Mini review: This is the kind of book I would have loved reading as a young teen ~ older YA characters (love interest Parker is 19), a predictable swoon-y romance and a sweet (predictable) plot. It didn't have a lot of tension (except towards the end) but there was a fab setting and a cute guy to keep things moving along.

In terms of style and execution, it got a similar vibe to Lovestruck Summer (although plot is obviously very different).

I appreciate commercial books like this for teens as they are fun addict...more

I bought this book after reading Carribean Cruising and because I liked the premise of the novel. If you are looking for a quick, fun read, this is it!

The story is about a teenage girl, Megan, who goes to work at a theme park all summer. Her boyfriend doesn't want her to go but she goes anyway. She meets many new friends including a boy named Parker. His character is probably what held my interest the most. I liked Megan's character development and how she grows as a person during the summer. I...more

I liked this book. It's not particularly spectacular, but I enjoyed it. All the characters are likeable, the plot is pleasant, and the delivery is excellent. I guess I just wanted more.

I thought it might take me a while to get into this book because it looks kind of teeny bopper. Don't let the cover fool you. The heroine, Megan, is 17 years old. Fortunately, I could relate to her right away. Megan is a surprisingly great gal. I liked her little observations and the fact that she doesn't...more

Did you feel that the book fulfilled your expectations? Were you disappointed?

The book “Thrill Ride” by Rachel Hawthorne was a very interesting book. I especially enjoyed the part when the main character Megan being carried back to her dorm by a male co-worker that she likes because she hurt her foot. Then Megan’s sister finds her in the other guy’s arms even thought she has a boyfriend. Maybe it fulfilled my expectation a little to much, it was a little obvious how the bo...more

I love Rachel Hawthorne's books. I can always count on picking up one of her books and getting exactly what I want from them, a quick fast, sweet read that will give you that "awww" moment that you are looking for.
You know the reads.
The fluff reads you need on a bad day that will put a smile on your face and melt your heart just a little bit.
I love stories like that. I know some don't so I would imagine these books wouldn't be for everyone but I love to read something light and fluffy every now,...more
I cant tell you how much I enjoyed this book! I gobbled it up in one sitting and was hoping for more! A totally cute romantic story for any young reader and I recommend it even if your not a young adult! It was just so upbeat and fun but there were times that I really wanted to smack Megan just because I felt she was a little tooooo goody goody if you know what I mean? She would kind of prejudge folks like for example before she ever met her roomate she already had decided she was a slob and may...more
I really liked this book, but it was different than I thought it would be. Good different though :)

So Thrill Ride is a book about a girl named Megan who goes to work at a theme park called "Thrill Ride!"(no, really?) over the summer, leaving her boyfriend, Nick, sister, Sarah, and Mom (who always fight), and her dad at home. The funny thing is, Megan doesn't even like roller coasters. She only wants to get away from her mom and Sarah, who are planning a wedding for Sarah and can't seem to agree...more
A cute, romance. I felt that it was easy to read and slightly predictable. I still loved the details and some of the hidden messages in the book. Taking chances, and letting your decisions come spntaniously is a key thing in life. You cannot life your like by pros and cons. Sometimes you just have to jump right in.

This story is easy to read, and I really enjoyed it.

Megan is a girl that need move away of her house (her sister is marrying and she and her mom are freaking out about it), and she find a work in a theme park far away of home.

She have a new boyfriend, and he is very worried about the idea she don't stay in the city. And he have a lot for worried about...

In this new place, Megan know new people, one of them, Parker, a perfect guy that who seems likes her.

With a lot of funnies dialogues, the autho...more

THRILL RIDE by Rachel Hawthorne is a great book about summer fun and romance.

Megan takes a summer job at an amusement park called Thrill Ride. It is away from home, so she lives at the park with
other teens who are part of this summer program.

This big decision had many factors, yet one downfall. Megan wanted to escape her mother and sister who are constantly
arguing about her sister's upcoming wedding. The only downfall about being so far away is that Megan won't be close to

So I read this book a LONG time ago. Back when I was in the 8th grade (I'm almost a senior in college right now). It was the first book that I had ever bought from the store with the intentions of reading just for the heck of it! I can honestly say that this is THE book that started my OBSESSION with YA Romances. I have read many books since this one, many good, many bad, but I always will remember Thrill Ride because of how it introduced me to the world of reading.

Thrill Ride is about girl nam...more
Even tough Rachel Hawthorne's books are directed to a younger audience, I feel like I still belong to that crowd since I thoroughly enjoy her books. The reason I keep reading them is because they always have a main character that I can relate to. Eventhough the plot is not complex what so ever and very predictable, I truly love the romance and the ability the author has to pick up on the minor details of a teen, wether it is in terms of dialogue, which is very fast pace and appealing, or concer...more

Megan is off to work away from home. While she measures the pros and cons of going away she did not expect to meet a guy Parker that will make her insides turn. One problem though is that Megan and Parker can't be together because Megan has Nick. But a summer away from home will make her realize that sometimes she has to go out of her own way to find herself and her happiness.

