Another now out-of-print favorite of my childhood, this book about two girls growing up on a cattle ranch in Hawaii was another favorite of mine and is still a really fun read. Published in 1940, it has so much wonderful information about what life was like on the ranches, so many beautiful descriptions of the islands, and so much history woven in that it draws an amazingly vibrant and enchanting picture of life in Hawaii in the early and mid 20th Century.
