Blind ex-SFPD detective Gabriel Sandilin1 has a problem with his lover leaving.

AUTHOR NOTE: This short story, first published in 2007, was the inspiration for the CRIMES & COCKTAILS Series. Portions of the story as you read here don't fit the eventual storyline that evolved when the series became a collaboration with mystery writer Josh Lanyon, but it's still a hot tal...more

I love Mexican Heat so much; and have been mourning over the fact that the partnership of Lanyon/Baumbach for the next book is no more, and there isn't even any news whether the book will ever have a sequel. So, when Sayang recommended me this short story, I was floored to even know that it existed.

While, as a fan of the boys, I find this story to be a some sort of consolation price, it's very very short to fulfill my thirst of wanting to know about their life, in the after. It only has one shor...more

Super short, but intensly hot quickie with the unbelievably sexy Antonio and the surly sexy Gabriel. Nice to see these guys again. Though, just as with Mexican Heat, not nearly enough.

First things first, I feel like this 'book' is a rip off. For one, it's just barely over 3,000 words so it's more like an excerpt than a 'book' and two, I think this book has more ads and other crap at the end than it actually does of the story. See, I read this on my Kindle for PC and there was only five pages of the actual story. Whereas there are eight and a half pages of other crap.

Anyways! I really enjoyed revisiting Gabriel and Antonio again. It's been a while since I read Mexican Heat so...more

This short story from Laura Baumbach is HOT, HOT, HOT! It made me want to go out and buy the next book featuring Gabriel and Antonio, so if that was its purpose, it succeeded. The story starts in the hot tub with Gabriel, who during a recent undercover assignment was blinded when a bag of heroin exploded in his face. After being forced to leave his job on the San Francisco police force because of his blindness, he finds comfort in the arms of his lover Antonio. Before Antonio has to leave on ano...more

4.5. This must be a sequel and i didnt realize it, as there seems to be a big back story that I now so want to read. These characters were amazing, even more so considering how short their story is. Antonio is gentle when he needs to be, and undersrands what Gabriel needs. Great couple.

It was great to read about Antonio and Gabriel from Mexican Heat again. I really hope to see another novel about them sometime in the future, but for right now this short reminds me how great they were and makes me want to reread Mexican Heat.

Very short story introducing characters from the author's upcoming book, "Mexican Heat." It has a one very hot sex scene, but nothing more. Hopefully, the novel will deliver on the potential here.
Allie
Short and added absolutely nothing to the enjoyable Mexican Heat story.

So the first thing I realized when I finished was how short this was for what I paid for it. I liked it, it was a very short snippet but steamy and hot!! I WANT MORE!

An erotic scene. Not sure it would have been enough for me if I hadn't already read Mexican Heat and invested in the characters.

short, sweet and hot - mostly one long sex scene, but nicely done.

No conflict, no plot, and too short.

A short scorcher which briefly satisfied my craving for the gorgeous Gabriel and Antonio, sexy.

Repetitive word choice but who cares.

Hot snack that I liked very much - with a crying eye...
