Mi puntuación real para este libro sería 3,5/5; no obstante, para serle fiel a las matemáticas y también para ayudar a compensar un poco las puntuaciones negativas que ha recibido, opté por aproximarlo a 4. An interesting thriller, well written, with a few common ingredients in this type of narratives, and that was able to catch the reader attention. I considered it a good book until I reach the end of it… but one step at the time.

I raced through this book, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a translated version of an Italian crime novel set in New York. Vivien Light is an NYPD detective who gets assigned to a cold case when a mummified body is found in the wall of a building. When a building is blown up and the two seem to be connected, she finds herself working with journalist and photographer, Russell Wade. Between the two of them, there's enough "hidden demons" and "past I'd rather forget" to sink a battleship.

He throws in Vivien, a young, beautiful and – of course - extremely successful cop (despite many private problems) and a lost-son type author/photographer searching his true self. Not to forget the Kosovo conflict, a three-legged black cat and a dose of ventriloquism.

Well... I liked it, as my rating says. It was a little bit confusing at first and I was trying to figure out who was who and who did what and when. All those passages with cursive writing sometimes mess things up a little, but overall it was relatively easy to follow the story. I must say the end really surprised me, because I never suspected the bad guy to be... (yeah, like I'm going to tell! :P). Crime fiction is not my favourite genre, but when it is done well, I really do enjoy it. Emily and Jamie from Constable Robinson publishers regularly feed my reading needs, sending me a wide assortment of their titles to try. I started this book with high expectations, and the only reason I finished it was because I wanted to know how it ended. Once it ended, I felt that I had wasted my time. This book took far too long to conclude and the conclusion was kind of a crapshoot. I get where Faletti went with his characters, but I feel like this book had far too many loose-cannon subplots running around that distracted from the overall story. Loved this book. The beginning was a bit slow, but it didn't make it unpleasant in the least. I loved the way the plot unfolded and how the pace quickened. The characters were also likable, and I appreciated how relevant descriptions and dialogues were.
I removed one star because the ending somewhat disappointed me (but that's just a personal opinion, it has nothing to do with the way it was written) and because of my one big grievance with this book: its English version. I have never read a boo...more

Il nodo del romanzo si concentra in pochi capitoli, nei quali l'indagine prende subito la giusta piega.
I personaggi sono ben costruiti, descritti con accuratezza.
Prevedibile il flirt tra i due protagonisti.
Mi è piaciuto perché il colpevole non si identifica che alla fine (non dirò niente altro...).
Finalmente siamo fuori dal tunnel del "paranormale" (vedi: "Niente di vero tranne gli occhi" e "Fuori da un evidente destino").

'Io sono Dio ' (I am God) is a beautifully written, fast paced story about how one man looses himself in Vietnam and returns to the States full of hatred to the government that betrayed him so badly. The main story is the classic tale about finding the bad guy and stop him in time to save everyone from dying under cruel circumstances, but it's also about finding peace with whom you are, what you are. This was just an okay book. I'm not sure if it suffered from being translated from the original Italian but saying that could be a disservice to whoever did the translation.
The story isn't anything special, the characters aren't anything special, the plotting isn't anything special and the ending isn't anything special.
It's a little funny because at the conclusion, the author himself refers to the absurdity of the whole story and I couldn't help agreeing.

Contrariamente al solito (relativamente ai libri di Falletti) mi �� piaciuto di pi�� il finale dell'inizio.
Una storia intrecciata al solito, un paio di personaggi principali che per caso sopravvivono fino alla fine e, udite udite, un finale banalmente felice.
Come da aspettativa, �� nello stile di Falletti, si pu�� intuire il finale con un 50% di probabilit��. Con un minimo di acume lo si pu�� indovinare al 100%.
Una buona lettura estiva.

As primeiras setenta páginas demoram um pouco a desenvolver a história, mas nunca em risco de se perder o interesse. O enredo faz-nos querer saber mais e continuar a ler. Personagens verosímeis, fáceis de gostar pela sua humanidade. Um livro simples, muito bem escrito, sem cair na presunção.

I bought this book of a quick book sale on a website, had not heard of the author and neither of the book. It was my attempt at experimenting.
I do not see it as an un-putdownable book, it was a fine read about the search of a serial killer. But it isn't thrilling or gripping as one would expect a book of this genre to be. However, it is an engaging book, and the closure of the story is neat.
Not a bad investment but not something one would think of a prize to one's bookshelf.

Ci vogliono più di cento pagine perchè la storia inizi a decollare, poi scorre piuttosto bene fino ad un finale originale e avvincente.
Non mi ha convinto del tutto. Siamo ancora lontani dal Faletti di Io Uccido. Un passo avanti, però, rispetto alle prove precedenti.
Faletti conosce i meccanismi del thriller e quando se ne ricorda riesce a tenerti incollato alle pagine. Buono ma non eccezionale.

Anche per questo nuovo romanzo di Faletti ribadisco il giudizio già dato per i precedenti. Bello, scorrevole, intenso...a volte qualche passaggio superficiale, altre volte qualche coincidenza un pò troppo fortunosa... Rimane la mia personale impressione di non completa originalità. In sostanza un altro bel libro, ma anche la sensazione di avere già letto qualcosa di simile.
Con questo libro torna decisamente ai livelli toccati da "Io uccido",tanto che leggendolo ho provato le stesse emozioni, gli stessi brividi e la stessa curiosità (se nonaddirittura più forte) che avevo provato il suo libro d'esordio(appunto,"Io uccido"). Faletti riconferma la sua abilità nello scrivere storie intriganti, ricche di suspense e di personaggi ben strutturati.
Probabilmente il più bel libro di Faletti. Storia avvincente e originale, personaggi ben delineati, mistero e suspense mantenuti a ottimi livelli per tutto il libro. Gli unici difetti sono uno stile di scrittura forse un po' troppo ricercato in alcuni punti, e una leggera sensazione di "deus ex machina preventivo" che accompagna per buona parte del libro.

es el tercer libro que leo de faletti. y el mas débil. es lo malo de empezar con grandes libros como yo mato.
aclaro, es un buen libro, pero de los 3 que he leído del autor, es el que menos me ha gustado, aunque tiene pasajes buenazos como el cuento del lobo negro y el lobo blanco.

Molto molto bello!! Dopo la delusione di "Fuori da un evidente destino" con questo romanzo siamo tornati alla meraviglia del suo secondo romanzo "niente di vero tranne gli occhi": non si capisce chi sia l'assassino fino al colpo di scena finale in un crescendo si suspence e di emozioni davvero intrigante!

All in all, I thought this book was fantastic. I had a translated version and there were a few mistakes, but getting past that was easy as the plot was so gripping. From the first page you're hooked on the story of a serial killer who's letting off bombs all over New York. As Vivien Light and Russel Wade rush against the clock to discover the identity of the killer, presumed to have died years ago, becomes increasingly difficult as more and more elements cross their paths.

Gostei do enredo e das personagens, acho que a escrita é bastante visual mas ao longo do livro fui encontrando muitas fragilidades.
Parece que o autor não conseguiu conciliar uma melhor análise das personagens em detrimento da acção; no final fiquei com a sensação de algo incompleto!
