Love is in the air, But Maddie doesnt get to feel the love when she and her friend Dana visit a sex shop and find the owner dead. Determined to have her romantic Valentines Anniversary, Maddie decides to solve the case herself.

With only 4 short chapers in this story, Maddie interviews The shop co-owner, The boyfriend, and the roomate of the deceased. Turned out Peach (the dead owner) was a sweet person, and no-one had any reasons to see her dead.

After knocking over famous Betty White a red car...more

I have read Gemma Halliday's other High Heels Mystery books up to this one, and although this was a short one, I loved it as much as I've loved the rest.

I love Maddie and Ramirez's relationship. I know it's frustrating for her to always come in 2nd to his job, but that's part of what makes the books work. He's dedicated to his job - has been since before they met, and she loves him in spite of it, just as he loves her in spite of her always getting involved to help solve the mysteries.

This was the funniest murder mystery. Ms. Halliday has earned herself a new fan. I've even picked up a few of her other Holiday High Hells Mysteries. I adored the surprise cause of death. That was amazingly funny, sad, and realistic all at the same time. And that poor owner of the shop! I will most definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys murder and a good laugh

The cover of Gemma Hallidays books don't do the books justice. They look like some romantic, cheap, pornographic covers when inside they are great mystery books. This one was one of her shorter books but still an over all book just wish there was more suspense in this book like the others.

Funny series. Romance, mystery, odd characters, funny situations.... no reason not to read unless you only like serious books. This is NOT a serious book!

Best wishes for good reads!

Really really enjoyed it! Despite the dark side of murder, this book had a clear cheerfulness and lightheartedness about it. Great stuff. Have no problem recommending it.

Cute short story. It's not a full book, and it fits in between the 5th book (Mayhem in High Heels) and the new 6th book (Fearless in High Heels). It's life after Maddie is married. It's a very short cozy mystery murder story. You will probably get through this book in about 30 minutes to 1 hour.

While there isn't much "substance" to this short story it is a cute read, especially if you've been following Maddie since book one. It's cheap to buy on the Kindle- so I would say it's worth it.

This was a really fun, short story mystery. The author has a witty voice and this was an easy breezy page turner. I'd definitely read more of Gemma Halliday's work!

I think this was the best of the short novellas. It tied up rather tidily and kind of abruptly, but it is a shortened version of the series. I like that, while Maddie and her friend investigated the murder, she passed on her epiphany of what happened to her husband, the police detective, so that it ended a bit more realistically.

Also the celebratory guest appearance was hilarious.

I also noticed that I seem to be slowing down on my reading of this series, I started out just zipping through them a...more

Just a short story rather than a book. As its just a short story it's a bit more direct than the books. Worth a read.

The cover makes it look cheap

Admittedly couldn't finish it. I just couldn't get past the fact that its Maudie's anniversary and thers no mention of the baby...confusing...
Aimee
ironically, this was probably one of her better books, the best part was that it is a short story, not a lot of petty drama.
Nicole
This was a cute short story in the series, just enough to remember all of the calamities Maddie encounters along the way. A great way to spend the rest of my lunch hour lol
Melissa
This series of books is corney but catches your attention. For some reason you don't want to put them down.

Pretty unique solution-- I've only read this and one other story by this author but I will be reading more!
Kjen
This was short anthology. It was ok for what it was, but wanted more interaction with Maddie and Jack.
Cathy
More of the High Heels mysteries. Cute story but not quite up to par with the others.
Kristine

Such a cute short story but I wish it was longer. ^_^
Sheella
I wanted to kill Ramirez. It was waste of my time.
Janet
short quick read--not as good as her full length books

Really short, which I knew, but good since I have "known" the characters from all the other books.

First, let me say I usually prefer reading full-length novels over short stories. However, if you're a short-story reader of mystery, this is satisfying. It's sassy, up-to-the-minute, and into fashion, especially shoes. I'd loved to have seen the plot developed into a full-length mystery, with clues coming after hard detecting (instead of dropping like flies), and maybe a check with Dr. Lyle for medical accuracy. But, a fun read.

Gemma had a hard time figuring out what she wanted to be when she grew up. She worked as a film and television actress, a teddy bear importer, a department store administrator, a preschool teacher, a temporary tattoo artist, and a 900 number psychic, before finally selling her first book, Spying in High Heels, in 2005 and deciding to be a writer.

Since then, Gemma has written several mystery novels...more
