Since reading Threads when it was initially published back in 2009 I've been a huge fan of Sophia Bennett's books. Now we have the third and final instalment of the Threads trilogy, Sequins, Stars & Spotlights. I really wish there was going to be more of these books because I think they're absolutely fantastic. They're full to the brim with fun, colour and the most incredible clothes.

In the third and (sob!) final installment in the Threads Trilogy, our four girls are growing up, and their futures are within reach. Except there are still many questions, and the answers can be found in New York - fashion central! But it's not all as fabulous as it sounds, and Nonie will do whatever it takes to keep her friends heads above water.

I've read all of these books but it was only during this one when I realized how much I loved them. They're fun and girly (and sometimes you have to suspend disbelief, well for most of it) but they are not afraid to get serious and and tell you about a little known problem and how you can help.
Sometimes I wonder if I should read 'proper' books instead of stories about fashion obsessed teenagers but that would be weird. But for a fashion obsessed teenager, the main character Nonnie is a perfect l...more

Sequins, Stars and Spotlights is the third and final book in the Threads trilogy. Nonie, Jenny and Edie are all nearing the end of their school careers and thinking about what they're going to do next. College or university? Broadway? (That last one being what Jenny has to decide). And Crow is doing GCSEs and thinking about if she really wants to do her own fashion label... Why does everything suddenly seem so overwhelm...more

I’ve wanted to be a writer since early childhood. Either that or an air hostess (great uniform), Olympic gymnast (also great uniform) or a playwright. I would have liked to be a top fashion designer, but my stick figures, despite years of practice, were never going to make the cover of Vogue.
I wanted to be a writer so much that I didn’t dare actually do any serious writing for many years. Instead,...more
