What an awful book! I wanted to throw it into the wall so many times, that I lost count. But since I read it in my E-reader (which I worship) I couldn’t do this. Finally I was so frustrated that I just deleted it with satisfying vengeance.
If you wonder what made me so worked up, the answer is the treatment of main male character to main heroine.

When Talen Kayr shows up at Cara Paulsen's house in the early hours of morning claiming he is there to protect her and her daughter, she knows there is something off by the intense but sensual man. As he rushes them to safety, she is sure she was rightabout him, when he announces they will be married and mated by the end of the night in order to ensure her protection, not to mention the fact that he is a three hundred year old vampire just as frosting on the cake.

It's making me so... frustrated. Angry. I usually LOVE alpha men; authors such as Gena Showalter, Nalini Singh and Cynthia Eden manage to make them so appealing; sexy, possessive and protective. I fall in love; I'm both envious and ecstatic for the heroine, especially if they prove to be a good match for the hero. She gives as good as she gets, and the hero learns to respect that if he hasn't already, and it strengthens their relationship in a really good, heart-melting kind of way.

This was a mix of great story telling and great characters. Book was full of action, love and most important passion. Can't want to read the next one.
If you like rape, this book is for you.
Because that's what our wonderful, strong "hero" regularly does to our pathetic "heroine". This book was awful and offensive. I don't want to be mean but if you liked this book, I feel bad for you. I'm sorry to be such a jerk but this book really made me extremely angry and I just don't understand how ANYONE could like this book.
I marked this one as "Read" but I have to be honest: I didn't finish it. It gave it one star and one star says "I didn't like it"...more

Not a lot of good things to say about FATED. Just the fact it took me three and a half days to finish this crappy book puts me in a bad mood.
I’m going to make this short and sweet and then I’m never going to waste another second of my life on this book.
Most of the reviews about this book are accurate. Surprisingly most of the stuff about Janie calling Talen ‘daddy’ and him ‘forcing’ Cara didn’t bother me as much as it did other reviewers, but it’s still there. I took the Janie situation as she...more

This book had just about the right amount of action, sex and anticipation. I kept thinking to myself "OMG What's next?" I wanted to finish the book but at the same time I didn't want it to finish. I know, I know I'm kinda weird. But I know a few other readers can relate when they read this book. If only I can be Cara for one night, I'll do it in a heartbeat. Just so I can feel that body that Rebecca described so vividly. Yumm-O!!

I enjoyed this one, I think I'll enjoy the rest of the series more though. I'm really curious about Dage and Emma - their book is the one I'm most looking forward too.
Zane has me curious, him and Janie and what exactly is going on there.
I liked Talen to a point, I'm glad he finally learned Cara's name. It got a little tedious after a couple of hundred pages of him calling her "Mate". I do remember the early days when you got goosebumps every time you could say Hubby or Husband, it just went on...more

Talen is a sexy alpha male who will do anything to protect his mate Cara and her daughter Janie....Even kill. Janie is just as cute as a button. I love how she has all the heroes wrapped around her little finger. I have been looking for awhile for a good series that is well written and def a keeper since I fell in love with the Breeds series from Lora Leigh and Black Dagger Brotherhood series from JR Ward. Yeah!! I finally found one. It has just enough action, erotic love scenes and a Alpha Hero...more
This steamy series starts with ‘Fated‘, which is the first of 5 books currently in the series. Each book focuses on an overbearing, chauvinistic yet charming male who accidentally/ deliberately finds an independent, psychic/ supernatural female who they eventually decide will be theirs for eternity, one way or another.
Without giving too much away, ‘Fated’ is the story of Talen Kayrs, one of four vampire brothers who are leaders of the supernatural world. Talen is sent to protect Cara Paulsen and...more

Ok, I liked this book. I gave it 4 stars and will be buying the rest of the series today, but it kept me from falling asleep last night because of all of the WTF moments.
1. Too many orgasms...not something that I normally complain about in a book, but seriously back off a little
2. Half way through the book there was a "big misunderstanding" that causes the heroine to do something stupid and later it was explained away in a paragraph. It wasn't even necessary because the heroine was doing a ton o...more

It's been a while since I read a paranormal romance and I'm glad that this book was my reintroduction into the genre. It was sexy, fun and a quick read with minimal angst and plenty of action.
The beginning took me by surprise at first because within 10% of the book, the hot vampire Talen hadkidnapped rescued Cara and her daughter from a group of evil vamps called the Kurjans, ordered her to marry him and then ran away to a cabin to mate i.e. seal the deal where he proceeded to brand her. Fated--another new twist in the Vampire world. I would define it as alpha male (extreme), heavy on the sex (big plus), and entertaining. I really liked this new take on vampires and mythology. It's a dark tale, where genetics are used to explain the differences in the races. Talen is a dangerously hot hero, one of those Alpha males you want to kick and get naked with all at once. Zanetti has created some intriguing characters and history. The Kayrs family sucked me right in--lots of big, bad vam...more
Oh my... I really hate putting down a negative review, as I can't imagine how much time and dedication it takes to write a novel.
I'm determined to finish reading this because I purchased it online; but along with a few other readers on here, I'm having a problem with the over-dominant lead male and the squishy squashy submissive lead female. Finally, a take on vampires that makes sense. Vampires who have lived for centuries who didn't just bite everyone and scare the general population. These vampires have used their time wisely and developed technology that far outweighs anything the mortal world has done.

