Hawks are a long-time nemesis of mine when it comes to bird identification. In fact, I have several nemeses - hawks, shore birds, sparrows, to name the three worst of the lot.

Hawks present a particular problem because one seldom sees them close-up in the field. They always seem to be at a distance and very often on the wing, so the birder is only able to see their belly. For the beginning Hawk watcher and lover, this book is a bit overwhelming. I've found that complimenting this book with experts in the field really helps. Excellent tool to carry with you on Hawk watching journeys.

A raptor followers delight. Now a birder might be able to distinguish between those high flying hawks.

Not all that helpful or informative. This book could benefit from tables comparing and contrasting plumage, behavior, flight shapes, etc
