Once I started this book, I couldn’t put it down! I worried that I wouldn’t like this book because the description didn’t instantly grab me but I had nothing to worry about. This was classic Mathewson.

I loved Edward and Dana as a couple. They had great chemistry and were a great team. This is tone time that there wasn’t much of a friendship before the couple got together and as much as I’ve enjoyed that in the past R.L. Mathewson books, the lack of friendship worked here. Don’t get me wrong, th...more

Dana knew that her life had come to a impasse, an unhappy marriage and two beautiful children who need unconditional love. When her novel is accepted she sees this as the opportunity she has been waiting for, she moves to California and begins a new life filled with love and acceptance. Now she has hit the big time but she still remains the tenderhearted woman she always has been and raises her children with a normalcy that is rare in Hollywood.

Hot Hollywood star Edward can't believe he has the...more

HUGE DISSAPOINTMENT.

I loved each and every scene of this book, each and every character, each drama scene, each twist and turn!

I just have to say that this book is lucky R.L. Mathewson knows hot to write funny scenes, because without them I would give it 2 stars.

I tried to love it, and it didn't work. Then I tried to really like it, and that didn't work either. I just liked it.

Reasons?

For me, the most important one - The characters: I just couldn't connect to them, at all. They met early in the novel, and soon after fell in love. You get to read that love, but you just can't feel it. I just read them to se...more

I really want to give this book more than 3.5 stars as so much about it was fab. I wanted to love it but I didn't quite get there. It was a bit like a Disney story but for adults, sugar sweet with a few sad, yummy and scary bits thrown in before the happy ever after. This is not necessarily a bad thing it just didn't feel REAL. Oh and R.L Mathewson is freaking hilarious but this book didn't have that "tears in your eyes belly laughing" thing going on. Well except for Edwards mum on a couple of o...more

OK this makes me sad. I am not even going to finish this one.
Let me just say I have read RL's A Neighbor From Hell series and LOVED them! Funny romantic and sweet. However this one? Too much rubbish crammed into it. I laughed out loud during the first "sex" scene and not in a good way. I will continue to read her books in the other series. It could be that this is one of her earlier works. Because it sure doesn't fit in with what I have read of her work before.

Boring, Boring! I was very surprised and disappointed, considering the fact that I like the rest of Mathewson's books so much. There is very little character development, especially with Edward. The reader just can't see who this guy is. On the opposite scale, the heroine Dana is simply unlikable and unrealistic. She goes from being embarrassed about her body to being the sexiest woman alive doing Maxim shoots in like one chapter. What happened in between there? Also, she does nude love scenes i...more

Oh hell, I actually loved this.
Once again, the plot attracted me so I thought I'd give it a shot, but what I didn't expect, was to be completely pulled into the storyline.
I'd try to read some more any chance I got (and they weren't many since school's pretty awful).
(view spoiler)[Cole and Elizabeth are the cutest little kids ever, and the way Edward acted around them and treated them just made him adorable- YES I KNOW HE'S A CHARACTER DAMN IT.
What I didn't - and still don't - get is why they had

This book was extremely unrealistic, but entertaining in its absurdity.

It should have been titled "Fame Gone Wrong" because so many crazy things happen to the celebrity couple in the book. I don't think a famous actress has ever been jumped by the fans of her famous actor boyfriend out of pure jealousy (especially while she's pregnant). That's just only one of many crazy things that happen to the celebrity couple during the one year period in the book.

And the heroine is more like a superwoman...more

I really enjoyed this book. Though i thought their relationship progressed very fast, for instance one day she says she doesn't want to rush into a sexual realtionship with him, as its been awhile and she wants to make sure she's inlove. Then they dont see eachother over the weekend and when they do finally get together alone they practically attack eachother.! Theres also the issue i have with so many unrelistic events happening to them every day.

Aside from that i...more

Damn great but.. wasn't it a bit too much?

There were lots of positive things so let's start with that...

I love how Dana and Edward found each other. Dana is a really hot heroine. Despite the fact that she came from a very bad marriage, she was still very strong and took care of her babies like a momma bear. I like it that she strived to make her self better. On the other hand, Edward is very sweet and very very charming. He's very considerate and thoughtful. He's also a dedicated guy. They were...more

There are a lot of elements of the story that I like. Two days later and I am still imagining Cole and his two twin brothers walking around shirtless
'cause that's what their dad or "real men" do. Little moments like this make the book. What this book needs is an editor. It was long for the content, it was choppy, especially in the beginning. The beginning was not good with the introduction of Dana and her soon to be ex-husband and previous lovers. It was flat and could have been sharpened and R...more

Okay, yes, I am devouring Mathewson's backlist. I haven't been writing reviews, which is bad of me, but I'd like to start this one with a general statement on this author's books (this is the third I've read... first two being books 1 and 2 of the Neighbors from Hell series... which were freaking hilarious):

While they would definitely benefit from a review by a copy editor (I'm guessing this editor is self-publishing these), I am really enjoying the books. The characters are fun and gen...more

I have read Ms. Mathewson's Neighbors from Hell series and loved those books, so I had high expectations for this one. I was extremely disappointed. If something could go wrong with this couple, it did. In fact, it was ridiculous the amount of disasters that occurred. I kind of even lost what the book was about because of the daily nightmares that they had to endure.

