A Voracious Reader (a.k.a. Carol)
Emma Paulsen is a genetic scientist, a seer of the future, and a possessor of the 3 Bs – brains, beauty and bravery. She’s more than a match for Dage Kayrs, King of the Realm, 300+-yr-old vampire and wielder of several known (visions, teleportation, controller of the elements) and unknown powers.

This story picks up where Fated left off. Emma has been kidnapped by the Kurjans and is on her way to be forced to mate with their new leader. Dage has no intention of letting that happen because Emma is...more

Amazing new take on vampires, Ms. Zanetti’s vampires are innovative and exciting!

Emma Paulsen has been on the run for weeks. She is trying to escape the Kurjans and now also the Vampires. During her work as a geneticist she discovers that she isn’t researching a cure for cancer but something more sinister. Grabbing her research and running is her only option. A race of evil beings called Kurjans are hunting her down for more than her research though. While on the run she discovers anoth...more

Geneticist Emma Paulsen has been on the run since she unveiled the Krujan's, an evil group who are trying to infect women with a virus to unmate them as well as change their genetic makeups. When she is rescued by the man she has spent years dreaming about, she is torn by her visions that show not a happily ever after if she remains by his side.

Emma Paulsen is a geneticist and is also psychic, which is something really at war with her practical scientific nature. She’s been kidnapped by Kurjan, which has angered Dage the King of the Realm. She’s caught in a nest of vampires and has been drugged. Her sister, Cara, is somewhere in this hellhole being kept separate from her. Dage manages to rescue Emma. Now Emma can’t get Dage out of her mind. He tells her that Cara had been rescued earlier too. When he drinks blood from Emma, he realizes...more

This was a nice strong sequel to the first book in the series. There were a few things that make it even more enjoyable. For one, all the set up and introductions to the Dark Protector world have pretty much been established so the story could focus more on the plot and characters. And for another thing, I liked the main characters better. I enjoyed how the story took me further with the main story thread and a few of the other other continuing threads even while placing much of the emphasis on...more

Well Im not such a fan for paranormal romances (although I do love the black dagger brotherhood series its just too good) buuuut, Im kind of liking this series, there's something primal in all the males and I just love the marking thing!! if you are into paranormal books this series will definetly be in your taste, it has pretty much every paranormal character.

Now, this one is about Emma ( Cara's sister) and Dage ( Talen's brother and also the king) they have been dreaming about each other for...more

Should be 2.5 stars but the hint a brogue made it 3. Total sucker for the accent. The rest well... it was okay. The relationship was better established between Dage and Emma. You could see where they'd be able to fall for each other, because there was a lot of history to build it. The problem I had was they were only together a limited amount and 90% of the time was in bed, so to speak. The sex was not written well. With the exception of when he was mentally controlling her, (flashes of Chevy Ch...more

I'm actually giving this 2.5 stars. This book was ok. I feel like it didn't bring anything new to the series; which is saying a lot considering it's book 2. A lot of the dialogue and situations between the lead male and female were repeated from book 1. Sometimes even word for word.
The sexy-times in this book (and the last) were far from hot and steamy. I mean he looked at her nipples and she orgasmed for crying out loud! There was also a lot of whimpering during the sex, which I found odd. Tha...more

Second in the series, 3 1/2 stars....

We met Emma Paulson in book one, the sister of Cara, who was kidnapped and mated to Talen, the uber-alpha vampire prince. Cara has an adorable four year old daughter named Janie who is prophesied to be some savior of all the supernatural people in the world that Zanetti created.

Emma is a scientist, who grew up in an abusive home with a father that beat her because she could see the future. She spent her youth stepping in front of his fists to protect her youn...more

Claimed is the sequel to “Fated”, this book literally picks up right where the last one left off. The flow is so great with these books. This series has a strong undercurrent of adventure and mystery which almost overshadows the romance. The medical lingo and background does not take away from the general story, but enhances it. Just like its predecessor this book had no problem with keeping me in the many plots going on. It is very well developed and is detailed enough to make sure you’re in th...more

In a world where war is on the brink of breaking out and both sides claim that you are theirs you must rely on your instinct to guide you and get you to where you are supposed to be.

