The devil you know . . .

Stefan is weak from his long imprisonment and needs more blood than Elena alone can give him, while a strange magic has turned Damon into a human. Savage and desperate, Damon will do anyt

I cannot wait to read the final installment.
Here's hoping LJ has Elena choose Damon, FINALLY. Once and for all. After all this time and all this build up between them, it would be a complete waste to end it with Stefan/Elena. I think Elena has grown out of her love with Stefan.
Elena belongs with Damon.
I hope Stefan gets his wish to become human and I hope Damon turns back into a vampire. And I never really liked Bonnie but I think she should be with Matt.

I can not wait to read this one! Personally I hope it's better then the other two new ones. I'm personally rooting for the Damon/Elena relationship because for one thing, they were a match made in heaven. And for another, it's like forbidden love which makes it all the more interesting. I've never liked Bonnie, but have always loved Damon and personally think they would make a horrible couple. Bonnie and Matt have more sparks! I will seriously cry my eyes out if Damon and Bonnie end up together....more
I really, really, really, really, really can't wait for this book to come out. Midnight's release date has been changed at least 6 times and I just want to read it. I hope Elena's going to end up with Damon. She really does belong with Damon and not Stefan. If Damon doesn't change back into a vampire and Elena chooses Stefan in the end, I swear I'll cry harder than I've ever cried in my life.
Oh, by the way, this is a LONG review. And i gave it four stars because everything is riding on this book for me, and if it doesn't fit the bill I so desperately hope it does, bad things will happen in my mind.
Hmm. I absolutely adore these two series, and I say "two series'" because, well, it in truth has to be two series'. In the first four books, Elena meets Stefan and Damon, falls for Stefan, becomes a vampire, dies whilest being a vampire, and is a---ghost?---in the fourth book. Then she's...more

I HONESTLY CANNOT WAIT!
STEFAN BETTER BE WITH ELENA!! OR I WILL KILL SOMEONE SERIOUSLY!!!
DAMON & ELENA stefan and elena are meant to be, why can't anyone see that?? I personally think Damon should get with Bonnie, and I think Matt needs a girl. I know this book will be 5 stars, I can't wait! I'm so sad that this is the final chapter of Stefan & Elena's life, I'm depressed now :'(

Okay, I know Elena isn't going to end up with Damon....but I want her to so bad! This is what I think will happen:
Elena will turn into a vampire again and stay with Stefan and Bonnie is going to end up with Damon (Yuck).
How do I want it to happen?
Stefan will somehow trade with Damon and he will become human while Damon is transformed back into a vampire. while fighting Stefan will make some huge sacrifice and die for Elena or Damon. Bonnie will end up with Matt and Elena and Da...more

Cannot wait for this book! My heart will be broken beyond pieces if Damon and Bonnie end up together, I don't even care if Bonnie and Matt do! If L.J Smith is reading this please don't!! I love all the book you've made especially The Forbidden Game.
I except a dramatic but heart warming ending for everyone.. not Bonnie LOL!
P.S LOVE THE COVER!
P.P.S- Is the sister of one of the foxes?l.j smith

Oh my gosh, i can't wait to read this book!! Every since I started reading the books, I've always been Team Stefan (phh Edward, you've got nothing on him...). Whenever I finished reading other book and the couple I wanted to end up together didn't exactly live happily ever after I'd always think, "Uh. That sucks. At least I can count on L.J Smith making Elena and Stefan end up together."

Ok. So it took me a few days to get back into these books. i haven't read them for almost a year. it didn't take long however, these books...it's just amazig how completely unique they are. I always loved these. I love the concept. i love the characters. i love everything about them', except for one small thing. it is sooooooo overly descriptive. i usually love that, but i found at one point in the book when she took like about 10 pages to explain something and it went on and on and on. i absolu...more

The new Vampire Diaries trilogy shares many characteristics with the music of Neil Diamond. At this point a suspension of disbelief is required to traverse the absurd world of Fell's Church, from the dangers of the Dark Dimension to a courtroom full of werewolves, through encounters with mutant owls, fox spirits and carnivorous trees. Many readers still doubt the power of L.J. Smith novels and demand to know why she has continued writing the same stories since the 1990s, transplanting her chara...more
I think I hate all the characters in this book and I've no idea why I even bought it and read it. I don't even care that it ended on a giant cliffhanger, I will not read the next pile of shit 'trilogy' to find out what happens. I'm sick of L.J. Smith's shit.
Spoilers galore in this review, because honestly, spoilers can't ruin this book for anyone, the book ruins itself.

