This book is reasonably comprehensive and readable for anyone who has some sort of gastrointestinal health problem. That must be a lot of people, as Dr Peikin points out in his introduction, 'next to the common cold, digestive ailments account for more absences from work and more visits to the doctor than any other condition'.
