Wow, I can't believe the second book is already coming out! The first one was OK. I liked The Lost Hero, the first of the Hero's of Olympus series better. I really hope this book is good, better than The Red Pyramid. The cover art looks nice, and the title seems cool. HOPEFULLY this book is worth the wait, but I don't want to get overly excited since The Red Pyramid wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. I will totally still read it though! I hope the like this one, and I also can't wait for The...more

The Throne of Fire is the second book in The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan, which tells of the adventures of modern day fourteen-year-old Carter Kane and his thirteen-year-old sister Sadie Kane, as they discover that they are descended from the ancient Egyptian pharaohs Narmer and Ramesses the Great.

To be honest, I enjoyed this book more than its predecessor, The Red Pyramid. And I just enjoyed the story more and the humor. But unfortunately, its still not as good as the Percy Jackson and the...more

There were things Sadie and Carter had to do,
like saving the world from the biggest serpent ever, or knocking babbon out of the bridge.
things like that.
but there were also secret things each of them wanted to do and to do that, they had to sacrifice some things. even if there were chances the world was going to collapse in five-days...

for some things, I felt a little disappointed about this book. which is, pretty suck since I was so dreaded to read it.
still, such a fun book you must never miss...more

okay, 2 stars rate has never happened with Rick Riordan's works, until now. I found The Throne of Fire is really well written with some great twist but this book is so, unoriginal. Let's see.. The world is at the end.Check. Two kids are their savior. Check. Mob of monster and obstacles. Check.

The way they saved the world was predictable. I can even guess that when they gambled with Khonsu. And one more thing, the main charactors were Sadie AND Carter, not just Sadie. I felt like everything was...more

The exciting adventure of Carter and Sadie Kane continues in the 2nd installment of the “(Kane Chronicles) the Throne of Fire”. With the threat of the serpent god Apophis returning from his ancient prison, the Kane siblings set out to resurrect the only being capable of battling the evil serpent god. Ra the former Pharaoh of the Gods and the greatest of them has been missing for thousands of years, faded into history after his daughter the Goddess Isis tricked him to revealing his secret name an...more

How many different scenarios can one man create in which the world is about to end? [No, Bog, I'm the one typing. Get away from the keyboard.] All you have to do is read Rick Riordan's books to find out.

In the Throne of Fire, the world is about to end. Again. [Gasp. Sorry, Bog just poked me in the ribs.]

Riordan's prose is generally quite tight, and well written. [Thank you, Bog, I would like a drink.] But, he chose to use the same ridiculous [Yes, Bog, I could have used a stronger word here, bu...more

The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan is one of my favorite books ever. The pacing of this book was perfect. There were not many parts that dragged on for a long time, and if there were, they kept me interested. During the action scenes, the timing of the story was perfect. When ever there was a battle scene, It didn't go on forever, and it wasn't too short. The pacing never made me feel bored, and I enjoyed it a lot. The voice is very is very believable. The story is in 1st person which, to me, h...more

Griega, romana, nórdica, egipcia, casi...more

I really love this book because it has lots os adventure and mystery. For example Carter and Sadie go into the Duat(A magical place) and try to awaken the sun god Ra(p.400). There is lots of danger ahead like Gods and Serpents(p.410). Another example why it is a good mystery also is that their is a secret that Bes(THE DWARF GOD) is keeping a secret from them(p.160). I really think that you would like this book if you like adventure stories and action happening in the story. One challenge I had w...more

Friends of mine that hate reading are some of the biggest fans of these books. It's great for stubborn non-reading teens/kids. Carter and Sadie are extremely relate-able characters. And now begins my long opinion on Sadie's "romances." First, she is just 13! At that age you should be focused in friends and childhood, because you simply aren't mature enough yet for a relationship. But anyway, Walt is 16, Sadie is 13. That is two completely different maturity levels! I also highly doubt a 16 year...more

A thrilling sequel to "The Red Pyramid" in the Kane chronicles! This sequel is nothing short of an action packed book with some humor! It's almost been a while since their dad released the gods and now they have recruits. After separating from Horus and Isis, Sadie and Carter have been working by themselves in a effort to convince the First Nome that they mean well. Although they don't have as much power at a time since Horus and Isis have left their bodies they are still making good progress. R...more

The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan is the second of the Kane Chronicles. Carter and Sadie working apart and later together have do everything in their power to stop Apophis and awaken the sun god Ra.

It opens strong with Carter trying to liberate a magical item from a museum, only to have things go horribly wrong. It's a dramatic and funny opening but that initial energy and humor slowly peters out.