Emma Paulsen is no stranger to the vampire world. Her sister has just married a vampire, (oops not vampire, Immortal ) and is pregnant with his baby. She also was working for the evil Kurjans ( the scary looking ones who can't go out in the daylight and look so ugly they make her want to puke and are evil beyond mea...more

I thought Fated was bad, but I could not imagine the sequel was actually worse. This kind of stories are awfully reminiscent of pre-feminism, of a time when a woman "wanted" to be raped/forced/compelled and books told that kind of "truth".

Claimed is boring, at 66% I had skipped most of it already. Dage is the usual Neanderthal man, Emma the supposedly strong woman is really a womanly woman and immediately gives. All her strength and combativeness (she survived the bad guys for months) flee out...more

2nd of the Dark Protector Series.

Premise: There are two vampire factions: Kurjans and "the good guys" (for lack of better term). In addition to differences in appearance, Kurjans are also unable to walk in sunlight and are ostracized from the Realm. The Realm is essentially the world of the "others" (vampires, shape-shifters, witches, fae, demons, etc). Dage is king of the Realm, and he (along with his brothers) negotiated the truce between the Realm and Kurjans. That truce has now ended becaus...more

Book two in the Dark Protectors series by Rebecca Zanetti and it follows on pretty much seamlessly from book one, but this time we are concentrating on Emma, Cara's sister, and the king of the Realm, Dage.

Both Dage and Emma are likeable characters. Dage is powerful but controlled, diplomatic but capable of great shows of force, unlike Talen, who was a dominant through and through, Dage was a little more subtle in his control issues.

Emma, a geneticist, held her own, was tough and capable, and of...more

This is a continuing story of "Fated" by Rebecca Zanetti...it literally continues where it left off. If you haven't read Fated you will be a little lost on events that are referred to in this novel. The hot romance between Dage and Emma starts with page ONE. The war between factions of vampires and other paranormal beings has escalated and Emma is trying to find the key scientifically to free her now infected sister from a virus that could cause her to lose the child she is carrying. It becomes...more

Book 2 in a series. Highly entertaining. 4 and 1/2 stars

This is a world of vampires, shape shifters, witches, and demons. And they are at war with the Kurjans, evil night-creature vampires who want to steal mates from the other vampires and turn shifters into a werewolf slave class. Vampires can only mate with human females who have psychic abilities and, since these are rare indeed, every human psychic woman is in danger from the Kurjans. A "good-guy" vampire will only take one of these women i...more

"Claimed" continued the thrilling story of the Realm War against the Kurjans while focusing on the romance between King Dage and Emma. While the first book in this series, "Fated", focused on the relationship between Cara and Talen, we continued to learn about there story as well in "Claimed." I like this aspect about these books, it's a continuing saga where all the characters are still hugely involved in the story and we don't lose that bond developed in previous books. I gave this book 5 star...more

I love the inner plot with these books, but I continue to be appalled at the fact that all the Kayrs men feel the need to "break" their women. I was disgusted with Talen, but I figured I would go ahead and give the second book a try. Dage was wonderful at first, but the further you get into the book, the more of an @ss he becomes. Telling Emma he will break through her emotional walls with or without her consent (and at the risk of her emotional well-being) is ridiculous. Locking her in a room o...more

Dage is king of the vampires and ruler of the Realm. He has envisioned his mate for centuries, but when he was finally face to face with her she was even more than he had seen in his dreams. This fiery human would change his world, and he will take her and claim her at any cost.
Emma has always been the one to keep her and her sister safe, so when this big over barring vampire tries to come in and claim her she will fight not to fall in so deep. This may be more difficult than she thought consid...more

Kudos to you Ms. Zanetti, you have written another Hot, Sexy, Fasted Paced book. This book is a page turner and the Love Making scenes between Dage and Emma are scorching hot!! Dage is the King of the Immortal Realm and Emma is a powerful Physic Geneticist. Emma is also, the sister of Cara who was mated in book one to Talen Dage's brother. The Kurjans who are the evil immortals are trying to reverse the matting genes of the Vampire mates, so they can mate them themselves. Emma's Sister Cara has...more

I am loving this series more and more now!
In the first book - Talen seems more like a super human than a vampire. He only drinks blood during sex or battle, and it's only his super strong strength and quickness that Cara seems to get a little bit of once mated.

