Could Kaz be any more adorable? I don't think so. I loved him. He's the owner of brothel on an outlaw planet. He inherited the business from his abusive father and is trying in his own way to make things better for the escorts that work for him and his manager Laina.

Jathan is a diplomat working important inter-species negotiations on the planet. He comes back annually and orders an escort from Kaz's brothel each year. Due to a mix-up Kaz ends up in his bed. There's instant attraction on both si
Stars: 2.5/5

With a fairly strong beginning, and a relatively enjoyable story, the final 15% of the book was disappointing as it too easily fixed issues and solved everything. Although I enjoyed the interactions between Jathan and Kazha, the events that happen outside of the apartment do very little to hold my interest. Jathan's work in negotiations is interesting but brushed over, which is understandable to avoid a politically heavy book, but there was something happening with R'Kos that

This was sweet and hot and hit on some serious subjects. It's allegorical to current times in regards to those subjects. This is rather obvious in the beginning, almost getting in the way of the story, but then things even out and the story takes center stage.

Kaz and Jay are good together, definitely nice chemistry. I didn't even mind that Jay called Kaz his "sweet thing", it worked. ;)
Bonus: at least the author waits awhile before bringing out the 'lover' term and only as a descriptor, never to

Oh my! Is it hot in here to you? No? Whew. I guess it’s just me then after reading this book.. *fans self*

If you’re a fan of M/M erotic romance, especially in a sci-fi/futuristic setting, I think that you are going to love this book.

It was sweet, sexy, romantic, and intense. The sci-fi elements were enough to add a bit of side interest, but not enough to distract from Jay and Kaz’s relationship, and the social dynamic
Ok, so I’m not normally a fan of rent boy stories, I just struggle with the whole paying for sex thing and multiple partners. I’m not a stickler for monogamy so much as commitment to the one or ones you choose. But this, this I adored! I really enjoyed both these characters so much and a lot of that probably stems from the fact that Kaz isn’t exactly a rent boy per se…he just manages a bunch of them.

Kazha Deinos inherited his position as the owner of the Spice ‘n’ Solace brothel, but while it ma

Everything I like about a good story with an o.k. length. This one felt longer. I love SciFi and Rent boy so when you put them together you get a real amazing book for me. I liked the world - and would have liked more in it so I'm glad to see there may be more in the series. I liked Kaz and OneMoon both - the sex was very hot and the lite kink is welcomed and felt very authentic. The nice thing about SciFi is normal believability goes out the door. Here Kaz was such a wonderful character - and f ...more
Spice 'n' Solace isn't quite a 3-star book, but I've decided to round up because the sex is hot, and that covers a multitude of sins. Unfortunately, it can't quite cover up the fact that the relationship between Kaz and Jay never extends much further than the bedroom, or that all of the seemingly-insurmountable difficulties they face get resolved way too easily at the end. I think the problem is the length. With more room for development, both the romance and the plot would be stronger. Still, i ...more
So, um..... Not the most fantastic book. I can see faults in it left, right and middle. No-brainer with way too much sex. Jay especially was a disappointment. The best negotiator the human race ever produced couldn't perform a simple background check or conduct an adequate research.

But it's a light and amusing read that worked for me at this particular time (if anything) and I am giving it 3.5 stars, rounding up to 4.

Off to buy fix #2.

I liked the story but was disappointed by the rushed ending.
Super sweet and sexy sci fi book. I'm tagging BDSM but it's pretty light - more kink. Delicious :)
General Spoiler Warning

It was cute! I like me some D/s :)

Just some thoughts:

→Brothel Owner Kaz and Blushing Virgin Kaz were two different people. The bridge between them--some internal struggle for Kaz to mentally turn off that toughened business owner--would have made this more believable.

→To enjoy this, you have to accept the brothel owner with a heart of gold thing.

→A few lazy explanations, for example: Come on, Kaz would have known he couldn't hide his injuries by turning the lights down

Kaz is the owner of Spice 'n' Solace, the best male brothel in the Galactic Alliance. He has been hiding his sexuality from his friends because, even if gay marriages are allowed and male prostitution is legal, there is a lingering homophobia in the society he lives in. Kaz was also beaten by his father when he was young because of his sexual preferences and although he has indulged in sex with men, it's always been as a top, because being on the receiving end is considered diminishing. But Kaz ...more
As of late, I have become interested in Sci-Fi Romance. So when I read and enjoyed first Alien N' Outlaw, I decided that I really wanted to read this one which fell chronologically before that one. There are a few crossover characters, but it really won't matter which order the two are read in.

