an interesting novel written in twelve bar blues AAB AAB [freestyle like ACD?] AAB AAB AAB AAB AAB AAB AAB AAB AAB AAB AAB AAB
about 3 people with similar life courses, sort a similar anyway, Johnny Cash of course had a 2nd life as a religious, zen master, indie rocker, while the other 2 characters did not/will not more than likely have a 2nd life coming even close to jophnny cash's.

i enjoyed this book. love the idea of the drifter and of the author, Johnny Cash and Alden Nowlen being characters. can't stand even the notion of the truth being touted in any poetry, but it is not done in any didactic way here, more of a stumbling towards. as in Nowlen's poems. what is true is perhaps the universality of loneliness and the fear of death. but the truth? meh. the isolated quote from Nowlen's poem almost made me not buy this book, but hearing the poet read changed my mind. it's a ...more
