This picture book is a collection of very short scary stories...scary, that is, if you're a ghost.
A papa ghost is trying to tell his children scary bedtime stories, but in fact non-ghost children will be giggling the whole time, especially during the grand finale, super-scary story at the end. This, of course, is because of the "cultural" differences between living and dead children, and the different things which might frighten them.
This is a set of non-threatening ghost stories suitable for y...more

Daddy Ghost is telling scary stories to his two little ghosties as he tucks them in for bed. At the end of each story they beg for more, giving us three stories in all. The frightful conclusion to each story is sure to tickle the funny bone. In the title story, boastful Cousin Nell is determined to prove that she is the fastest, smartest, scariest, and bravest ghost in the world, so she goes to The Dark Forest to confront the infamous "Haunted Hamburger." What three stories would scare a ghost? How about a story of a ghost who couldn't scare anyone and ended up as a diaper. Or a story of a haunted hamburger? Or perhaps my favorite of all, the story of the Big Bad Granny who likes to hug and tickle and kiss. It is scary stuff! And I enjoyed every word! Can't wait to share this with little kiddos!

Great addition for Halloween collection. Three funny stories about ghosts. Father ghost is trying to tell his small ghosts scary stories but from our viewpoint the stories are hilarious. Kids will love this one.

Recommend.

Pretty funny. A good K-1-2 read-aloud.

The first story was a real crack-up. The second was so-so. The third and fourth actually started to scare J and he ultimately shut the book and asked for a different one.

For those who like their scary stories with a dose of humor. This will also be a nice for those who are looking for something new to read to their children and/or students this Halloween.

Father ghost is trying to tuck his two energetic ghost children into bed. They insist on one scary story after the next. Fun read aloud as long as you use your scary voice. :)
Martha
Cute and funny. I think I could use this for storytime, not for toddlers, though . . . too wordy. This would be fun for nighttime or preschool storytimes.
Cheryl
Ghost bedtime stories that ended with a cautionary tale that the father told to get his children asleep.

Entertaining collection of ghost stories more silly than scary.

These are some great spooky reads for Halloween.
Jeanne
Not really very scary. Ok for little ones.
Rita
The story about the diaper was the best!
Susan
Do we want grandmas to be scary? Or will kids "get it"
Niki
I think my second graders will get a kick out of this picture book at Halloween time. I can see them laughing at the first silly story the most.
Beverly
these stories are terribly scary for the ghost children, but hilariously funny for live children
Potassium
This is a cute set of bed time stories for ghost children (and human children too probably)...
