The eighth book in the Last Chance Rescue series. I love Christy Reece but this one didn't quite stand up to her usual standards in my opinion. The beginning was slow and it was hard for me to keep reading at times. Thankfully, it sped up about halfway in and I was able to continue and finish it.

Jamie's initial thoughts about Dylan:
How could one man be so gorgeously handsome, so wonderfully heroic, so seemingly kind, but so incredibly obnoxious, rude and, well, just generally an asshole?

I finished Sweet Revenge this morning and as expected LOVED IT!

I loved Jamie. She appeared fragile and sweet, but she has amazing internal strength. I also loved her smart ass comments and inappropriate questions. When she asked about Dylan's testicles I burst out laughing! I'm glad no one was around to around to see...I'm sure I looked nuts!

My Take
This one had my heart in my mouth a few times!

The prologue provides a review of events in Last Chance , so we fully understand why this revenge is so sweet.

This particular story is just another reason why I think parents should be licensed. Talk about perpetuating the cycle!

Jamie is a rescuee that was abducted and abused for two months. BUT she is an extremely strong character. She grew up in a very difficult childhood and learned how to compartmentalize. As a result, she is out for revenge especially after the human trafficker that took her gets off completely from all of his charges, simply because of his political clout.

Dylan was Jamie's rescuer and when Jamie comes to LCR with her plan for revenge, Noah puts Dylan in charge of her training and her subterfuge. See, LCR fully wants to catch this bad-guy, but they don't want Jamie involved in the op. The problem is that she is determined and will enact her own plan if they don't cooperate with her. So Noah has charged Dylan with training her and keeping her occupied while LCR does their work. She is smart. She is savvy. She proves her toughness over and over again. Jamie is the perfect kick-ass chick in a school teachers, girl-next-door persona. I love that!

Jamie has been completely infatuated with Dylan ever since her rescue. He has had the same issue, but is better at hiding it than she is. Dylan had his own absolutely wretched upbringing and knows that he's not fit for any kind of relationship. As a result, he holds Jamie at arms length throughout her training by being gruff and, at times, almost hateful in his treatment of her. I had a little bit harder time connecting with his character because he is so completely cold to her so much of the time. Even when you knew he didn't mean it or want to hurt her, it was still painful to read some of the time. The thing that makes this almost acceptable is how Jamie can deal with it. This girl is tough. Even when her heart is breaking, she maintains her control and outward calm about the situation.

This was an interesting book. I have read all of Christy Reece's LCR books and am a huge fan. I have always said that she writes the best evil, low-down bad guys. This book was different because you got to see so much of the human side of the bad guy. You saw his remorse over punishing those around him. It was almost a little sickening to realize that you could feel pity for this guy and his sickness. You get to know his entire family (and honestly fall in love with all those characters) who don't know what is really involved behind the scenes of his life. It was an interesting dichotomy. I have a feeling that we will see a lot more of his daughter Giselle in a few years down the road (at least I hope so....her & Raphael...yes, we need that HEA.)(less)

Sweet Revenge was a good book but not great or as good as some of the other books by this author.

Jamie, McKenna's sister went through hell at the hand of a sadistic monster when LCR and Dylan rescued her. After months of therapy and being disappointed by the legal system Jamie is ready for payback and to bring that man and his organization down one way or another, so she gives LCR boss Noah a chance to help her.

Although I enjoyed this book alot, I struggled with the beginning somewhat. Purely for reasons that irritated me due to one of the MC’s, Dylan Savage. We met Jamie Kendrick (McKenna’s sister) in ‘Last Chance’ which is the last book in the 2nd LCR Trilogy. She was abducted by a maniac who sold her to an evil bastard for his son’s entertainment! Dylan who is an LCR operative, rescues her, at the right time. One more day and she would have been raped by Lancelot (Lance) Reddington. Stanford Reddington is undoubtedly pond scum, scum of the earth or part of the dregs of humanity – pick one, or all. He’s in the slave/human trafficking business. Urgh. After her ordeal she finds out that all charges against Reddington have been dropped due to the lack of proof. Great.

From the moment Jamie is rescued by Dylan, she is smitten and so is he. He just won’t admit it. They’ve parted ways and Jamie can’t stop thinking about him. She approaches Noah McCall, the head of LRC and asks him about training. She wants to be a part of this vile man’s takedown which Noah is totally against. He’s given first refusal but she’s adamant that whether he helps her or not, she will do what is necessary. Besides, she believes that if she’d had training the first time around, she probably wouldn’t have been taken. Noah wants to know how she plans on infiltrating Reddington’s residence but Jamie is one step ahead. First the training, then she spills what she knows. He warns her that to proceed she must let McKenna know before she embarks on her honeymoon and he needs clearance from her doctor. He will then let Dylan know. Yes, he’s going to be her trainer.

Enter Dylan Savage once again. Right from the get go, he’s just arrogant. Back and forth they go with Dylan’s purpose really being, get the info LCR needs, as there is no way in hell they are going to let Jamie become involved. She knows more than she’s let on. She’s being used I guess but at the same time, I understand LCR’s concerns. Firstly, she’s not trained although it’s now being provided for her, and secondly she’s a school teacher for goodness’ sakes. Even with all the training, she is just not cut out to confront these kinds of people. She will end up getting herself killed. About play is fair though as she held up her side of the bargain and told Noah how it’s possible to infiltrate Reddington’s residence, yet she’s kept back further information. I can understand why a lot of people have said that she’s TSTL, yet I get that for once, she wants to be the strong one and prohibit this vile being from further continuing destroying innocent lives. She needs to be involved and once she’s accomplished what she sets out to do, she can then put it behind her. Again, some find it hard to believe that a school teacher would actually have the nerve to head off to an island and try take down someone such as Reddington. If you really think about it and put yourself in a situation such as this, surely the anger that’s built up inside gives you or makes you feel you have the strength it takes to accomplish something this enormous. Strength comes from within and often times, we are stronger than we believe whether we are a mere school teacher, a black belt or Conan the Barbarian. The need is the same.

