Read my review at Demon Lover's Books & More

Laurie over at www.bittenbyparanormalromance.com once suggested one of this author’s books, and I loved it! (The Ghost Hunter) Then I read a story in Entangled that was historical vampires, and had to read more.

I enjoyed this one. It's got a lot going on in it, which kind of works against it, but I like the fresh voice and the story enough that I didn't mind. The only thing I just did not like was the heroine's body betrayed her at every chance it...more

Plot:

It's the story of Meg, a nice Vicar's daughter, who is more than tempted than a mysterious stranger moves in next door. A hot neighbour. Grayson is a vampire who is hunting for clues about his missing niece and that leads him to Meg, but can she be a killer?

My thoughts:

Meg was nice and sweet, Grayson was very tempting, but a bit of an idiot sometimes too. But who can blame him, everything does point to Meg being a killer, and having killed more than once.

This is not only the story about h...more

I loved this book from start to finish. Grayson (Gray) was absolutely heart flutter worthy the entire time. He's dark and mysterious. He keeps secrets at all times. But he only keeps them to protect others. He has only come to town to find his niece, get her back and kill every last member of the family that has her because he is under the mistaken impression that they murdered his sister and kidnapped his niece. There is also the fact that he must find her before it is her time to go through t...more

I was sucked in...I do have to say that the first scene between Meg and Grayson had be going oh not one of "those cheesy" romance stories..But the intrigue, the deception, the "fall" (falling in love I mean) oh it was epic. Had me up till 2:30 in the morning knowing I had to go to work..and then sneeking it in during the day till I was done.

AHHHH!!!this is a paranormal romance I (heart)...It has the passion it has the scary moments it has the dawning of realization that they really do love each...more

3 stars == I liked it. I enjoyed the leads - the loyal, sweet, unconventional, improverished Vicar's daugter Meg and the handsome, mysterious and haunted Grayson - and I thought that the pair they had good chemistry together.

But now for my nits: for me the story ran just a bit too long. It was a 'lusty, no trusty' loaded with secrets that Meg and Grayson spend considerable energy trying to pry from each other, while at the same time trying to resist the unavoidable attraction they feel for the o...more

I wont' say this is a short story... because it comes under 200 pages but for those of you that read fast... I am sure you would consider this short! So, let's see what the world of Meg and Grayson have to offer us!

I have been offered this book for my honest thoughts... So here goes!

Mr. Lori has done it again with another phenomenal historical paranormal read. Ms. Lori gave me everything I needed for a hot and steamy, mysterious and yet compelling story that took me in from the first page all th...more

AUTHOR: This is my 1st time reading a book by author Lori Brighton. I found her writing style to be slow and repetitive during various scenes and situations within first half of the book. I must admit that I did not expect much. However, once Lori kicks into action, you cannot put the book down. All I can say is, “stay with it and keep reading”. She writes Historical Romance, Contemporary Paranormal Romance and Young Adult books.

SYNOPSIS -

WOW! There is a lot going on in this story. Just when you think you know what it's going to be all about, a dead body is found floating nearby. Threw me for a loop!!!

Tangled up in secrets, murder, and denial, Grayson and Meg travel a road that can only lead to each other. Grayson is fighting against his nature and can not believe that it is love he is feeling. Meg refuses to accept that she could love a man like Grayson due to occurances in her past. Their overwhelming attraction thrown in the...more

I liked the concept, but this book tried to be too much. Paranormal romance, historical romance, suspense romance, mystery romance. It was very repetitive (if I had to read that her hand combed through the hair near his neck, or that he rubbed the small of her wrist, or the word "Merde" which was said or thought on like every other page, I was going to throw my kindle!) and could have easily been shortened for a much tighter story. The murder mystery was almost pointless, in my opinion, and dist...more

A Night of Secrets could be shelved as both a historical romance and a paranormal romance. I enjoy both genres so having them together in one story makes me a happy reader!

Meg James is muddling through life trying to protect her family from indiscretion and scandal when she meets a mysterious stranger who proceeds to complicate her life even more. Grayson Bellamont, a 400 year old vampire, is looking for answers about the murder of his family and the whereabouts of his missing niece but he gets...more

When I picked up A Night Of Secrets to read I wasn’t sure what to make of it. A historical paranormal romance isn’t something I had read much of. In fact I don’t read a ton of historical to begin with. I just never have been able to get into most of the historical romances I have picked up in the past.

