My copy of this cookbook came from my grandmother (it has some of her notes in it too!) - I love the excellent reliable and basic recipes you can find here...everything from sauces and salad dressings, to cakes and cookies, to how to cook all manner of traditional meat dishes and canning! It's the "Joy of Cooking" for the American housewife! :D The Baked Macaroni and Cheese recipe is a long-standing family tradition and I never have used another one! A good Comprehensive guide to beginners to American cookery. My first cookbook when I was young. It has been well used. It has such things as cooking terminology, how to carve meats, calorie chart, how to decorate a cake, and basic recipes for many dishes. Also has a small section on International dishes.
