This is a totally sweet little book, subtitled A Lesson in Cheering Yourself Up. The combination of the quirky text and amazing photo illustrations really made me smile. A good read for a blue day.

Despite the fact that I didn’t much like this book, I’d still love to read The Blue Day Book for Kids: A Lesson in Cheering Yourself Up, which I’m sure uses many different examples than does this book, but I can’t get hold of a copy.

Gosh, I hate pop psych, but I’m stuck at home feeling ill (just as well since I’m also expecting a UPS package) and wondered if I’d look more favorably on something like this regarding feeling crummy physically. Nope; neither.

Cute animal photo...more

A sweet gift I received during a sad time in life. There's a version for children about lessons in making yourself happy and dealing with sadness. A simple picture book, amusing and yet so true.

I normally enjoy cute pictures of animals, and I usually need cheering up, so naturally I was drawn to this book when I spotted it on a cataloging shelf.

The photographs inside are black and white stock photos; many appear to be quite old. The majority of the photos are harmless, but a few show animals posed in dangerous or disturbing situations for laughs. I don't see how images like this will cheer anyone up.

The text is Ok; it shifts between twee sentiments and darker,...more

This book is the most condescending self-help book I've ever had the misfortune of picking up. The worst part is the bit about how life is worth living for love. I'm lucky enough to have a partner who truly is my light on those bad days, but I think this book would have made me feel even worse if I didn't.

Also, I don't think that sheep was enjoying herself one bit. It made me feel very uncomfortable.

This book was given to me by my co-workers when my mom died. I was twenty, trying to finish school, and working three jobs. Things don't get much harder than that. I still pick it up every once in awhile and read it(sad or not) to remind me that things always get better and there are people who care about you. If only takes 5 minutes to read through, the quickest pick-me-up ever!

I just brought this book into my English class last Thursday and they loved it! Even the students who swear that they "don't like doing fun things" in class were smiling and laughing half-way through this quick, uplifting book. It simply shows cute/funny pictures of animals with witty sayings to help cheer up even the saddest of people! A definite smile maker! :)

There is a page in this book, with a lion laying in the grass, that perfectly describes one of the ways serious depression can feel. The saying on the page (I am probably misquoting it a bit but don't have the book with me) says, "And sometimes you get so depressed that you lay on the ground and wait for the earth to swallow you whole." Very powerful.

This is the first of these beautiful little books I picked up to read many years ago...it started me buying them all, and they are certainly worth it. Beautiful photos, inspirational words, humerous, sad, you'll never get through the book without a smile! So worth reading, for everyone, and such special, worthwhile gifts!

Have to thank my Aunt Susanne for this book - given to me several years ago, but I keep it by my desk for those "blue days."

Whimsical yet straightforward... illustrated with black & white photographs of animals. Reminds you to be mindful, as everyone has blue days... Always makes me think of Susanne and feel better.

I was laid off from a job I loved. I was able to find a position in the company to transfer to, but I was unhappy about it. My husband bought me this book and gave it to me when I got home from my first day in my new position. It was a wonderful thought, and whenever I am down in the dumps, I pick this book up.

I read this book a long time ago, on someone's bookself. To be honest, I never thought very much of it; it wasn't the best of books. I am not sure if I will have the same opinion when I pick it up again. But, I really dislike books with negative titles. It didn't lift me up some, I doubt it will do again.

Sickeningly sweet at times but either I am far more depressed than I realize or there really was an uplifting message nestled inbetween all the cuddly cute animal pics. My personal fave was the anteater shouting "someone please just shoot me!" Okay, not so cute but more my morbid style.

This book took me about 10 minutes to read, and in that time I went from a really bad mood to just wanting to be really positive on life. This is a really good book, and all the cranky people out there should read it. Even the happy for some extra laughs at the pictures!

Coffee-table pick-me-up books aren't my thing, but the dedication in this book alone sold me:

"To my wonderful parents . . . who never stopped taking me out to see the world even after I was bitten by penguins, twice."

The pictures are pretty fun too.

This is a delightful little picture book. It really does cheer you up some. It is the pictures that make the book. The statements are also cool I think adults would like it a lot more than children.

Love this book. Best gift I ever got. The pictures are beautiful and the story really makes you thin twice. Sometimes all you need is 5 minutes to read this book and clear your head.

Greive's books are pretty darn cute -- at times the text is a little too saccharine sweet for my taste, but augmented with the wonderful animal photos it becomes enjoyable.

A wonderful, quick encourager. It's very hard to feel bad about your situation when you look at the adorable animals in this book.

Excellent picture book (animals). However, it has a some inappropriate sexual content and suicidal references for young children.