Now this story we have Dage - The KING of the Realm - Dage is MORE than an enhanced Human with special powers - Dage has a little bit of EVERYTHING! And not only that, he shares his blood with Emma when she gets hurt... That's a vampire f...more

While I loved the first in the series, this one really just seemed to repeat a ton of stuff. I get that Emma and Cara are sisters and are bound to have similar personalities. But with them both being so headstrong and against the mating in the beginning it just seemed repetitious to me.
This book in the series revolves around Emma and Dage. Emma is a scientist and Cara's older sister, while Dage is the King of the Realm and Talen's brother. Of course, Emma has visions, and while she has been se...more

This is the second in the 'Dark Protectors' series and tells the story of King Dage Kayrs and Emma Paulsen, psychic sister of Cara Paulsen. Dage knows that Emma is his fated mate but has to catch her first. Emma knows about the Kurjans and is running to avoid falling into their clutches. Luck runs out when she is captured and sent to a fellow Kurjan to mate with. Dage rescues her in a nick of time and so being the story of independent Emma and alpha King of the Realm Dage.

2.5 Stars. It was okay, I guess; but nothing special. The plot showed promise, but never fully engaged me. To be king, Dage seemed to have his powers held sharply in check by the prophets. Emma fluttered about and wrung her hands. There was sooo much talk about genetics and DNA that ultimately went nowhere. The book wasn't self-contained; it picked up from the first book and open-ended for the next book. The story was terribly cliché in places, and I ended up skimming a lot. The love story part...more

I am loving, LOVING, this series. Claimed has taken the Dark Protectors series to another level for me.

The second couple up to the bat are Emma and Dage. Emma is the sister of Cara who is the heroine from the first book. Dage is the king of the 'good' vampires. He is the oldest of 5 brothers and the only real diplomat in the batch. All of the brothers are a little vicious and have more power than I traditionally see outside of the Carpathian vampires.

In Ms. Zanetti's vamp world, the vampires ar...more

3 1/2-4* Dage is a vampire, and king of the Realm of supernatural beings. War has broken out with the Kurjans, the bad vampires, and biological warfare is being waged against the mates of the vampires and shifters. Emma is a geneticist who is working on a cure for the virus, and the king's reluctant mate.

Zanetti has a talent for writing heroes who are so alpha that they are jerks, and heroines who are so stubborn that they are annoying. And the heroines are always fighting their mating and tryi...more

This is the second book I've read in this series. I really like it. There's a lot going on, action, humor, emotions, and lots of magic/paranormal stuff. I like the creativity and imagination the author has and she really brings the book to life. I can't wait to read the rest of the series and find out what happens with the rest of the characters. Getting juicy with Caleb and Lily? That one's going to be really good. Yay Dage and Emma! Cara and baby have gotta make it. I'm already impatient for J...more

Better than the first. I found the Dage/Emma romance much more comfortable reading than TAlen/Cara even though Dage retains his super alpha male dominating personna. The action really picks up in this novel with war being declared on the Realm from three sides with a possible fourth soon to follow. Add in a deadly virus that threatens note only vampire mates but shifters too as well as a dose of internal betrayal and the blood and danger starts flowing almost non-stop.

Am definitely looking forwa...more

Okay I read this a while ago and can barely remember any of it. Pretty sure she was running from something. Okay yeah can't remember. I hated all of the 'prophets' she put into the story. All I liked that I can remember is the little girl from the last book who could meet this guy in her dreams and the bad guys son wanted her (despite her being really young wtf??!) Well I just want to know what's gonna happen with her story but I don't know if it'll be written soon/has been written as she obviou...more

“Shards of emotional green shot through Talen’s golden eyes. “He did it for my mate. Eating a virus that might kill him. For my mate.” A pebble skipped across the cement when Talen kicked it. “I don’t know whether to hug him or punch him in the face.”
Dage grinned. “Hell. It’s Kane. Do both.”
Talen returned the grin, then quickly sobered.”
