Nina Stokes is perfectly content working on her paintings and tending to her vegetable garden when a hardened, albeit handsome, soldier comes to town, clutching a letter from her deceased brother that says she must give her house to him. Sure, she may see the world through rose-tinted glasses, but this time she refuses to go down without a fight!
Mick Rivers feels like a jerk for taking the house from his fallen comrade's sister, but it's become a matter of life or death. Sure, he didn't think it...more

For a contemporary romance read, Sweet Kiss of Summer was pretty good. The characters were fun, and the romance was sweet. I also really liked the setting of the town, since I imagined that it was one of the towns surrounding the Fingerlakes. The only really big issue that I had was there was almost too much going on. There were so many characters, which usually I am okay with, but I just feel like some of them didn't even really need to be in the book. The twists of the book were good, although...more
It was okay... I won this book in a contest along with a couple other books by Forever Romance (the other two I really liked and had on my to-read list already), so did not pick it out for myself. I read it and I did not NOT like it, but I was left without very much fondness for it. There were a lot of secondary characters... blah. I did not feel connected to the main characters, but wished them well. The storyline was busy and at the same time, not overly exciting. But the book itself was not b...more
I gave this book, Sweet Kiss of Summer, by Sophie Gunn, 3 stars and the cover is what attracted me to the book. It looks like a sweet summer romance type book. But once I started reading, the characters just didn't come alive for me or seem to connect to me. I’m not the author and apparently they have chemistry to her.

Loved the book - didn't know what to expect next. Lots of twists and turns. I laughed and cried. Have to read Sophie Gunn's first book in the Enemy Series now, "How Sweet It Is" and I can't wait to do so! Highly recommend especially if you read books by Susan Mallery, Susan Wiggs, Sherryl Woods. You'll be pleased you did!
I really enjoyed this book up to a point. I'm not sure where it shifted, but there was something about the Bobby situation that didn't ring true. I loved Mick and his struggle with being a soldier, and I enjoyed Nina. I also jumped into this book quickly and did not want to put it down. So, all in all, I was a bit disappointed, but will try another book by this author.
I'm hooked on the series, but I liked the first one much better. I had too many problems with the heroine to make this better that 3.5 stars.
