I think this was the best of the short novellas. It tied up rather tidily and kind of abruptly, but it is a shortened version of the series. I like that, while Maddie and her friend investigated the murder, she passed on her epiphany of what happened to her husband, the police detective, so that it ended a bit more realistically.

Also the celebratory guest appearance was hilarious.

I also noticed that I seem to be slowing down on my reading of this series, I started out just zipping through them a
This book is delightful. I love Maddie and her friend, Dana. Maddie is married to a detective, Ramirez, who has been working a lot of overtime. Maddie is feeling neglected and just when she thinks everything is set for them to celebrate their wedding anniversary, Ramirez gets "the call". Yet another homicide and he has no choice but to work it until it's solved. Maddie is determined nothing is going to stop their celebration so she decides she will help solve the murder.
Maddie’s husband is a homicide detective. She hardly ever sees him because of his work. When he misses yet another date, she decides to take matters into her own hands and solve his case.

I didn’t know this was a short story when I downloaded it, I don’t typically read them. And because of the length, there’s really not much to say in a review. It’s a fun, short read. The husband seemed kind of like a jerk and Maddie solved the mystery a little too easily for my tastes. It was pretty humorous, th

I haven't read the previous books. This one was nice but I am not sure about Ramirez. I cannot put myself in his shoes or even try to understand him. He should have tried to make more time for him and Maddie.

"A Funny Short Story"

This is the second story I've read by Author Gemma Halliday. She is definitely talented and whimsical in her writings. In this story, fashion shoe designer, Maddie Springer, is married to LAPD Detective Jack Ramirez. He has a tough job which is very demanding and leaves little time to spend with his wife of nearly one year. Maddie is not very happy when he stands her up at Giseppi's Restaurant. Again, another dead body gets all his attention. It was an important dinner she
Love is in the air, But Maddie doesnt get to feel the love when she and her friend Dana visit a sex shop and find the owner dead. Determined to have her romantic Valentines Anniversary, Maddie decides to solve the case herself.

With only 4 short chapers in this story, Maddie interviews The shop co-owner, The boyfriend, and the roomate of the deceased. Turned out Peach (the dead owner) was a sweet person, and no-one had any reasons to see her dead.

After knocking over famous Betty White a red car
'Sweetheart in High Heels' is another great story by Gemma Halliday. The storyline is cute. This short story is a cute and funny adventure for Maddie to once again amuse me. I love her character. Her antics seem to work in her favor, most of the time. I enjoy reading this series. A great add to your tbr list.
I have read Gemma Halliday's other High Heels Mystery books up to this one, and although this was a short one, I loved it as much as I've loved the rest.

I love Maddie and Ramirez's relationship. I know it's frustrating for her to always come in 2nd to his job, but that's part of what makes the books work. He's dedicated to his job - has been since before they met, and she loves him in spite of it, just as he loves her in spite of her always getting involved to help solve the mysteries.

This was the second novella I read from this series, after the first one I wasn't ready to commit to a full length novel. I really wanted to like these characters more than I did, the idea of Maddie the clever shoe designer and Ramirez the cop appealed to me. I love The Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich and was hoping for more of that chemistry. I know some liked the guest appearance in the book, but I thought it was a bit silly. I did like how all the pieces of the mystery fell into plac ...more

another book in the series, again this is a laugh aloud book and you just want to read more about the sub plot of Maddie and Ramirez as well as the murder that has occured.
Cute short story. It's not a full book, and it fits in between the 5th book (Mayhem in High Heels) and the new 6th book (Fearless in High Heels). It's life after Maddie is married. It's a very short cozy mystery murder story. You will probably get through this book in about 30 minutes to 1 hour.

While there isn't much "substance" to this short story it is a cute read, especially if you've been following Maddie since book one. It's cheap to buy on the Kindle- so I would say it's worth it.

If you
This was a good short story about Maddie trying to give her husband a Valentine's present that would mean a lot to him.
"To say I was a regular at the gym would be a bigger exaggeration than calling Snookie a celebrity". I thing this says it all :)

It was an ok book.

Very easy to read.

I love all the characters

Another wacky, fun, witty & light Maddie & Detective Jack Ramirez's short story. Maddie really wanted Jack to spend Valentine's day & first wedding anniversary with her without any distraction so she decided to help him to solve the sex shop murder. Loved the Betty White tumble at the read carpet. Cute! I just wondered what happened to Maddie during the red carpet event since she had no shoes which she lent to Betty White.

Hope to read the other books in the series. I've enjoyed the o
Another Rosie purchase that sounds like a fun short read.

First, let me say I usually prefer reading full-length novels over short stories. However, if you're a short-story reader of mystery, this is satisfying. It's sassy, up-to-the-minute, and into fashion, especially shoes. I'd loved to have seen the plot developed into a full-length mystery, with clues coming after hard detecting (instead of dropping like flies), and maybe a check with Dr. Lyle for medical accuracy. But, a fun read.

This was the funniest murder mystery. Ms. Halliday has earned herself a new fan. I've even picked up a few of her other Holiday High Hells Mysteries. I adored the surprise cause of death. That was amazingly funny, sad, and realistic all at the same time. And that poor owner of the shop! I will most definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys murder and a good laugh

Maddie wants to spend her first anniversary with her husband, but in order to do that, she'll need to help him solve a murder, so he'll have time off.

This narrative is cute, funny, interspersed with humor, all while wrapped around an underlying mystery.

Characters are authentic, caring, and in some cases comical.

Overall, a cute read.
The cover of Gemma Hallidays books don't do the books justice. They look like some romantic, cheap, pornographic covers when inside they are great mystery books. This one was one of her shorter books but still an over all book just wish there was more suspense in this book like the others.
This is a short read book, but it's cute and it's very Maddie.
2014-07-13. I enjoyed this more than some of the others. Maddie and Dana do of course investigate a murder but for once she doesn't get herself in a lot of trouble and let's Ramirez actually handle it (after she gives him the ultimate clue of course). Fun short story.

Cute short story that felt authentic to the series.

I always read these when I was a good short story as they r funny & so easy to read...

I think I may have read to many now tho as I'm finding it a bit samey.

Still enjoyed the read though...
A quick and easy murder mystery involving a wife determine to spend Valentine's Day with her husband, a cop investigating a murder at a sex shop, that she decides to solve the case herself.
Funny series. Romance, mystery, odd characters, funny situations.... no reason not to read unless you only like serious books. This is NOT a serious book!

Best wishes for good reads!
The fact that she knocked over Betty White was the best part of the book..... well that and how Jack found her @$$ up at the end of the book because she fell off the bed. bah!

Gemma had a hard time figuring out what she wanted to be when she grew up. She worked as a film and television actress, a teddy bear importer, a department store administrator, a preschool teacher, a temporary tattoo artist, and a 900 number psychic, before finally selling her first book, Spying in High Heels, in 2005 and deciding to be a writer.

Since then, Gemma has written several mystery novels
