i made an ass out of myself in front of the author of this book, who happens to be the head of the graduate school research center which controls my program. it had to do with me not knowing this book and that he wrote it. as a result, i've committed myself to reading it, and it's really good. far reaching and impeccably researched, it's a fantastic critique of what it means to be modern.
