This book is sort of like a sandwich. The beginning and ending felt like a whirlwind storm where so much information gets thrown at you that it's overwhelming. The meat in the middle though is delicious and worth savoring. Please forgive my food analogy, I haven't eaten breakfast yet. Yours, Mine and Howls is at its core a werewolf book and I really enjoyed that aspect of it. However, there's a bucket full of other supernaturals such as fae, selkies, shifters, Old Ones and the list goes on that turn this novel into a test of your powers of deduction. The main story is a gripping read but the many side plots and overabundance of lore weighs the book down.

I'm still not entirely sure what to think of Ally. She's a very complex character with both good traits and bad. She has all of the makings of a great pack alpha but there's only one problem: she's not a werewolf. As a result of a freak accident she now possess the strength, speed, healing abilities and smell of her lupine counterparts. When Ally finds herself living in a pack she butts heads quite severely with the alpha; which at first was understandable. It's hard to accept going from being at the top of the pecking order to the bottom. But after a while it got to be tiresome. In her place, I would have gladly accepted having such a huge weight lifted from my shoulders but Ally refuses to relinquish the reigns. She fights the pull that Cade has over her and she's incredibly stressed out about whether others will be able to accept her freakish nature. I wanted to like her but she was just so... abrasive.

The main plot was fascinating. It flowed well and was full of snark and funny lines. I enjoyed uncovering the mystery behind the MacDougall family. The blooming relationship between Cade and Ally was cute and dramatic. I found that they complimented each other well. That is, after Allison finally stops keeping secrets from everyone. That part of the storyline confused me a little. To my knowledge she wasn't sworn to silence so I had a hard time understanding why she just didn't tell everyone why she's different. I mean, they're werewolves. That in itself is an abnormality and I'm sure that they would have been open to hearing her story if Ally had tried. Why she felt the need to keep it under wraps is beyond me. I got several smiles out of their creativeness when it came to choosing out of the ordinary places to get-it-on. It added a much needed lighter element to this heavy read.

The downside of this tale was the numerous side plots. There's a murdering alpha on the loose, a crazy high fae, tons of family secrets, etc. The book jumps from one intrigue to the next and then back again. I struggled to keep up. Maybe a flow chart would have helped but that seems like a lot of work to invest in a leisurely read. There's also mad mythology that's compacted together at the end. If you can get past all of that and stay focused of the werewolves this novel is a good read. I think Holley tried to cram too much into one story. This was only her second crack at authorhood so I'll cut her some slack. Perhaps she'll iron out all of the kinks in book number 3. Yours, Mine and Howls is a fast paced, humorous read that'll keep you guessing and give you a few new creative ideas to try with your lover.(less)

With out giving away all of the story, be prepared for many side plots that at one point make you do a double take while asking yourself "what am I missing here?" By the end of the book MOST of my questions that arise from the story we answered. Only 2 questions remained but I think that the author couldn't answer these questions so easily cause at this point in the series, or world she's creating, there is not a character we have meet yet that holds the keys to finding these answers. I'm hoping as the world develops thru the next books in the series, these characters and I will have all of our questions answered.

Although these books are considered a series the only thing connecting them is the world that that the characters live in. There are no crossovers in these books YET, and they can definitely be read as stand alone novels. I would love to see the secondary characters in this book show up and continue to enthrall me in further books.

Unlike the 1st book, Kiss and Kin, this book is a full length novel. One thing I loved about this book was that even thou we are given a lot of information at the beginning and the end of the book all at once, the middle slowed down to a very seductive pace to allow the reader to see each characters development and allows us to fall in love with all of them even the secondary characters.

This Literal Addict gives Yours, Mine and Howls (Werewolves in Love #2) by Kinsey W. Holley four out of five skulls.

He agrees to let them stay however because the Houston pack that had been sheltering them will recognize Cade's pack as legitimate if he does. It's soon apparent that these four additions have secrets that will change pack dynamics forever - if he lets them. The biggest problem of all is that Ally is Cade's mate.

This was a very meaty and satisfying urban fantasy/romance that reminded me somewhat of the Mercy Thompson series, in that the characters just drew you in and you really cared about them. Ally had secrets of her own, the least of which being she was once dead, and she tries desperately to keep them hidden because she doesn't want to be made to leave Dylan and her "pack" behind once they are found out. Dylan may not be hers biologically but she fights for him just as fiercely as any mother and in one scene when Cade tells her that Dylan is "his" now, she is a force to be reckoned with. I just loved her! She was a great mix of bad-ass mom and vulnerable woman who just wanted to be wanted, and loved. Cade was a gruff, almost mean, alpha in the beginning but when he bonded with Ally, the fierce protector in him really came out. He reminded me a lot of Charles from

in that he is one scary man but with Ally he is tender and loving. That's not to say Cade doesn't have issues - he does. And he hurts Ally several times but they are meant to be together, mate bond or not.

I really hope Ms Holley continues with this series. Great read that's going on my keeper shelf.

Their love/hate relationship at the beginning of the story turns into sizzling sexual tension before the two give in to their feelings for one another. Both Ally and Cade are not telling each other the full story though. Mystery surrounds both of them. They have to learn to trust one another when dangerous situations arise.