This is a sweet, but quick romance between two unlikely people. Kaz is a brothel owner in a seedy part of the city. His brothel is successful and the best because of the way he treats his workers. His brot
Kaz is the owner of a high-class gay brothel. Jathan is the official negotiator between their race and the Ankylos. He inherited his job from his father because the Ankylos only want to negotiate with their blood line. His father did something positive to the other race during the last war between the two race, and only his descendant can carry the negotiation. Consequently, Jathan has to produce heir. Otherwise, the two races would go to war again. When Kaz is misunderstood as a whore, he almos ...more
I enjoyed the audio version of this book. It is a short one, but it packs a lot in. The MCs relationship is sweet but also very hawt. Lots of smex but done well, but not a lot of world building. This is the first book before Alien and the Outlaw (which I listened to first). Doesn't really matter, both are stand alone reads. The narrator is very good in both. It was under $5 when I bought it and worth it at that price, but it is not worth a credit.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Not much world building here, which surprised me for the first book in a space/sci-fi series (m/m romance notwithstanding). Regardless, the characters were endearing, the dialogue fresh, and the plot riveting. I'm enthralled.

Bottom line: Definitely continuing on with this series.

One gripe: This title is not lendable on Kindle. Boo! I don't like that.
The story started out strong but did end a little easily. I admit I rated this not so much on how well written it was but because I just liked the story. It was short and I think if it had been longer some of the plot issues would have been ironed out. I loved the premise and Kaz was just so fun:) A fun read.
I always expect scifi-books to be dark and gloomy which is why I seldomly read them, but this book wasn't like that at all. I had an exited smile on my face nearly the whole time I read this story.

Definitely a feel-good read! 5 stars!! :D
A negotiator and a brothel owner in a sexy sci-fi. For some reason I thought this would be a bdsm story, turned out to be more romantic and sweet, but still hot. Loved the funny alien who smelled Kaz on Jathan.
Great world- building, and got me in the sci-fi mood. Had to read the next one, just to get in the groove. As always, K.C. Burns doesn't disappoint.
I wasn't expecting much... but this was a lot better than I expected. Solid story and world building. Looking forward to the next!
This was a fairly short sci-fi story heavy on sex and light on plot. We get the basics of the world and a little bit of set up for Kaz and Jathan then mix them together. There wasn't any real big surprises with the story line and much what happened was pretty easy to guess from the beginning. The shorter length worked well for this story instead of getting bogged down in world building it focused on the relationship and wasn't long enough for the sex to get boring or repetitive. I was disappoint ...more
3,5 stars for the plot,4,5 stars for the smokin hot sex scenes!
Narrator: Richard Magnus

This series looks like following the likes of the author's other series, Toronto Tales - could have been comfort reads/audios that I'd go back to again and again, except it doesn't quite make it. Of course, I could be wrong and this sci-fi series will turn out better.

In any case, Spice 'n' Solace has some pleasing bits, but in the end, I found it wanting. A lot is made of Jay needing to marry and beget an heir because his role as

Spice 'n' Solace by KC Burn is a futuristic science fiction novel that oozes male sexuality. Wonderfully written with some truly endearing character, this was a quick read with an amazing emotional appeal. Perfect for anyone who loves science fiction novel with hot men with passions that run even hotter!

The premise of this story was definitely one that I hadn't seen before focusing on the owner of a brothel called Spice 'n' Solace, an establishment that ca

Sexually speaking, I am straight. Very straight. As much as I enjoy the pleasure of the flesh, I don’t think I will enjoy those of my own kind. There’s no doubt about that, and I seriously did not think that I would one day read an erotica featuring gays or lesbians. But so it happen, I did. I accidentally request this book, Spice n’ Solace for review in Netgalley by mistake, and boy, did I have a shock of my life when I flipp
Jathan One-Moon is a renowned negotiator who once every year must renegotiate the rights of humans against an alien race. To keep relaxed during this stressful time Jathan always hires male escorts from the Spice 'n' Solace agency known for its disease-free escorts. The agency has recently been under attack by a saboteur that it's owner Kazha Deinos has been desperately trying to unearth. Unfortunately, on the eve of Jathan's first night in town, Kaz is forced to step in when the saboteur causes ...more
This is more of a science fiction romance than fantasy, which isn’t my usual cup of tea. But I really enjoyed Jathan and Kaz and their struggles to be okay with themselves in the face of societal pressure. Jathan has a high-stress job that has been passed down in his family for generations, and looks to Kaz’s brothel for release. Only he never expects that his prostitute is the owner himself. For Kaz, it’s one thing to offer services for men seeking men; it’s another issue entirely to be the one ...more
This is for the three book series - Galactic Alliance. Each book is standalone, but each also refers to characters and incidents in the previous books. So you should read in order. Each is essentially a love-at-first-sight scenario and the journey to make it happen. There is hot sex (hot alien sex in the second book *yea*), good action, and some plot twists. I hope there are more installments to come.
