Dubai Wives by Zvezdana Rashkovich: A trip to the exotic desert city

In Dubai Wives ZvezdanaRashkovich delivers a trip to Dubai without the airline ticket and additional expenses for hotel and restaurant and that was just what I was looking for. Zvezdana introduces the reader to the glamorous and the gritty in the exotic desert city on the Arabian Gulf that she currently calls home.

In truth I am still mourning the fact that I couldn’t attend the Dubai Literary Festival this year where I had hoped

good light holiday read, especially if you are going to DXB!

The characters are very true to life in Dubai, the sadness and the shallowness behind the glitz, all real.
Not much detail on the city really which is a shame, it would have added some depth for those who do not know the place.

From the onset, I clearly noted the eloquently intense and rich details of the author's writing, which immediately draws me in and impresses me--as both a reader/author. To say the least, fascinates me to read on. The author has that precise "je ne sais quoi" producing a page turner as well as educating me about Dubai without ever stepping foot on soil. This story "EXACTOMUNDO" reminds me of my cousin's observation as an airline stewardess often travelling to Dubai.

Insightful - entertaining reading with a glimpse into the rich and famous lifestyle in Dubai. A wonderful portrait of the expectations expats have of Dubai delivering all that is material and the price paid for it. A further insight into the disrespect of Muslim woman by their husbands and the contradictions.

I picked this book up thinking it would be a quick, light read. It was quick but not light!
It talks about behind-the-scenes Dubai, very brutal...
The writer has managed to keep it very focused despite having so many characters, perspectives and stories. Good but not a must-read.

This is a story about 8 women from different segments of Dubai society. Each chapter focuses on a different woman and the stories and characters wind up being interconnected. I like reading books set in different countries and I enjoyed when the author shared some information about Dubai.

The author was good at describing the wealth of Dubai and the hidden pain some of the women suffer behind the scenes. The character, Jane, who went through an enormous amount of plastic surgery to fit in was esp

I have bought this e-book on Amazon coz of two reasons: I'm interested in the Middle East, Arabic culture and lifestyle. And secondly, just for improving my English.
Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed. The book remainds me any soap series. No one good character! No one good family. Just cheatings, betrayals, sex, glamour things and stupied men and women.
I don't know, may be it's real life in Dubai but don't want to believe it.

It's soap-opera in one of the most dazzling and glamourous settings imaginable... Fluffy beach reading for sure, but it's entertaining enough. I was a bit confused by the initial introduction and point-of-view of so many characters... It takes a bit before their separate stories intertwine into a narrative, but once the "Jumeirah Janes" and friends get going, it gets good in that juicy, splashy, soap kind of way. Good for fun, but definitely not a serious read.

I really enjoyed this story. Very informative about how women from different class levels and cultures live in Dubai. The dynamics of the eight women was interesting - sometimes very sad and other times comical especially when it come to their obsession with plastic surgery. My only issue with the book is that it needs more editing.

This painted a very vivid picture of all types of women from different backgrounds and classes living in Dubai. I was surprised how many twist and turns this story had. They way Jewel planed to turn the tables was shocking, never doubt a scorned woman. It was an entertaining read though the writing needs a little improvement. This would make a great TV series or movie.

Mmmm..not happy with the book..I am not a fan of a book in which there is too much gloom.the book is a page turner for sure...may be bcoz you want atleast one of the many characters to be happy :-).. The story, the flow and the pace are definitely good...

This ended up being a really entertaining read. Plot twists and turns and it's fun to see how some of the characters end up connected to each other in the end. Not a life changer, but a fun book to read on the metro.

This is a behind the scenes look at 8 women in the very rich Dubai. The country has great wealth but the women still have very few rights. The glamour of this country we see on tv is not what these live. Great book.

A very interesting book made of many different stories ... of women from different backgrounds, different fates, but somehow all connected. Written in such a way that you can't stop reading it. Of course there are always some twists and these will shake you. All in all recommended read.

Can't believe I read this book. A monthly book club selection-not my choice. I am submitting this review so I can have representation of poorly written subject matter and a fictional waste of time to balance my five star reviews.

Intrigue, suspense, good plot lines. I can't say enough about this Book. Fiction, following the lives of eight different women living in Dubai whose lives inter-twine. A great read right to the twist in the end that you don't see coming.

Very quick read. I think there were too many characters in the book so it was a little difficult to keep track of who each person was however the story lines were interesting.

Great potential, could be turned into an interesting TV series, but the writing badly needs editing ...

This started out as a very intriguing look at the diversity of women in Dubai but had too many characters and lost depth. It had lots of potential but turned into a morning soap opera.