Ms. Holley writes this story with a lot of humor. There's plenty of snark and funny lines to go around that had me giggling. It lightens up the tension within the story. The secondary characters really flavor the book. Of course there's Dylan, the young pup on the verge of adulthood meeting new family for the first time. Even at his age, he loves and respects Ally, the woman who raised him since the terrible night when he was young. There's Declan and Seth, Ally's two wolf roommates that have been living with them as well. Cade's sweet and funny daughter Becca. She's a hoot, and really brings a lot into the novel.

Overall, I enjoyed this. The characters, plot, and suspense were strong. There is just the right amount of foreshadowing throughout that keeps the reader intrigued. Yours, Mine, and Howls is the second in the Werewolves in Love series.

If you enjoy alpha wolves, mystery, a strong feisty heroine, and humor, then you may want to howl along with this book.

They live in Houston with her BFF Seth, who’s a beta wolf, and another beta, Dec, who moved in with them about four years ago. I can’t say enough how much I enjoyed Yours,Mine and Howls; I don’t know why I waited so long to read this book! This was an interesting world to read – supernaturals are out and living among regular humans. I loved the pack and Cade was a delicious alpha. Ally is a great heroine: she’s protective of Dylan and she’s been the ‘alpha’ of their little ‘pack’ but now she’s not the top dog and is having a hard time handing her wolves over to Cade. The other plotlines blend well into the story, keeping the reader interested and wanting to know what happens next. Ms. Holley writes great characters that I’d love to see again. I enjoyed Yours, Mine and Howls so much I immediately bought the next book in the series, Ready to Run. (Ready to Run contains different characters in the same world)

RECOMMENDATIONS
I highly recommend for fans of paranormal romance: Yours, Mine and Howls will not disappoint!(less)

I read the first one of this series and wasn't sure if I wanted to carry on. It was okay but nothing fantastic. I am so glad that I did. This was a really good read. I loved the characters and how they interacted with each other.

SOO much better than the first one!

i really loved the ideas and concept of this book. Although Cade annoyed the hell out of me sometimes with his macho bs. I know alphas are supposed to be domineering and strict but not to their mate. I read Nanny Years and it was amazingly funny and very well written short story. I just had to know what will happen next. So I bought the kindle book and spent a day sneaking behind my PC to read it. And it was a great adventure. I was hooked from the start - the characters were believable and the storyline was really exciting. I think author has done a wonderful job creating this world with fae, werewolves and old gods. Funny and interesting. A great read. Maybe I loved it this much because the last couple of books I've read were either mediocre or terrible. But even allowing for that, this book was quite good.

Just some minor thoughts though:
The title was nonsensical
And there was a whole lot of mythology there in the end. A little hard to keep up.
The hero was an uncommunicative Neanderthal in the beginning.
I liked how the heroine handled him (she's real bossy).
No epilogue - not cool

After reading this second book I will say that packing alot of drama into her books probably will be apart of Ms Holley style – there is alot of stuff happening that made this read a bumpy journey for me.

This is a different shifter story, a little odd. It had many plots going on that it was difficult to keep up, I felt like I was being pull in to many different directions. When someone want to know what was happen they were told " tell you later or don't have time right now in a hurry will tell you later" .

I am a shifter nut and I liked the bit of myth tie-ins too and I really liked that the heroine is alpha enough - and has some secret special powers - that allow her to go toe to toe with her very alpha mate. If I could give this book a negative number I would. A sexist religiously oriented pierce of crap obviously the author does not know children, for every time Becca is mentioned it in conjunction with the TV show she is watching. Yep, Ally is great with kids anyone can sit in front of a TV with a child, its no great skill.

While I really liked "Kiss and Kin," this offering by Holley didn't do it for me; it was too long, with too much information packed into it. I got 49% through the book (Kindle edition) and then skimmed to the end. I felt like the author tried to do too much in one novel. It had a good premise that turned into "am I done yet?"

Becca is so cute, but I wish I would know her better. She doesn't appear too much on this book, what is so not cool. :( But I had enought secrets, action and love. A lot of love. And so well written!

I really liked this one. First off there was a whole lot of meat on it compared to the 2 first books and there was more plot, which really made it great. I liked all the history that came from Ally's and Cade's meeting. I found the whole business with the old ones intriguing and i'm hoping they'll play a part later on.
I'm looking forward to reading the next book.

What a surprisingly fabulous book. Unlike many urban fantasy books, this wasn't a simple tale of love and lust, leaving the reader wondering if life actually continues after a relationship starts. Lovely amount of story left to tell and I sincerely hope we see more of these characters.

I've been waiting MONTHS for this to come out. And it didn't disappoint. I am interested in finding out if the story will continue. A lot was answered, but a TON more was introduced with a high probability of future story lines. I'm all in.

Good characters, good chemistry. The "mystery" left a bit to be desired. The explanation was there in the end, but it didn't feel right. Not enough follow through.

Shelves: paranormal-romance

There were a lot of parts of this book that I liked, but (especially in the second half) it felt like the romance was overwhelmed by the weight of too many side-plots.

I really liked this book (and will read more by this author), BUT-- I felt like I was reading three different stories & I didn't like 'Ally' (the main female character).
