Set in Manchester, United Kingdom, ‘MY BIG FAT GAY LIFE’ is an utterly trashy novel. The story started out life as a web serial, but it quickly grew beyond its original parameters... just lke a muscle Mary on steroids.

The tale is is a day-by-day, blow-by-blow tale of a quirky group of friends. The central character is Sebastian Parker, a psychiatrist struggling to find his

DARK GAY DRAMA

Boy, why did I start this book? It is well written, but the plot is so heartbreaking I can't tell how much it hurt me.

I enjoyed the format of this book with multiple points of view. I really felt like I got to know the characters, but also how they all really feel about each other. There is a weird juxtaposition between the seriousness of the issues that the characters face and the silliness (and sometimes... obscene) manner in which the characters discuss them. Heavy drama is easily resolved, only for another impossibly difficult situation to arise. And yet, I was always happy reading this book. I found myself ...more

I liked the different viewpoints for each day. I think the only person we didn't hear from was Arthur, not inside his head. Given some of the evil or at lest mentally disturbed people in this book I imagine it was painful to write those POVs. It would have been for me.

Tony and Justin were me favorite characters for different reasons. Justin knew himself, was comfortable with his gay friend, and seemed to laugh at the who saw only his body. Tony came such a long way from one-word, resentful "Fran

I had a little difficulty with all the different first person narratives initially, but once I got into it I couldn't put it down

Found this book when I was UK version of Amazon.com looking for something "different". Loved, loved , loved this book. The author covers about every issue a modern gay man could face.

“Pregnancy seems designed to prepare you for life as a mother. You start making sacrifices nine months before the child is born, so by the time they put in an appearance you are used to giving things up for them.” 16 likes
“Dinner was a disaster. Brent introduced himself while staring at my bulge, and I was glad to be shown to our table so that we were seated with a table between us, forcing him to look me in the eye. Apparently, my eyes have moved down to my pecs, though, as that's where he decided to fix his attention throughout dinner.” 2 likes
