At the end of Strife I wondered about the limitations of a first person narrator when the focus of the story needs to change. This one was written from Hunter's perspective which addresses the issue I guess. I am not really a fan of first person narratives typically. Even when they're done well, as this series is, I still find them limiting. Ten books in and the story is continuing to grow. I find myself wondering if Justine Courceau is going to cause serious trouble and hoping that Hu...more

First one caught me off guard because it was told from Hunter's point of view instead of Morgan. Nine books straight of Morgan's story then suddenly *poof* we are going to tell Hunter's. It actually makes sense, but it took a moment to adjust too.
Second one doesn't even take place in the present. It is the "Origins" as it says. I thought this one was really cool. To see what the ancestor went through and see how she created something so big. I can see where things were a little rough for her, bu...more

I was a little hesitant when I learned that the majority of the volume would not be told for the main character Morgan's POV. But I must say that I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book despite the change in POV. Seeker is told form Hunter's POV and I really liked learning more about him in this section. he was more humorous than I thought and at times he was a total guy, yet he was still very much Hunter and if you have read this series you know who that is. Hunter has to leave Widow's...more
So, I still like Hunter, but I was NOT happy about Justine and now I'm weary of his love for Morgan. That poor girl has been supportive and understanding from day one. She doesn't deserve that. Oh, and the fact that all of Origins focused on Rose, an ancestor of Morgan, pissed me off to no end. That story could have been summed up easily as a side story and not have taken away from the characters we really care about. As for Alisa, glad she finally came to terms with witches. Can't believe about...more
While I have enjoyed this series and will read it through to the end, this volume really irritated me. The characters started to feel very flat and one-dimensional, and not very interesting. I also find the timeline for this series to be incredibly unbelievable- that this entire series has happened in the space of four months or so. Also, the abilities of these witches have surpassed Harry Potter levels of incredible. Morgan is becoming a Christ figure who can do anything, and I find it rather M...more
I'm always captivated by the Wiccan world. I don't know what it is, but I love it. Cate Tiernan surely does not disappoint when it comes to the Sweep series. This book in particular was wonderful.
The first part of the book was mostly told in Hunter's point of view with some diary entries from Morgan. I found this part a bit annoying. I simply did not see why Hunter stayed there for so long. He should have just taken him and left. But that's just me.
The second book was told from the past and I l...more

I have been reading these books since I was twelve and I never tire of them, witty, interesting and full of occult references that are well researched and accurate. This series also feature some of my most beloved characters I have ever read, I would throughly recommend this book to anyone interesting in Wicca or just in a very well written young adult novel with very loveable characters and plot lines that constantly startle and amaze you!
This volume was really good. We learn that there is another blood witch in town. She struggles with her heritage at first but grows into it in a big way. She helps Morgan, Hunter and his father basically save everyone they love. It seems that at the end of this volume that all evil is vanquished. But it can't be that easy. For one, there's one more vomume left. I can't wait to get into it and see how this story ends. Also in this volume, we get to learn alot about Hunter's life and past. And we...more

So far I am really liking all the sub stories...I like how we go back in time but the characters are all connected. I also like Alisa's story, maybe even better than Morgans.
If anything I've missed this series and I'm glad that I came back to it after so long. While we hardly get any of Morgan's POV in these three books, it was nice being back with these familiar characters.
Although... I do have to say that the way Morgan reacted to what Hunter had done in the beginning of the 9th book wasn't really appropriate... And honestly, it was quite unbelievable. But overall, I did really like this book. :)

I don't usually skim or skip sections of books, I have to read ALL of a story, but I totally skimmed and skipped the second book in this volume. I get that it's important to the story, but it seemed long winded and I was simply uninterested or invested in the characters. The writing could (and should) have presented the information with far fewer pages.
This was my favorite book in the series. The second book in this one was a diary of the main characters ancestor Rose. It was from 1692 and I enjoyed reading what life was like during that time. Witches were being burned or hanged even if they had no proof. It seems like if you simply decided you didn't like someone you could just accuse them of being a witch and then they were murdered.

"was born in New Orleans, LA, in 1961. New Orleans is one of the most interesting American cities, and it has an incredibly rich and exotic culture that had a profound influence on me. Kids in other cities have lemonade stands; we sold voodoo gris-gris and made wax dolls in the likenesses of our enemies. It's a very beautiful city, and the constant heat and humidity make gardens grow out of contro...more
