Fancy Nancy thinks that everything in the sky is simply stellar, from the sun and the moon to the stars and their constellations (that's a fancy word for the shapes that stars make!). So nothing could make her happier than a special sleepover under the stars with her dad and her little sister, JoJo. Together Nancy and JoJo wish on stars, moon bathe, and even eat astronaut...more

Fancy Nancy Stellar Stargazer! by Jane O'Connor and illustrated by Robin Preiss Glasser

From the inside flap:

So nothing could make her happier than a special sleepover under the stars with her dad and little sister JoJo. Together Nancy and JoJo wish on stars, moon bathe, and even eat astronaut ice cream! The Fancy Nancy books are all big hits in my household. This one happens to be the one most recently read so here is where I'm depositing my review of the series in general. The illustrations are dazzling, the main character is utterly charming, and in addition to providing a sweet story each book is also a great vocabulary builder for your little ones. The appeal (particularly visually) is primarily for girls but I wouldn't hesitate to read Fancy Nancy books to a boy as well. Little girls after...more

This is the first time I have let my daughter read one of these books. She is 4 and I didn't know anything about the content. I was pleasantly surprised. Nancy uses big words which she refers to as "Fancy" words, which are very informative. The whole book explains star and moon patterns and the constellations. It's a very creative way to make an informative children's book. I will be buying more for my daughter.

Fancy Nancy never disappoints! Her love for all things fancy, including her larger more challenging vocabulary to share with your little ones is always spot on. In this book Fancy Nancy is having an overnight camp out in her yard with her family. While Nancy and her little sister play in their makeshift space shift, they can't wait to gaze at constellations. I even learned new facts about our solar system! That perfect combination of education and fun.

We've read a ton of Fancy Nancy stories and our girls really like them. They are fun and girly and introduce new vocabulary words in an interesting, if repetitive, way. This book discusses space exploration and constellations and we loved the glow in the dark cover. So fantastique (that's French for fantastic.)

Fancy Nancy does it again! What a fun way to learn about the stars and constellations. I'm donating this book to an elementary school library. I'm sure the second graders will keep this book circulating not only for the information but because it's "Fancy Nancy." They just love her.

So recently, my daughter has become extremely interested in Fancy Nancy. So, we have been reading some of the Fancy Nancy series. This series is lots of fun and all the heart warming moments are a nice touch to the rather flouncy, fancy moments.

Educational and fun! I loved this volume of the Fancy Nancy series. O'Connor incorporates facts about space along with a cute story about Nancy's determination to camp outside to watch the stars. I really enjoyed her made-up constellation story!

Due to limited time and attention span, we only shared Nancy's made-up constellation and her story about it--"The Legend of the Diamond Tiara" (of course!) to give the 5-8 year old group an idea about constellations and their legends.

I love Fancy Nancy and so do my children (Kai has even been known to read some of her books . . .) but I think the current trend toward series in children's books is getting a bit overdone!

We love Fancy Nancy. I adore all the fancy words and how she explains them to make it easy for children to grasp them.

This is about Fancy Nancy's love of stars and constellations.

Favorite part of this Fancy Nancy book were the Stellar Facts throughout. Love that kids will learn facts about stars and space while enjoying one of their favorite characters.

I graciously received this book through a giveaway on first reads.

This book has great illustrations! It is also very informative about the sun, moon, and stars while still being fun for the kids. I will definitely read this book to my niece and am sure she will love it!

This is the best Fancy Nancy I have read yet! Stellar Stargazer is amazing beginning to end. This one does not just go on the children's shelf, but in the special educational science section! I love it when kid's books are more than just cute. :) Highly recommended!!

As someone who doesn't like pink or fancy things, it is amazing how much I like the Fancy Nancy books. A lot of that is because the focus of the books is more on fancy vocabulary, rather than just fancy frills. (Although there are plenty of fancy frills in the pictures!)

In this one, Fancy Nancy teaches her younger sister about the stars, constellations, how the sun is a star, and how the phases of the moon work. Very well done. It didn't feel dumbed down and was accurate, yet simple and understa...more

The book was about Fancy Nancy watching and learning about stars. We liked this book because we love Fancy Nancy, and she is a good fancy girl. SM

Fancy Nancy is pretty cute, but I especially like the astronomy theme of this one! Very fitting with the last US shuttle mission in space right now!

A fun medium for Fancy Nancy fans to get some scientific facts about stars.

Fancy Nancy - a little less fancy, a little more science. I approve.

This is an adorable way to get little girls interested in science.

My daughter loved this book.

I thought this one felt a little forced. It was focused on being "educational" instead of just flowing with Nancy and her Fancy ideas. But Nancy was cute, and the interactions between her and her family were sweet, so it's still a pretty good story.

And, a nice introduction to stars and the moon for Fancy Nancy fans.

As always, I LOVE Fancy Nancy. Alice has slept with this on her bed since she got it as a gift from david's parents, Christmas Eve. The cover glows in the dark! What could be better?

Heather
33 months - this is the most wordy and most educational Fancy Nancy we've read to date. As always this story expands and defines new vocabulary but in this case the book is also packed with small tidbits of facts about the stars. Very well done.

Since the publication of Fancy Nancy, Jane O'Connor's closet now boasts so many boas, tiaras, and sparkly ensembles that sometimes friends do not recognize her on the street. She still resides (that's a fancy word for lives) in New York City with her family and their canine companion, Arrow. --from the publisher's website