I certainly enjoyed the plot of this book and all the potential that is there for future books. It wasn't so much Cara and Talen that held my attention in this book. It was the other character's and their potential mates, as well as the battles and the science.
I'm a fan of paranormal characters, but I am even more interested when they take a sci-fi turn. I felt these characters did with their dna, distinct weapons, and special abilities.

I really liked this new take on vampires and mythology. It's a dark tale, where genetics are used to explain the differences in the races. Talen is a dangerously hot hero, one of those Alpha males you want to kick and get naked with all at once. Though when he shows his sweet side, I just melted. There isn't anything he wouldn't do for the heroine or her child. I just loved Cara's practical, `are you kidding me' approach to life. She's logical, and the idea of fate and vampires pretty much ticks...more

People who can't get enough of the Carpathian novels
This book is very similar to the Carpathian books! We have (first and foremost) - an alpha male, a very pushy alpha male who won't take his time and won't give the female of his desires his time. Just like the Carpathian books and their soulmates, he believes they are fated to be together due to the appearance of a tattoo on his hand when he first touches Cara. The vampires are born male and must find their mate from the human population, and the mate must be psychic (also like the Carpathians w...more

Cara Paulsen and her daughter Janie are in deep trouble. When a man comes in the middle of night to whisk them out of their home and says he is there to protect them, they flee in a car chase and a hail of gun fire.
Talen is protecting the future from vampires that want to kill Cara. Along the way, he discovers that she is his mate. Now that he has a family on the line, he must do whatever he can to protect them. Will he be strong enough and quick enough to stay a step ahead of the gang of vampi...more

I did like how the guys were kind of hardcore (like sitting through dinner with a mortal wound, just because). I have a whole shelf dedicated to Alpha males! But for some reason, I just didn't really click with Talen (pretty Alpha name, isn't it!!?) I didn't like the use of mate at every sentence. Seriously, every single one. I don't know, it did not really come off as an endearment for me. Maybe for others, but I kept reading it as "pal" or "buddy", which is totally not cool. Not like lover, ho...more

Fated is the first book of a three part series. I will admit that I had a hard time reading this book. Usually I love the main male character being in Alpha mode. With this book though, the Alpha male seemed more of pushy and forceful male that was not as attractive as I wanted him to be.
Yes, the book was steamy in in the sex factor, and yes it had the paranormal vampire story that is hot right now, but the way the two are thrust together was not impressive to me. Cara has a daughter to think ab...more

Awesome story! I loved how the vampires are portrayed here. Older and powerful but with more tech than you can shake a stick at.
There's a lot of action in the story. It had me on the edge of seat right from the beginning. The sex was incredibly hot, which is a definite plus.
I found myself shaking my head at Cara, though. For a scientist, she certainly doesn't think very logically. I can certainly understand trying to escape when she didn't have any info. But she watched the man kill something li...more

Good book. Look forward to reading the next book in the series. At first the domineering you will Marry Me NOW attitude kind of ticked me off as it did Cara, but then you get to know Talen and why. And then you see him with Janie and you melt....how could any woman resist! Loved the new paranormal take. It is nice for a change not to read the same story plot time and again. Really liked the shifters thrown in as well. They added an extra thilling element.

This story was good. I have to say, throughout the majority of the book, I kept seeing links to Lora Leigh storylines and characters. Maybe the vampires and genetics and shifters and whatnot have been done so much that they're all starting to lump together, but there was so much that was eerily similar to the Breed books that it took my focus from the story a lot. And I do get that the Breeds weren't vampires or shifters, but the first half of the book I felt like I was reading Elizabeth's Wolf...more
*Fated is For Mature Reader's Only* I loved "Fated"... It had my attention from the first chapter where we were introduced to Cara (single mom, scientist, empath), Janie (4 years-old, Cara's daughter, cute as hell, psychic), and Talen (vampire). The story was not just a paranormal romance- the main conflict between "the good and bad guys" is nail biting good. Also refreshing about this paranormal romance was the romance between Cara and Talen. While in most stories: boy and girl meet, boy and gi...more

3.5 Stars. Tossed on this one. I think the story was pretty good, despite some issues I had with the editing and the choppy and fairly superficial writing style. The premise has promise. I cannot understand why several reviews spoke of rapes. Either my copy was faulty or some people really need to stick to YA or maybe teen books. Cara was a willing participant every time. And even at that, this wasn't close to what those reviews painted it as. Talen was super-alpha, centuries old warrior vampire...more