Although I normally adore Egyptian mythology, the pacing felt off here. The chapter alternate betwe...more

I started out trying to read this in print, but it just didn't feel right. I finally got the audio version and it was much better. For one thing, despite the mention of Sadie starting to lose her accent, I heard no evidence which was much more believable. There seemed to be less of the gods in this book which was slightly disappointing. There was more name dropping (lots of it including dozens that I'd never dreamed could have existed), but not a lot of interaction with Horus, Isis and Anubis (a...more

It's really weird how it isn't "out" and yet I've already got the book. Just got it the local Popular bookstore but I haven't read it. Yet.

The second book in The Kane Chronicles, so there are spoilers ahead for The Red Pyramid.

It's told in the same format -- as if a transcript from a recording, made by Sadie and Carter in turn, with (small) interjections from their current setting. And instead of merely intimidating that the Egyptian-god-related characters don't go into Manhattan because it's someone else's bailiwick, and mentioning Hermes at a different time, in this one, Carter positively mentions seeing winged horses over Manhat...more

Enough is enough. The kids are alternatively characterless or annoying. They make stupid decision after stupid decision, and then when things look hopeless, they get bailed out by another Egyptian god who appears out of nowhere. Then, after they have been bailed out and rescued, again and again, everyone bows down to these two idiots for the wonderful things that they've done.

Here, once again Riordan's hero kids are faced with the end of the world coming in five days. So what does the girl do? S...more

As always Rick Riordan manages to impress. I first read the Percy Jackson series, which made me aware of this author. As soon as I finished the first book which is Percy Jackson and the lightning thief, it made me want to read more by the author. The Kane chronicles is my favourite series, in this book the throne of fire, Carter one of the main characters of the story merges with Horus god of combat whilst his sister merges with Isis god of spells. In this second book Sadie and Carter continue t...more

I really enjoyed reading the book The Throne of Fire. It starts with two children named Carter and Sadie Kane, they are always fighting monsters and gods, but when they accidentally release a hord of gods they have to find a way to stop them. In this hord of gods they have unleashed the most powerful god named Apophis which has come back to take his place in the throne. To stop him Carter, Sadie and their trainees must find the three scrolls of The Book of Ra and speak its incantations. Unfortu...more

Okay, I had two problems with this. First, Sadie doesn't fit her age. I know it shouldn't be a big deal, but pretty much from beginning to end this drives me crazy. I worked with twelve and thirteen-year-old girls for awhile and Sadie fits more my experience with fourteen and fifteen-year-old girls. I know that she's always saying how precocious she is, but if you feel the need to assert that regularly as an author, it seems to me you should just upgrade her age. Also, I can see a thirteen-year-...more

Aqueles que gost...more

I just finished The Serpent's Shadow - the third and last instalment in The Kane Chronicles - and decided that instead of reviewing only that one book, I'd review that whole trilogy.
Now, I love Rick Riordan, he's an amazing writer - probably one of my favourites. He did not disappoint with The Kane Chronicles. It was a great trilogy, and I'm quite sad that it's over. It's focused a lot on Egyptian mythology, just like Percy Jackson and the Olympians in on Greek myth...more

The Throne of Fire, Rick Riordan
Fantasy, 446 pages

The Throne of Fire is the second installment in the Kane Chronicles, a series about the exploits of two young Egyptian magicians known as Carter and Sadie Kane. However, this time, they are accompanied by their apprentices, specifically a boy named Walt Stone. The Kanes are godlings, or hosts of gods, and they must use their magic to awaken the ruler of the gods, Ra, and thwart the serpent Apophis' plan to swallow up the sun and have Chaos rule t...more

After two months of waiting (and avoiding spoilers), I finally got my hands on this book! I was so excited to start reading it and once I did, I could not stop! The Throne of Fire was one hell of an adventure. Whereas The Red Pyramid had been an introduction to the world where Egyptian gods live among us, The Throne of Fire continues with Carter and Sadie trying to save the world from Apophis.

This book is in the same format as The Red Pyramid, told from Carter and Sadie’s alternating point of v...more

The Throne of Fire is a much more enjoyable book. It has all the positives of The Red Pyramid – fast paced action, snappy dialogues, presentation of Egyptian myths in a fun way…with less of the negatives (too many characters, undeveloped main characters). This time around, there is more focus on the main characters Carter and Sadie, and it makes the book a little less distracted than the first one.

The adventure also starts from the get go. Apophis, the God of Chaos is rising and preparing to des...more

Ever since the gods of Ancient Egypt were unleashed in the modern world, Carter Kane and his sister Sadie have been in trouble. As descendants of the House of Life, the Kanes have some powers at their command, but the devious gods haven't given them much time to master their skills at Brooklyn House, which has become a training ground for young magicians.

And now their most threatening enemy yet - the chaos snake Apophis - is rising. If they don't prevent him from breaking free in a few days' t

Fantasy- stuff that couldn't happen
Throne of fire is about two magicans who have to raise the god Ra in order to save the world.
I would recommend this book for anyone who likes to laugh.
I gave it a 5 because it is funny and doesn't stop the action.
