Milrose Munce and the Plague of Toxic Fungus
by
Douglas Anthony Cooper (Goodreads Author)
This is the second gruesome volume in the Milrose Munce saga. The first, Milrose Munce and the Den of Professional Help, was #1 on both the Children's and Teen bestseller lists on Amazon, and received all sorts of pleasant reviews from newspapers and magazines around the world.

For the seditiously unpopular (among the living, anyway...the dead actually think quite highly of him) Milrose Munce, life couldn't be better. After triumph against an evil guidance counselor (and all around bad chap), he and his girlfriend Arabella are basking in the golden era of goodliness at school, firmly ensconced in their own superiority of all things wickedly weird. But life being what it is, something new and grotesquely horrific is quite literally growing in those not-so-hallowed halls...more
Milrose and Arabella are back. Still talking to the air in front of them. Or so most people think. Yup, they're still considered freaks and outcasts. The world at large still completely unaware of just how much the two did for them (if YOU don't know, STOP! See *Milrose Munce and the Den of Professional Help (Extended Edition)* - really otherwise this book will just remind you of a story told elsewhere and wouldn't you like to know?).

This book is not as good as its first book. While the story is good, there seems to be a bit of long windnessm. At times, the read felt a huge desire for the writer to just get on with it.
However, it was still amusing.
I think part of the problem is that the formula that made the first book so good is slightly changed here. Part of the charm of the first book was an interaction that is not as dominant in this second book. I also would have liked to see more of Kitty.

This second installment about Milrose Munce is just as enjoyable and entertaining as the first. It's witty, darkly humorous, and extremely disgusting in so many ways. My only complaint is that I would have liked more time with Arabella, Kitty and many of the ghosts because I love this world so much.
Short review: I didn't think this was anywhere near as good as the first book. Seems like it is trying too hard. I have up about half way through.
