It failed to disappoint. I love this book. The first time I read it I was just a sophomore student in high school and I just couldn't put it down. It really different from the usual stories that I was used to reading. I promised myself then that I will buy a copy of my own.

I started collecting books then with John Grisham's and Agatha Christie's works. It was so hard to find this book from second-hand bookstores. I couldn't afford to buy a new one since I was still a student and lived on a tight

When I finished reading this book, my first reaction was...

description

I mean, after all the excruciating details for the bull run, the convent, what happened with Sister Teresa in the military camp and some other things that I cannot remember anymore (I did mention in my other reviews that I do not have a good memory), I found the ending somewhat lacking. Okay, to be perfectly honest, I found the ending totally lacking. After reading this book and after my "what the hell?" moment, I really wanted to hit so

A good read but far from perfect:
1. Not a single likeable/memorable character in the entire book
2. The entire backdrop of Spanish Civil war didn't have major impact.
3. Too many characters, each with his detailed backstory which had no relevance to the main story(OK except 1 )
Not the auhor's best work But overall a good read. So 3/5

An okayish thriller. I know it is a story and one should not have too many questions but still..... there were many things not very convincing. The premise was good . This is the second book I have come across of a convent with the code of silence followed by its inhabitants. . But the atmosphere was so different from The Beautiful Mystery which was a five starrer for me.

It is the story of four nuns who escape from their convent during a military attack on it and of the rebel leader Jaimie Miro

“The difference between a rebel and a patriot depends upon who is in power at the moment.” — Sidney Sheldon, Sands of Time

The Sands of Time is an action-packed novel published in 1988 by the Master of Unexpected, Sidney Sheldon.

The story is set 37 years after the Civil War in Spain or the Spanish Inquisition (which lasted from 1936-1939). Remember, that Civil War was one of the bloodiest civil wars in history. More than half people lost their homes and lives in the battles for power between the

I couldn't put it down at all. I never wanted to stop reading it, it was a really addicting and enticing read. But then we are talking about Sidney Sheldon aren't we?
Though I think at a point in the middle I thought the flashbacks were getting a little too much, but then I found myself grateful for all that knowledge. The character development was precise and each character had an intricately drawn past which was explained in detail. And that does sound awesome.

Sands of Time by Sydney Sheldon keeps you hooked till the end despite obvious flaws and loopholes in the plot. Based in the backdrop of Spanish Civil war between the Basques and the Spanish government, 'Sands of Time' is a story of Jaime Miro, a legendary, fearless and most-wanted terrorist, fighting for the rights of the Basque people against the authorities. The Spanish Prime Minister is on a hunt for Miro, and has deployed Colonel Acoca to bring Miro to justice for his crimes against the stat ...more

This is a story of four nuns who were able to escape the hostile military forces of Acoca who got into their convent. They were instructed by the Reverend Mother to take the convent's most precious possession with them and bring it to the next convent where it can be safely kept and where they can seek refuge as well. However, they fall into the hands of the rebel group led by Jaime Miro.

Jaime Miro was ultimately the handsomest rebel this story has ever created. He was so manly, undeniably char

― Sidney Sheldon, Sands of Time

The Sands of Time by Sidney Sheldon is another of my #toptenfavoritebooks. This best-seller is an action thriller and follows the adventures of four nuns who are forced to elope and leave their Spanish convent during a military attack on the convent. They are forced to fend for themselves in the outside world of threat, violence and passions and end up getting trapped in the

I have no words how much I adore Sidney Sheldon and his books, and his brain, and his ideas, and his entire being. There will never be another Sidney Sheldon. Note that. THERE WON'T BE A STORYTELLER LIKE SIDNEY SHELDON EVER AGAIN.
There is something inexplicable about his writing, which grips the reader from the beginning till the end, keeps the reader intrigued, letting them feel every single emotion. And how

It has been an engrossing and entertaining read throughout the time i had this book. The book can be described as a true novel with mixed feelings and emotions throughout and as the title aptly describes, a sequence of events(adventures would be better) and feelings and their change with time. Its worthy of the time you spent
A problem i had noticed was that each character had a flashback to him/her and it becomes difficult to match the characters with their flashblack as the story progresses and i

Sidney Sheldon spins a yarn that is both entertaining and addictive. It was a spellbinding moment reading the thick and rich plot. At first, I thought Sands of Times is gory and bloody, chaotic, historical and violent. However, it was the opposite. It was a 400 page full of reminisces of each of the major characters.