This book started out well with several chapters that kept me totally engaged. I enjoyed the suspenseful beginning and all the mystery surrounding the dead woman and the child that Meg rescues. Rig...more

After reading Lori Brighton's Wild Series, I was nervous and anxious to read more of her work. I have read other authors with one great series and the next series sucks. THIS IS NOT THE CASE! Lori Brighton brings you a new and hot series with A Night of Secrets! Meg is a fun and spunky leading lady who was easy to root for and even easier to identify with. Grayson fuels the fire in this paranormal historical and I couldn't get enough of him!

I have spent the last week consuming every Lori Brighto...more

So many good things with this book! I adored Grayson although sometimes he's very infuriating especially since I'm a person looking into his life from a third person point of view. He was handsome and alluring, and I enjoyed that it took his relationship with Meg to take time and evolve. Brighton did an extraordinary job slowly morphing their affection for each other. Meg was a little bit of a pain. Maybe it's because I'm jealous of her or maybe it was her naivete persona that would annoy me. St...more

First book by LB I've read and I will probably be reading a few more in the future. This book is a historical paranormal romance mix. In the past I've had issues with the mixing of these two genres, I prefer to keep those two separate. So I was a little nervous about reading because of my experience with mixing paranormal and historical in the past.

First the highlights, I really loved in the couple chapters where Meg lets loose for a little bit a...more

The book had an interesting plot but the main character was annoying.

She kept contradicting herself and it got to the point of enough-was-enough. She was trying to save her family but was useless and helpless. She then gets accused for murder and does nothing about it. She gets the solution to everything by marrying the leading man (who she lost her Virginity to) and then she regrets it.

What the hell.

Utterly fantastic. My two favourite genres cleverly and expertly brought together! The story was innocent, otherworldly, packed with heat ...everything. Not read something so good in a while just breathtaking. The writting style was classic an flawless, with a little edge here and there and lots of dramaticale flare while maintaining a great love story at its heart. Brilliant!

Really enjoyed this book. It was a little mix of everything - historical, paranormal, romance, intrigue... I enjoyed the build up of the relationship between Meg and Grayson... Having said that, there was a little too much, "he likes me, no, he doesn't" kind of thing going on... The waive ring back and forth got a little tiring... But all in all, an enjoyable read...

Really great read! Love the characters and how Gray and Meg fall in love, the fact that he is a tortured vampire with his past and how she helps him "feel" again. Good plot and story also great who done it mystery! I give it five stars I would love to see what happens to Grayson and Meg and Hanna! There was also some really steamy scenes in this book that I give an A!!

Brighton had me hooked on the first page, and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough! Brighton has the power of description down, bringing you into her world effortlessly, and making you fall in love with the characters. I will be on the look out for more amazing books from Lori Brighton~

I loved this book! It was fresh. The male lead was perfectly male, brooding, and original. This book is one of my all time favorites! The spin she put on this type of paranormal book was awesome and so believable!

Was a good quick read.

Kind of surprised about a vampire with a heartbeat? Had not read about that before
Was not too surprised about the wickedness of man however.
Might have to read some more of Brighton's books.

the story was good I thought. it was a little to harlequin romance for me. I should have figured based on the cover. it was free so I took a chance. I wont read it again though. too much detail in the love scenes.

I'm new to vampires and love. This was short, but it was fairly good. I think my reluctance in saying I LOVed it is that I'm new to vampires or any PNR, so I'm still suspending my disbelief.

Having really enjoyed Ms. Brighton's "Wild Heart", I snatched this one up when I saw it. Not only did the author's name catch my eye, but so did the beautiful cover. And the fact that it was a historical paranormal romance was just icing on the cake. I thought this was a great story, and I'm eagerly awaiting another one in this series. I fell in love with Grayson along with Meg. I thought the idea that Grayson was a soldier in a war to hide that he was a vampire was a unique one. I very quickly...more

This was quite a delightful and steamy read. Grayson is a hunky vampire who falls for a human girl named Meg. Meg is accused of murder, kidnapping and stealing Grayson's heart.

These two go through some really rough patches and some really steamy intimate scenes. Well written and descriptive story. I have read some of Lori Brighton's other work and really enjoyed Mind Readers. I really enjoy her vivid scenes.

This book will appeal to those who are looking for a little paranormal romance with vampi...more

As a child, thoughts of far-off places and adventure consistently kept Lori up late at night. After graduating high school, she came to the conclusion that there was no better way to seek adventure and nourish her love of history than to become an archaeologist. She went on to receive a degree in anthropology, but digging in the dirt during humid Midwestern summers wasn’t exactly as fun as she tho...more
