While visiting the Met, I saw this book heavily reduced so I decided to pick it up as a souvenir. Not quite a coffee table book and not quite a regular book, Money: A History has plenty of pictures and words. The sections are split up by continent and history and while some sections were quite interesting, others were just okay. This book changed my world view on how to deal with money. It's wasn't just a matter of explaining how money first appeared, evolved or how it became what it is nowadays, this book explains the underling dynamics of the biggest human invention since the wheel. Great book.
