This book is about a stick owned by a boy called Stanley. But it is more than a stick because Stanley can make it into whatever he wants it to be through the power of imagination.

The text is full of colour. It starts with a sentence which is full of alliteration. Later the text breaks into all sorts of rhyme with the conventional rhyming couplet to the use of rhyming words littered within the same sentence. Of course you might have expected this anyway given the author is a renowned poet.

We read this to Seb and we all enjoyed it; for us part of the appeal was that it is written by someone we admired when he was on TV!

Fantastick book about imagination and the brilliant inventiveness of children.

The illustrations throughout the book are brilliant, especially the pictures highlighting the imaginative uses for Stanley's Stick.

Oh kids and their imagination. It's serviceable but not inspiring.

Not for me. Didn't mind the story but not really impressed. Wasn't too keen on the drawings either. Not a terrible book just not something I would pick out for a child.

Such an unusual children's book, full of loss, hope, imagination, selflessness, friendship and more. It's a story about a boy who has a stick. I kid you not!

We love this book, it echoes exactly what a boy & his stick relationship is all about.
