What a peculiar little book. It felt like a macabre, malfunctioning, old-fashioned peep show, merely allowing you unsettling little glimpses of hospital life and what it does to patients and staff alike. Which is highly appropriate, as this is exactly what working on an acute ward can feel like: you get only a snapshot of a patient's life and personality at a particularly vulnerable moment; it may be representative of them as a person, it may not.
