I can't imagine walking up to a stranger in a public park and spontaneously kissing him passionately. That is exactly what well bred Lady Gabrielle did early one morning just one week before her wedding.

Viscount Brentwood was honoring a promise to his late mother by walking her tiny Pomeranian in the park. Last thing he expected was a beautiful woman stepping into his arms and then kissing him with abandon.

Good start to a romance, however, it does get even better. With various family and future...more

He is walking his deceased mother's small dog in the park early one morning when a beautiful woman comes out of the mist. He can't believe it when she just ups and kisses him.

He further can't believe it when he is tackled by her father's and her future father in law's men. He literally doesn't know what just hit him. But being a Gentleman he knows his future has just be...more

A Gentleman Never Tells by Amelia Grey is the delightful fourth entry in her Rogue’s Dynasty series. Having never read Ms. Grey before, I was happily surprised by her style of writing and with her charming characters. The dialogue was sharp and amusing and I found myself laughing during several of the escapades that take place in this historical romance.

Gabrielle is a wonderful character; young, beautiful and thoughtful, she’s an obedient dau...more

The words funny and charming, sensual and compelling could describe this story. Amelia Grey has created characters with depth who interact in entertaining ways. A Gentleman Never Tells is a delightful Regency-era romance.

Gabrielle, a once obedient Duke’s daughter, sees something that drags her from her proper ways. She does a shocking thing in a park, starting the novel off with a surprise. The reckless thing she does changes the life...more

A Gentleman Never Tells is a delightful regency romance novel. I have a great love for regency romance, and I found this novel to be one of the best I’ve read in the genre.

Viscount Brentwood is walking his mother’s small dog in the park one morning when he is met by a beautiful woman walking a very large dog. She is beautiful and suddenly in his arms in a compromising manner. He enjoys the moment only too briefly before he is set upon by Lady Gabrielle’s father, fiancée’s father, and their men....more

Heroine takes a walk in the park one morning with her dog (a mastiff) and meets the hero walking his dog (a Pomeranian). They are strangers. She kisses him. He kisses her back.

Then her father and her fiance's father catch them in the act. Her fiance's father calls off the wedding. Her father insists the hero marry her instead.

The hero is a really nice guy who approaches life with good humor. He never blows up in anger and shows his temper just one time near the end. He's almost too good to be tr...more

In general, I love Regency romances. I'm not terribly picky about whether they're 100 percent authentic. I'm really very easy to please, and I've read hundreds of them over the 30 years or so I've been reading them.

But there were things in this book that just made me stop reading and cringe. Like the term "birth father." Seriously? There's no way that term was used back then. And what's up with the constant references to men as "blades"? I might have been able to buy it if it were only men usin...more

A Gentleman Never Tells introduces us to Sir Randolph’s offspring, the handsome big twins. But this story is also mainly about the twins older brother (whom they learn is really their half-brother). Viscount Brentwood meets the enchanting Lady Gabrielle by chance in the park and is found in an embrace with her by her father and her father in law to be. Needless to say, this embrace cancelled her engagement and placed her into a new one, with the Viscount. She struggles with the passion she feels...more

I like Amelia Grey and look forward to her books. They are easy to read and the hero is always terrific. And this one has dogs, many dogs (including Tulip from a previous book)As usual, a book full of many misunderstandings that all work out in the end. Viscount Brentwood, who we have also met in a previous book when he finds out his mother had an "indiscretion" that turned out to be twins, is just a wonderful character. The immediate attraction between him and a woman who walks out of the mists...more

My Review:

The Plot:

When Viscount Brentwood finds himself in quite the unexpected situation of being caught passionately embracing a beautiful but unchaperoned lady in the park, his choice pick of the marriageable ladies of the ton is forcibly revoked by the lady in question and her powerful duke of a father. Threatened within an inch of his life by the irate duke, Brent accepts his duty as a gentleman and agrees to marry the now unveiled Lady Gabrielle. Funnily enough, Brent isn't too up...more

A Gentleman Never Tells is a delightful, witty, and enjoyable read.

Brent is prince charming cleverly disguised as the boy next door. He is loyal to his family, kind to animals, smart, funny, and just one of those really nice guys. He has decided it is time to marry and has come to London to find a bride. One morning he is walking his deceased mother’s prized pet Prissy when he encounters an enchanting young women who mysteriously materializes in the park and kisses him.

Gabrielle has been an obe...more

More a 3,5

My thoughts:
The information I found stated that this was book 4, when I actually thought it was the start to a new series. The previous books are about 3 cousins finding love while this one is set at the same time, but all new characters. But they are connected and this via the man who fathered Brent's brothers and that man was also in the previous books as a side character. But you do not need to have read those previous ones at all since this for me feels like a new start.
But enough...more

Dreadful. I didn’t enjoy anything about this story. Both hero and heroine were very bland. The heroine had no personality and was very passive. There were no sparks, no chemistry or anything between the two. There were a few subplots, one involving the heroine’s younger sister, Rosabelle, and one involving the heroes younger twin brothers. Both of those were much more interesting than anything involving hero and heroine.

By far, the worst part of the book was the hero searching for his…….dog. Pro...more

Had a cast of dogs! Sorta. With a side plot around the kidnapping of pet dogs. The heroine has a huge mastiff by the name of Brutus while the hero inherited his mother's Pomeranian! Quite a good read; my 1st from this author. Going to hunt for more of her books.

Did not really care for the heroine, Gabrielle. She let her witch of a sister walk all over her, came up with uninspiring insipid plans to thwart the Hero. The romance was okay when Gabrielle wasn't such a weakling.

I enjoyed the book. The characters were interesting but not well developed. The hero’s twin brothers were mentioned and I hope they become the central characters in future books by Ms. Grey.

That's it. I started this author thinking she was someone else and she just cant be so I am not reading her ever again. Ever get a book from the past in your head and can't figure out who the author was or remember the name. Something like grey but definitly not Amelia.

This book was just right. Good fun regency with little mystery. Dashing hero out to do the honorable thing, always family first in mind, & a leading lady of the same mind set fall in lust then in love. Delightful!
Barbara
Stupid book, read like a bunch of teenagers, immature, imbeciles, a waste of my $$$ and time.

Despite a couple anachronisms and improbabilities, this was a nice read.

After a while all of these stories seem to sound alike with a different twist. This twist was really unbelievable, but I hung in there. I am not one to give up early in a story. I kept hoping there was a redeeming feature. There way-a likable hero. He hung in with the story, too:) I am not sure why...except, maybe 'love at first kiss'? No matter, it is a fun series and I will go forth to the next installment: 'A Gentleman Says I Do'. Stay tuned...