Midnight is the seventh book in The Vampire Diaries series by L.J. Smith
It is one of my favourite books in the series. Especially since Meredith has a larger role in it. And the plot was addictive, the characters were well-developed, and the writing was gripping.
It is sad that this is the final book in the series written by L.J. Smith. When she started the series, she signed a "Work for Hire" contract, which gave Alloy Entertainment the rights. So they were able to fire her, but I don't know wh...more

Throught the book, there are many twists and unexpected moments that I loved. The only fault is that I am now frustrated with the whole Elena Stefan Damon triangle, I mean Elena just pick one for goodness sake.
I have read that L J Smith has signed on to do another trilogy in the series and has the 1st wrote, Phantom... No release date is set but I shall be waiting for it.

Okay, so, this is doubtlessly my favorite TVD cover. It's beautiful. The only problem is: I don't know who it is. At first I thought it was Bonnie. She has brown eyes, though, so is it her and they just made her eyes green? Is it that vampire princess? Is it that bitchy guardian? I'd like to think it's Bonnie. I'm just not sure.
ANYWAY, this book was, by far, the best of The Return series of The Vampire Diaries (TVD). Nightfall was okay, but difficult to understand. Shadow Souls made ev...more

I'm a huge fan of LJ Smith, so it really pains me to give one of her novels a fairly bad review, but this quite simply isn't a great book. Despite it not being as good as the original trilogy, I really rather enjoyed the previous book, Shadow Souls, so having initially been dubious about whether to read this new trilogy at all, I was looking forward to picking this one up.

We begin with the aftermath of Damon's decision to stupidly open the black rose given to Stefan which was to restore his humanity and while this was Stefan's dream, we all know how much it was not what Damon had planned. After all, what is Damon, if not a mischievous vampire? Which is what Damon comes to the conclusion of, being a vampire is the very heart of who he is, or rather who he tries to pretend he is, and of course Damon wants this little 'inconvenience' of being human sorted asap.

God Almighty, I don't know where the hell this series took a turn for the INSANE. I loved this series. That was until slimy things that I have never heard of and foxy supernatural creatures started taking over and people were going seriously batshit crazy. It's like Smith reached out into the depths of a black hole and pulled lint from the pages of beastiaries to keep this story going.

The final book in the Vampire Diaries' Return trilogy was long and action-packed. Someone needs to return to the Dark Dimension and regain supernatural powers. Another person unfortunately tags along with the person. Fell's Church, Virginia is under the threat of total annihilation unless our merry cast of characters can stop the Kitsune from carrying out their diabolical plan at Midnight. The last Midnight of all Midnights in Fell's Church. Hence, the name of the book, "Midnight." One character...more
Hi Guys,
This weeks book review will be on The Vampire Diaries: The Return: Midnight. This will be the final book review for this series, that is until the next Vampire Diaries book comes out. Yes, I thought this was the last book as well, that is until L.J. Smith announced that she will be starting a continuation of the series with three new books. I myself wish she would just quit. I love her books, but it just seems like this series is ongoing, and I just want it to end. On a better note, I h...more

I loved the first two bind ups of L J Smiths Vampire Diaries. Granted they are nothing like the TV Series, and now I have read the books published to date I am glad, because the last three new books have really disappointed me. I think the 20 year gap between The Reunion and The Return Book 1 has a massive impact on my affinity towards it.

I have read all of the Vampire Diaries books, as well as many of LJ Smith's other books. I have been disappointed with The Return trilogy as a whole, but this particular book was just infuriating. The ending was so irritating I almost threw the book.
The whole Meredith side plot was not needed and seemed to be there only to add length to the book. The same thing with Elena and Bonnie's out of body experience.
As the story wrapped up, everything came too easy. If they needed something, they found...more

What to say, as series books go this one at least has a plot and characters that are somewhat original and not a retelling of past books. The world of Fell’s Creek is in chaos because of two Kitsune who were introduced in the last story. Stefan is back after being rescued by Elana and Damon, but he is not strong and needs blood. Elana’s friends Meredith, Bonnie, and Matt have gathered at Mrs. Flower’s to decide the next move when Damon opens a portal and accidentally takes Bonnie with him to the...more

“So," dark Susurre said quietly, "if you follow the curve... in a way your Damon did die to save Fell's Church from another massacre like the one on that Japanease island. He kept saying that was what he'd come to the Nether World to do. Do you not think he would be satisfied? At peace?"
"At PEACE?!" Stefan spat bitterly, and Sage growled.