On the other hand, Sidney Sheldon's writing prowess is sometimes predictable, in a good sense that you want to prove you're right. And when you are, you felt great because you feel

Nuns and rebels teaming up... who would have imagined huh?? Well luckily the master of novel writing did!!! Nothing i say can do justice to this book. Magen an orphan who has no option but joining the convent. Teressa, joins up to escape her tragic heart break and finds peace, at last. Graciella joins out of true desire to be with God. And my favorite, Lucia a murderer wanted across state lines, joins because she needs a hide out. And colonel Acoca happens..... They get dumped into the world and ...more

Damn did I love this book or what. The four nuns were the best characters each with a different catchy story. Each finding love, each having the most not to expect ending. Each becoming a nun not by choice. The story of their lives, Lucia daughter of Mafia boss came to the nun to hide, Megan abandon in Italy as an American baby, Teresia, became a nun to run away from a heartbreaking home, Graciela, the beauty of them all who remained married to the church after all the drama. Then Jaime Miro, th ...more

Started this book with lot of expectations as the author Sindney Sheldon has a huge fan following in India and it was my debut read of his books. Opening scene was the only highlight of the book. Rest of the incidents that took place were merely coincidental with lots of loopholes in the plot. Author's writing was very straightforward and too boring which makes the story less interesting. Not sure if I will pick his other works or not

Another Sidney Sheldon book with strong heroines and huge plots. Once again, Sidney Sheldon shows his attitude of money-and-power-can-buy-anyone-or-anything. I was kinda surprised reading the blurb when I came to know that the heroines are nuns. The freedom fighting, terrorists and spies make the book all the more interesting and spicy. Well, there were few gross, filthy parts (every book of his has some!) that I hated. The prose was kinda bland too but somehow added glamour to the thriller. I l ...more

Warning: Once you start you cannot stop, seriously. You have to make sure you're not in the middle of something (especially cooking, or in my case studying for exams). This is the very definition of page-turner brought to you by the master story teller himself.

This books is a story about some nuns who have different and strange background and who are either trying to get away from this nun-ship or want to involve more deeply into it.

Either way they end up getting outside the place they spend their lives and to see the world and how it is working and doing now.

With a lot of tragedies and up and downs in these women's lives, this story progresses.

Having read considerable number of books by Sidney Sheldon, I found it less entertaining than his other work

It's been quite a while since I've been brooding over the desire to read a 'Sidney Sheldon' book. And, Voila! I finally got my hands on his less acclaimed book titled 'Sands of Time'. I was so eager to get to know this famed writer more, that I was excited to read it right away. You could call it a 'book lover's craving' but I should say that I was a bit disappointed in the end. Sheldon is a skilled, accomplished writer who is well-versed in English language, there is no doubt in that but he has ...more

I haven`t read Sheldon in what seems like forever. In reality, it must have been at least two or three years since the last time I read a book of his. What brought me back to his novels was my friend (a Sheldon enthusiast) and the interesting premise. Mostly all of his novels take place in some glamorous, luxurious world filled with heiresses and balls and expensive things beyond imagining. It is an enticing world, but most of us can`t relate to it. It remains an elusive world, one we will proba ...more

Sands of Time is probably the most mind-blowing, thrilling, exhilarating, educative book from Sheldon,Initially I thought Mistress of the Game was the bomb, but damn!It only got better :)

Історі ...more

Sidney Sheldon hit upon a sensitive subject when he wrote about nuns facing reality after being shoved out of their comfort zone.
I was surprised about Sister Teresa's plight and twist. Lucia was defiant, spunky, and shocked me with her final decision. Megan was a sweetheart who became almost unrecognizable. Graciella, while almost giving up on the inevitable, took the turn.
What a great way to show how shocking a world can become to those who shut themselves off to remain close to the one true

No one wrote a better or more entertaining romantic potboiler than Sidney Sheldon, and The Sands of Time is one of his best. It has loads of color and atmosphere, characters you root for, divergent story-lines each as interesting as the last, and Sheldon's tremendous gift for storytelling, on grand display here. You won't forget Lucia, Teresa, Graciela or Megan, nor will you forget the wonderfully colorful portrait of Spain and its conflicts (though a bit dated) of the time. Like a lot of Sheldo ...more

Sidney Sheldon (1917-2007) was an American writer who won awards in three careers—a Broadway playwright, a Hollywood TV and movie screenwriter, and a best-selling novelist.
