Injustice For All (J.P. Beaumont #2)

It was a scene right out of a Hollywood "slasher" movie—a beautiful woman's terrified screams piercing the air, a dead body sprawled at her feet, blood staining the pristine sands of a Washington beach. But the blood is real, and the victim won't be rising when a director yells, "Cut!" In one horrific instant, a homicide detective's well-earned holiday has become a waking...more

I am actually reading this in the 3-in-one trilogy: "Sentenced To Die" which contains the 1st 3 in the series.
Continuing from book 1, Beau is on leave but crime is not...he hears a woman scream and sees her struggling to pull a body out of the water. Too late he is dead. Beau takes the woman back to his cabin to dry off because his is closer...ahem...next love interest, shorter than the last and at least he didn't marry her. Although on leave, he is still a detective and 2 deaths within days of...more

My wife introduced me to Jance's J.P. Beaumont series some time ago when I was ill and wanted escapist entertainment. The lead and first person narrator is fictional Seattle / Washington homicide detective J.P. 'Beau' Beaumont, a middle-aged hard drinking detective who happens to be independently wealthy.
In this novel Beaumont, on medical/psychological leave after being shot by a vigilante serial killer, he had fallen in love with, comes to the aid of a woman in distress and finds himself enmes...more

So here is the deal with J.P. Beaumont and the ladies:
1. He is going to get with the hottest woman who happens to be much younger than him.
2. How can I put this, he is going to make them cry because of his superior sexuality.
3. They are going to die.
Maybe that is just in the first 2 books, if it is an ongoing theme, then I am about done with Beau. This book reminded me a lot of the previous book. Somebody dies, Beau hooks up with the hottie, then she dies, then somebody else dies and he solves i...more

This was my first J.P. Beaumont book and I found Beau to be a well written interesting detective. I liked his thought process to the whole solving of the mystery. He also likes to do things his way and is determined, and dedicated. This was #2 in the Beaumont series but I found it easy to follow and get into. There is some background that I am missing but not enough to make me go back to #1 in the series.

Read Injustice for All with Sentenced To Death which also included Until Proven Guilty. I do not see the trilogy book listed for J.A. Jance.
I liked Jance's Ali Reynolds series so much, I began reading the Beaumont and Brady series starting in August 2009. My book list shows that I read 22 of Jance's novels. Since so much time has passed, I can not say how well I liked each individual novel. I do remember liking the Ali Reynolds' series the best, but Jance's writing keeps me turning pages; an ex...more

On a lark, I picked this up from the $1 rack at Half-Price Books. I liked it. It's not necessarily one of my all-time favorite books. But it is a solid, enjoyable read in the mystery genre. The protagonist, J.P. Beaumont, is your typical hard-boiled police detective, softened up a bit for the Seattle P.D.
I discovered after reading the story that this is the second entry in the series. I knew it wasn't the first, based on references to previous events. In this entry, Beau is recovering at the Ros...more

Very good...but while I like Detective J.P. Beaumont, why is it that every woman he has sex with tells him that it's the best sex she ever had and she never knew it could be that good? No matter how beautiful these women are and how many relationships they have had, they always tell him that after they have had sex with him, and then they cry. I'm sure he's a great guy, but it's seriously getting a little ridiculous at this point, and it's only the second book in the series. If this happens in t...more
I wanted to get to know Detective J.P. Beaumont, and thought this was book #1, apparently it is book #2, but it still gives you a good look at him if you want to read future books, which I do. I like her writing and so does my husband. Rarely do we find an crime writer that will appeal to both of us... and we are looking forward to the rest of the series. This is the one that uses the state of WA as it's base, where as the Sheriff Brady series is in Arizona. We like both series and that she has...more
This is the second in the series of J. P. Beaumont novels. "Beau" is on holiday recovering from the trauma suffered in the first book when he hears a woman scream and runs out to find a murder victim. His partner, Peters, is being helped to recover his children from a sect by Beau's lawyer. J. A. Jance has a great way with characters and stories. This is another page turner to enjoy.
I have now listened to the first 5 books of the series. While its not the best book I have ever read I enjoy this series and enjoy listening while driving around town, and working around the house. I think part of my enjoyment is the reader. I have began listening to another series with a different reader and don't find myself enjoying it as much. The series gets better as it continues.
Very classic cop story, complete with sexy dames walking in (and falling out) of his life.
A fairly solid read, though a little dated. They've made it to 'computer print outs' and 'modems' but crime is conquered without the use of cellphones or google.
I'll probably find my way to third book in the future, but it's not a series to devour in one big run.

The second book in a terrific series I only discovered recently. I really like J.P. Beaumont (and not only because we share a surname), the characters (as with all of Jance's mysteries) are interesting and well portrayed, and the story is fast-paced and twisty. I've lost no time in getting hold of the next five books in the series.
Listened on a long drive. I really enjoy this police detective, although Beau stopping to rehash the story a couple times each book seems like just filler. The mystery itself was average, and it's a darn good thing that real life policemen seldom see as much physical altercations as their imaginary brethren.
Protagonist and narrative voice are sexist, sizeist, retrograde, macho, annoying, and don't treat women or poor people as full human beings. Also at least two climactic violent moments where the police protagonist races to create violent confrontations that seem totally unnecessary given the situation.
While I really enjoyed this book as I do all of J. A. Jance's J.P. Beaumont and Joanna Brady series, I do wish that all the books had their number in the series in the title. I find myself reading them out of order. Even though each book is complete in its storyline, timeline wise it would be better to read the series in order.
Once again I found myself sitting down to read a little and two hours later I am still at it. Is this a fantastic story or is the writing superb? Probably not but it was entertaining, funny and down right suspenseful.
I will agree with others who have said that JP is a bit full of himself and it strains the credibility of the character to have two glorious romances in the first two installments. But of course they can't end happily or he won't solve the crimes.
I plan on reading the 3rd one to see...more
