"As a fan of gorgeous firefighters, I'm thrilled with Rachel Kenley's smokin' hot hero, Miles Anderson. Passionate Heat is a hot and sensual read, well paced and with characters you'll grow to love. I'll be the first in line to buy the next book in this series!" Elle Amery

A troubled past.

Jillian got stuck in Glenway after a car accident and a mistake of a marriage kept her tied there. She is trying to make the best of it and move on and even start her own business. Miles gets called back to Glenway, his hometown that he escaped a decade ago and hasnt returned to, to help out with an arson investigation (his specialty since the army). Of course he runs into his highschool sweetheart Jillian and they finally communicate about the reasons things got messed up between them and also ...more
I wanted to like this one more than I did. It was a very intriguing story that did have me turning the pages at a good clip wanting to know what would happen next. But I had issues with the writing, which was good but in the end needed a good editor.

The dialog was extremely bad. Especially during the sex scenes. There were times that I rolled my eyes so hard that I gave myself headaches. It was fakey and forced and highly laughable. I think that also led to some of my dislike of the characters.
This is a freebie I got from and I'm glad I didn't pay for it. This is a simple story about childhood friends turned lovers, then grew apart, and reunited. It wasn't as erotic as I expected, and maybe with a lot of other stories I've read, this has by far the least conflict. It had a little mystery to it, but the plot was simple and formulaic. I was hoping for some tension between Miles and Jillian but they just picked up where they left off. The author's point of view a ...more
An erotic love story that embraces the need many people have for "Second Chances." Miles and Jillian were lovers and in love when he left for his military service--her father successfully prevented any correspondence between them, causing her to believe that he had just exited her life completely. Now, 10 years later, he is an arson investigator that has been wooed back to his hometown by his mentor and local fire chief to investigate three suspicious fires. He is also back in "Jillian territory ...more

Wow... this was a great book! I got this for free at I read this in less than 24 hours even though it was NOT a short read... I just could not put it down. I fell in love with both Miles Anderson and Jillian Wagner... It was a sweet story of 2 people that were meant to be together. Based on some of the reviews... I thought this book was going to be a dud, but it really was a nice book to read with lots of sexy scenes. Not to give anything away, but this is a HEA book... thes ...more
This story was hard to read because of grammatical errors throughout. A good editor and this tale easily rates 4 stars. Still, Passionate Heat was an okay read about small town high school sweethearts separated by misunderstandings and reunited some years later. Typical plot of bad boy makes good and returning to his hometown to show all the locals that he'd overcome his background beyond their wildest dreams. Ms. Kenley's story is filled with some pretty hot love scenes that might keep erotica ...more
The spelling errors. The grammar errors.

I dl'd this as a freebie from ARe.

The story was great, it flowed well, the characters were sweet and it was easy to relate to them.

The spelling errors. The grammar errors. These 2 things I took a star for each.

'She took a deep break.' Breath?
This was a sweet tale of old friends clearing the air and becoming good lovers. About a woman finding that she has a backbone. And about how one really could enjoy the life of a small town. Besides the grammatical errors that did throw me for a loop, this book was very good and I enjoyed it.
Intense and dramatic second chance romance. I totally enjoyed every minute of Miles and Jillian reconnecting and falling in love all over again, this time with an HEA in their future!
In the bus, catching up on a ton of freebies from year past. This one is actually ok for a one I didn't pay for. Not enough drama though.
Slow & boring... Sorry but it took me a while to finish and that is TOTALLY out of the norm for me
Good book. Nice plot. Not that different but I liked it.
