KLT23 by Missy Welsh is a futuristic erotic comedy that finds a new way to explore the ever-intriguing Pygmalion theme of a creator who falls in love with his creation. Set against the amusingly unromantic backdrop of both the spit-and-polish military and the abstract world of scientific research, the story has fun with the idea of sex as just another variable in the experiment.

KTL23 is a steamy e-book quickie told from the first-person point-of-view of a soldier who falls for the genetically engineered warrior that he's been guarding. When the man, who Horatio has dubbed Kelty, starts exhibiting symptoms of illness and the scientists believe the cure is sex, Horatio is more than willing to volunteer himself to “heal” Kelty. Thinking this was probably a one-time thing, Horatio wanted to keep some emotional distance between them, but I love how o...more

I needed a short read in between all those murder mysteries I stuffed my brain with; and this one turned out to be perfect. For only 22 pages, it infuses cuteness and sensuality, when Sergeant Horatio Muir "helps" a genetically super-soldier KLT23 (whom he endearingly called "Kelty") to cure the illness by having sex. As Kelty learns the gay sex, I have a big smile on my face, OMG he's so cute.

I realized that I haven't rated this story, so I had to read it again and it's still awesome. Sexy, funny and well-rounded short. Muir's voice is great and he and Kelty are fantastic together. My favorite quote: Jesus, God, and beautiful twinks everywhere!. XD
I want a sequel, but, so far, no such luck. Please, please, please?
Highly, highly recommended.

Usually I am not a big fan of short stories, as I tend to like longer narratives, but this story by Missy Welsh is perfectly constructed. I felt like I had a good grasp of the character's emotions and motivations (in only a few thousand words!) plus it was just so much fun to read. Highly recommended!
I really enjoyed this short hot story. It is rare that I feel like a short story has enough plot that I feel good about the sex (I am not a huge fan of PWP) but I enjoyed being in Muir's head and it felt like there was a real connection. Kelty was awesome too. I won't say why cause it would be a spoiler but he rocks. =)
3.5 stars. A cute short story that packs a fair amount of emotion and characterization within 20 odd pages.
Short and sweet, left me wanting to read more.

I will admit I put off reading this book because of the title and generic cover. The cover is used at MLR too much and the title KLT23 just didn’t appeal to me. I am saying that so that if you haven’t read it for the same reasons you’re missing out.
It was a cute short story that is probably half a sex scene but it was really intimate and enjoyable so I would recommend this

Romance has always been the main theme of her writing, even when she was twelve and concocting little tales for her friends. She grew up watching tough-guy action movies with her dad and stealing her mom’s romance novels, so it seemed perfectly normal to pair up the two and see what happened. As long as there are men being brave and falling love, Missy plans to fantasize about them— Um, she means...more
