Recommends it for: sex activists, queer activists, anyone who wants their minds opened
Strategic Sex is awesome. There are only 20 essays in this book, but they are concise, well-chosen, and broadly ranging in topic. The subtitle of the book suggests that it's about public sex, but I would say it's more political than that. Most of the writers are sex activists (including Lawrence Schmiel, Carol Queen, and Annie Sprinkle), and their pieces intentionally make the private public in a way that goes far beyond titillation and into outreach.
