All right, Love, let's get to it then, shall we? As some of you might remember, I read 'A Scottish Ferry Tale'. I even reviewed it. If you are a sleuth at heart, you can sort through my old posts and find it. No need to really, as I will sum up my feelings of book one, but you can always go see for yourself if it suits you.
Book one didn't impress me much. It wasn't *bad* (as in I couldn't finish it, it suffered murderous character flaws, massive editing errors); it just wasn't *good* (as More...

Cassie Wrentham is moving to Scotland. She will finally be with Ralph Macnair, the (much) older but charismatic Scotsman she fell for on her first visit to the country. Cassie hopes she is finally ready to settle down and start a great life, but her doubts start crowding her way. She worries about finding a job, affording rent, making new friends, and if she should marry Ralph. Would it only be for convenience and a Visa? Or were she and Ralph truly meant to be?

Scotland by Starlight is More...

So, I'm not sure how I feel about this. For the most part, I liked it, but it kind of felt like nothing really happened, even though things were happening. Does that make sense? There were a lot of little, inconsequential conflicts, but no real big ones, so it didn't feel like the book really had a climax. Still, I like the characters and did enjoy seeing how things turned out for them. Until the epilogue. I feel like that was completely unnecessary. Maybe it's just me, but this is not the kind More...

It has been a while since my last visit with Cassie and her knight in acting armor Ralph in A Scottish Ferry Tale. I missed them. This sequel starts with Cassie’s move across the pond to Scotland to begin her life with Ralph.

They are disgustingly in love. And they make sure they tell each other that. Repeatedly. In sickeningly sweet detail. As if we would ever forget how much them mean to each other and want to be together. Forever. And when they aren’t talking about love, More...

Who doesn’t like a fairytale that includes a princess and a prince? I loved the story of Ralph and Cassie. The kind of love shared between the both of them is a rare kind of love. I loved the growth in the characters and how lively they are. The author researched the Scottish culture well and represented those characters well. My only warning is beware of the Scottish language. Some Scottish language is used in the book. This book is a very enjoyable read and will highly recommend t More...

Dear Nancy Volkers: What you had here was gold, but you sort of ruined it with your epilogue. I recommend tossing the Epilogue and starting on a third book that isn’t so depressing.

Dear Readers: If you want a happy ending: DO NOT READ THE EPILOGUE. If you want to feel depressed on a Friday, go ahead and read it.’

So yes, I loved the book and I loved the series, but I guess my feelings about the Epilogue are obvious. Gah, today is supposed to be a good day, but I want to cry :\

a sequel...like all other sequels, it does not live up to the first book. but still an interesting read...cosy and warm and loving. the fist book leaves the story and characters hanging, and this one does complete the story. dont agree with the ending...sad...made my cry. but then just for that i would commend the writer. its a tough job to make people laugh or cry with books.

so if you liked 'a scottish ferry tale' do follow it up with the sequel to complete the story.

Nancy Volkers wrote two of the most interesting characters. Cassie continued to exasperate me here and there with her indecisiveness and her putting up roadblocks, but the character of Ralph was wrote with so much love for Cassie that even when he became unsure it was evident that they loved each other. As the issue of age came up again and again, I started to have a sense of dread fill me. But the relationship continued to grow and the inevitable wedding takes place. However, there is an epilog More...

This was a sequel and I didn't know what could or would be done with these characters although I could see from the first book that enough was left hanging. If you enjoy Scottish settings for contemporary romance, give A Scottish Ferry Tale a try and then follow up with this sequel.

Would have given 4 stars, but made the mistake of reading the Epilogue, and it ruined it for me. DON'T read the Epilogue and it's a wonderful story!!

I didn't like this one as much as the first, the main character started annoying me early in the book. I kept hoping I would like it more.
