyhow, just a quick thing - don't get attached to any characters in this book!!! They will die, and you will be sad.
While this is a brillant series, I found this particular installment to be a bit rushed and quite predictable. Perhaps the fact that the holidays are approaching perhaps blurred my views; I didn't think the segment had a true FEEL to it.
