The one thing you can say about Spike Milligan is that he was Spike Milligan.
The man defined and redefined himself every day, and in Memories Of Milligan, Norma Farnes has collated a mass of contradictory anecdotes that all have one thing in common - a love of Spike.
It's not all positive, of course. Spike didn't live with his mental demons for so long without upsetting a few people, but by the end of the book you're left joining the consensus - it was their problem, not his.
