While I appreciated the focus on diversity, this book often felt long and drawn out. It tried to include as much background and semi-relevant information as possible and as a result felt more like an information dump than instruction for working with parents. It also presented a very idealized picture of what parent involvement should look like and only occasionally acknowledged that this image is not necessarily feasible for busy, working parents--the very kind it most stresses to reach out to. ...more
