Bad Girls Need Love Too is a collection of covers of smut paperbacks from the 1960s. What more of a description do you need than that?

This book is almost 200 pages and I'd say maybe 20 have text on them. What little text that can be found is cheesy/smutty excepts from the novels. The rest are covers depicting women in varying states of undress. I could talk about the use of light and shadows or chiarascuro (which I know I did not spell right) but you know what you're getting into if you pick thi...more

I love propaganda. I love its extremeness and enthusiasm, even when that enthusiasm is applied to some of the weirdest ideas. I mean, propaganda has come up with some great images for women. There’s our girl, Rosie:

Rosie the Riveter

And then I’ll always love this one, which I think was one of my first avatars on goodreads:

My marxist feminist dialectic brings all the boys to the yard

And, then, we’ve got this whole bodice rippers dare going, so karen sent me this half-rad half-disturbing collection of pulp covers. Thank you, karen! It is pretty awesome as a collection of cra...more

When I bought it, I thought it was a collection of stories in one book. It's actually a book of pulp fiction covers and excerpts. I was a little disappointed, seeing as I wanted to read pulp fiction, but this book gave me a pretty good idea of what it is. A sexy, fun read.
P.S. I tried reading this on a bus, and people kept staring because it has large color photos of half-naked women. #embarrassing

I wish I had a time machine, that way I could go back and raid all of the drug stores and train stations that carried these wonderful little treasures of throw away exploitive literature and bring them back to the present. Pulp fiction covers are pure gold, they're seductive, trashy, and the art is amazing, it's crazy to think these dime store trifles had such creative, bold and dirty images. Their titles were awesome, who wouldn't want to read a book called Run, Lez, Run? I'm sure the only thin...more

According to Gary Lovisi, bad girls are "what mothers warn their sons to stay away from, and pray their daughters will never become." That phrase alone makes this book irresistible to a book lover/pulp enthusiast like myself. The titles of the books themselves are priceless, but the cover art (by artists like Paul Rader, Robert McGinnis and Robert Maguire and many others) is a great guilty pleasure, as are the excerpts from several of the back covers. Lovisi must have had a hard time narrowing d...more

I'm never quite sure what to do when it comes to rating books like this—in this case, a collection of lurid covers of pulp novels, mostly (if not all) from the fifties. It's very much a vertical-market piece; if the subject matter interests you, you want the book, and if it doesn't, there's not a great deal the book (this book, at least) is going to do to change your mind on the subject. Lo...more

This one is not aimed at collectors. It’s art for art’s sake for those who like this style of art. 190 pages of covers plus text that is either back jacket copy or excerpts from the novel to give a flavor of the style of the writing beneath the covers. Beautifully done but should have been coffee table size.

This was quite a nice collection of pulp covers. I've been starting a little collection of queer pulp novels and it was nice to recognise some familiar authors in these pages. I only managed to add a few books from here to my wishlist though as many of these were no longer availble. The passages that were copied were all rather silly. These mostly seemed more like bad porn than anything else. Still the covers were fun. There was even a biracial couple in the 60s which I'd never seen in a pulp be...more

Enjoyable but too short and not every book has a blurb.