Towards the end of the book when Dylan finally opens up and explains to Jamie all about his past, one starts to feel sorry for him, what it doesn’t do however, is excuse his behaviour. The book concludes with Jamie having managed to find work at Reddington’s residence without LCR or McKenna’s knowledge. However much she hates Reddington, she finds that his wife and children with the exception of Lance, are actually normal, lovely people. I found it sad that Reddington has kept his family on this island, sequestered from the rest of the world, for years. What you learn about his wife, Sarah, is heart wrenching. With the unexpected help of someone on the island, Jamie is able to get what she needs. Dylan of course has managed to work his way into becoming one of Reddington’s chief ‘snatchers’ and is eventually taken to meet this low life. In addition to Jamie and Dylan, Raphael has once again made his way onto the island by invitation no less for purely different reasons. But that’s for you to read about.

All in all, about 65% of the way in, the story really picked up and I found myself not being so infuriated with Dylan as I was coming to understand more and more of what had gone before. Still, he seriously needed a good smack or something. As for Jamie, I loved her. She’s just so sweet, you could hug her to death.

There is one more left in his LCR trilogy (the 3rd), Sweet Reward. Let’s see what happens….I know it’s about Jared Livingston and Mia. Will be sad when the series comes to an end but who knows, maybe Christy Reece will add a 4th trilogy to it? ;)

A great read with a few surprising insights.

Noah finally agrees provided she gives them the information on how to get inside Reddington's organization once her training is finished. Of course Dylan gets the assignment as he has already told Noah, he wants in on the op that would bring down Reddington. Dylan is the guy who rescued Jamie and she is some what surprised when Noah tells her it will be Dylan doing the training. She gets the impression from him,that he dislikes her, or holds something against her.
Once the training begins, this is where the book really slows down, until we get to the actual mission. Dylan fights his attraction to Jamie but eventually he loses that war. They have a very brief romance. They are some funny moments during training,
Jamie comes across as being some what innocent and vulnerable, but not easily put off in her efforts to achieve her goals and believe me she had to be strong working with Dylan.
Dylan, is like a lot of the LCR operatives, he has a painful past. He is scarred by some circumstances that has him believing his not good enough. Jamie has a few good words for him, to sum them up 'Jerk' I was surprised to learn of his profession before joining LCR.
Raphael Sachez who was rescued with LCR Cole Mathison and who also helped with Jamie's rescue gets involved not to Noah's liking, Raphael wants to work with Noah but first he has to finish in collage. Sarah, Reddington's wife, the isolation she had to live over 20 years, you could say it was a prison. except she had her children. You just had to feel for her and in the end you have to say she was the one who helped bring down Reddington.

The last book Sweet Justice had that bit more action, plus LCR were involved more, maybe it was because there was some investigative work to be done. As with this book we already knew who LCR were after,they just needed to get the proof. A good read but would like to have seen some more action.

Firstly, I have to say that I have found a NEW, AMAZING Author in Christy Reece. And Secondly, I have to say that I might just like Sweet Revenge better than Sweet Justice....or MAYBE EVEN!!

I loved the timeline of Sweet Revenge...The whole story doesn't take place over three days but months. Cristy sucks you in at the first page and then brings you along on a Very Suspenseful, Very Emotional journey with Jamie and Dylan.

Another great addition. Though I haven't been floored by any LCR books, I've got to say that at this point, I'm very impressed. Each book has stood on its own and each couple is firmly entrenched into my romantic suspense library. (The one in my head) I feel comfortable in Last Chance Rescue world, and it's been nice getting to know all of those involved in the organization.

We first met Jamie Kendrick in her sister's book Last Chance. She had been beaten and sold to Stanford Reddington. Dylan Savage was part of the team that saved her.

5 months later Dylan begins to train Jamie to be a LCR operative. Jamie's out for revenge against Reddington as he has gotten away with what he did to her and was still running human trafficking of women business.

I love the LCR series I have all of them. I have even loaned them to my friends. The stories are well written. I love how the main characters have their own story to tell but yet still enter twine with other characters from the last books. The author lets the readers knows how these characters lives have progressed. I do not like to give too much details in my reviews I leave that to others why spoil the storyline. I cant wait for "Sweet Reward"

wow what a great story... at some point i will learn to expect to want to slap the men in this series so they come to their senses. The hero in this story is another thick headed but fabulously wonderful man. Hero is definitely the best word for him in every sense.
Our heroine is a lady we can all aspire to be. Taking the bull by the horns and making sure that the wrongs done to her cannot be done to another.

My only complaint...and it isn't a big one, is that I wish knowing it was the last book, we could have revisited more LCR friends before signing off. Jamie and Dylan have to be one of my new favorite couple of this entire series!! I loved them together!! It did get frustrating at times, but it was all worth it in the end! This one definately had the suspense and steamyness to keep me going and not want to stop! Jamie was such a wonderful character; so strong and vulnerable all at the same time... it made her seem so real and relatable!! i was also glad that Mckenna and Lucas were in the story more; not a whole lot but more than Sweet Justice...more

Christy Reece you are my hero once again. I just love this series and specialy this one.
Dylan and Jamie are a lovely couple and they both have their share of past monsters and I loved their story but I also loved Raphael and the Reddington family (the good part, of course)
I would love to read a story with Raphael and Giselle as main characters.