THRILLING ROMANTIC EXPERIENCE!! This book made me laugh and feel giddy. It is a really fun book. From the moment Parker...more

My cousin recommended this book to me mostly because of one particular character (coughcoughParker) and all I can say is, she was right. Parker was my favourite character obviously. He was this very gripping character that made me swoon almost all of the time. One specific twist was pretty amusing, although kind of predictable. It was funny nonetheless. Megan is a smart protagonist. She's not an annoying little teenager that spends most of her time acting like a lovesick puppy dog. She actually...more
My sister actually recomend Rachel Hawthorne books to me and this book is my first Rachel Hawthorne book!! Im going to read The boyfriend league tonight.

Parker is soooo beautiful sooo frickin' beautiful that i want to kiss him sooo bad!!! And megan was lucky Parker likes her.. So the story is about a girl who has a summer job at this amusment park to stay out of stuff she doesnt want to get in to and she has a boyfriend back home so they kind of have this long-distant relationship but then Mega...more

I just sped through this book within a few hours... mmm... not totally recommended unless you like these types of book... it's SERIOUSLY predictable but boredom makes you do crazy things. So Megan was really phsyced that she got this amazing oppurtunity to go away for the summer and work at an amusement park. But you cant' have everything. Megan has a lot of pros and cons the pros are she is away from home, works at an amusement park and can meet new people and she has a roomate, the major con is her boyfriend that is back home. She loves her boyfriend so much and can't imagine anything changing that. Until she meets her roomate's brother Parker. Parker is amazing to her in so ma...more
Another cute, light, fun read by Rachel Hawthorne. This book is about Megan who decided to spend her summer working at a theme park with a long-distance relationship looming over her. The housing, roommates, and events made it sound like a fun summer job. The only drawback is that she had a whiny boyfriend back home who couldn't handle her not being there. Her roommate, Jordan and suitemates, Parker and the rest of the characters were all very enjoyable. Megan's boyfriend, Nick on the other hand...more

I suddenly realized why I liked this book so much. Parker (The Boy of the book) has no faults. I know it's a romance novel and all but there weren't any faults at all the were scripted for him. He was gorg, rich but not arragant, sweet, a teensy bit overprotective, but it seemed like that ONE fault with him was kind of forced. Meagan however, whins and crys the whole book. She is worse than Bella! "I love my boyfriend and I am sure he will wait for me through the whole summer even though we have...more
My Say: Megan is not very confident of her decision making skills so she has planner where she notes the pros and cons of the subject of her decisions. After convincing herself for the summer job at Thrill Ride! she moves in the dorm for the employees. Enter hot co worker Parker. Megan feels attracted to him. But what is a gal gotta do when she already has a cute boyfriend back home?

Decisions... Decisions! The book is quite good and definitely worth a read. The characters are believable and the...more
This book was so unrealistic. No way would a guy do all the things Parker did, especially a hot guy. And I can't believe she didn't figure it out that nick and Tess were getting together. I mean, Tess was all he talked about. And I can't believe she didn't see breaking up coming. And I don't know why it took her so long to get over nick. They were totally drifting apart. And long distant relationships never work, so I don't know what she was thinking. I did like the job scenario. It seemed cool...more

I'm not really a fan of Roller Coasters per se but I'm also not one of those people who suffers veloxrotaphobia (the anxiety you feel before riding the roller coaster) but one thing is for sure, I do love Theme Parks!

This is such a very cute story! It makes me feel a little bit younger as to my young age today. haha. I love the characters, the cute plot and most especially it's theme park setting thing. Everything about it makes me smile. It was a fast and very sweet read and it would definitel...more
Oh boy oh boy oh boy...i think I'm hyperventilating, just because of the read! Thrill ride definitely got my adrenaline pumping all right. Parker is sweet and I liked when they first 'talked', it was funny and hot, he surely has a very straight flirting sense. And not to mention, I think I cried towards the end, 'trust me.' I love those words! Nick is being a jerk but Megan totally deserves Parker, he is romantic, considerate, loving, you name it. Plus, he is the total opposite of the 'safe zone...more

I've been meaning to read this book since it came out. I'll be honest—it was the pink roller coaster heart that attracted me. I just can't get enough of those... ;)

This book was a really really really cute little piece of YA fluff. Adorable. Just adorable. Made me want to have a baby boy just so I can name him Parker... :D He was REALLY REALLY sweet to Megan. I approved. Not sure about the whole summer romance thing... ESPECIALLY in high school, but it's fiction, after all... :)