The book was poorly written and edited. I had not checked the published date, so I expect this may have been one of the writer's e...more

4.5 Romantic Hollywood Stars

At the start I doubt whether I will like this story, it begins with Dana, an unhappy married woman with boring husband. She turn to be famous author and get divorced after that.
It is getting better after she met Edward, a Hollywood heartthrob. I love how they become friends and get together. Edward is such a hottie. He is easily Mr. Perfect with all the loving and caring for Dana and her children - Cole and Elizabeth. It makes my heart melt how adorable Cole and Edwa...more

Another strong, smart, and beautiful woman from R.L. Mathewson Yeay!! Funny how you finally gain sooo much when you actually let go of something.. In Dana's case she dropped that dick of a husband and finally wonderful stuff started happening for her and to her!!

Totally LOL at Dana and Edward's tiff about working VS going out to lunch for a quick bite!! His sister Amy cracked me up!! He starts out being kind of a prick, but you can bet Dana changes his mind right quick!

Watching those poor kids w...more

I liked the story, is a bit long and repetitive, and definitely in need of an editor. The middle name of the Edward changes from the first time we read it when his Mom yells at him Edward Andrew Pierce to the second time we read it when the JP is marrying them and calls him Edward Thomas Pierce. This really ticked me off since how can an author not keep track of the name of her characters.
And how can the kids of this book stay the same age is unbelievable. When we meet them in chapter 1 they are...more

Dana Mathews is a single mum with two adorable children, she has hit the big time with her novels being published and the first book is being turned into a movie! The handsome movie star Edward Pierce is taking the lead in the movie with the stipulation he gets to co write a book with Dana. Whilst working together there is an instant attraction between the couple and they fall in love. There relationship is tested with constant media and fan attention!! That's what this story more focused on, me...more

Didn't like this one that much.I think the author just tried to do too much in the story. There were so many minor characters and I got them mixed up, for example Seth and Nick and Bret. There was a lot of action, including explosions and car crashes but it was very disjointed.

Dana's rags to riches story was overdrawn, making her a little too super human to completely likable. She also did some really dumb things like her decision to hide the fact that she was in labor. I was also really uncomfo...more

R.L Mathewson never fails to amaze me with her books. I've read Neighbor In Hell series, and now Hollywood Hearts. They always have humor and romance in her writings. I can't help but laugh my butt off to this book.

There's so many hilarious moments in here but I cracked out loud in this particular scene, where Dana, Edward and the kids went grocery shopping and the kid who works there went ballistic just to get a copy from the book aisle for an autograph! All women also went nuts! And the best...more

Ever since I've read the Neighbor from Hell Series, I have grown fond of RL Mathewson. This book has provided everything to be a great story. It made me laugh, gave me butterflies, it has a right amount of drama and love scenes enough to get some steam off the reader. It was no doubt that Edward and Dana were meant for each other. Dana truly deserved happiness from Edward and he clearly deserved Dana from all the cray things that happens everyday in his life.

I absolutely loved the fact that this...more

I'm sorry but A Humble Heart was mostly ridiculous. The main characters were too perfect and could do no wrong and the events involving crazed fans seemed over the top. There was too much going on. Every time the story calmed down a little there was a new incident, like a bomb or an accident or something else overly exciting.

The writing isn't good, even the sex scenes are badly written, the descriptions overly technical and not erotic at all. I also couldn't feel any real romance in this novel.

Really disapointing after reading her neighbour from hell series I was expecting so much more.
Calamity galore. There is no true character development, rather just a bunch of random things happening to them. And my, oh my, does stuff hapen .... so much in fact that the story becomes lost in the ridiculousness of varying traumas that are thrust upon these characters.
There are a few sweet and some funny moments, but they too become lost in the rest of the mess.
Overall, not worth the time. I'm upse...more

I really enjoyed reading this book. Normally, when you read about famous people one of the underlying topics throughout the book is pettiness and jealousy, and that so was not what the book was about. It was about having a loving relationship together for celebrities who actually have some down to earth sense, and did not let fame get to their heads. I loved the relationship between Edward and the children, and him and Dana have a few fabulous scenes! Thank you so much R.L. Mathewson for writing...more

Hello, my name is R.L. Mathewson :)

Before I tried my hand at writing I was a receptionist, cafeteria worker at the college I attended, museum worker, bellhop, and about a dozen other different things that are pretty embarrassing so we're just going to skip over those things and pretend that they never happened ;D

At some point I got a little direction in my life and tried my hand at emergency medic...more
