What kind of idiot changes the format and design of the third book in a trilogy?

Blood on Silk and Blood Sin, the first two books of Marie Treanor's Awakened by Blood trilogy, were published in trade size with stunning artwork on smooth silky paper, a delight to handle and behold.

Even after everything that has happened Elizabeth is still a bit torn between duty and love. Her and Soloman are made for each other and that has been apparent since book one. Elizabeth has always held herself a bit back and talked her self out of taking the needed steps to make the relationship work. This is another intriguing installment in the Awakened by Blood series and with it being the final release there's a lot going on to reach the conclusion. The storyline is full of political issues amongst the vampires, a new and very dangerous vampire being unleashed, and the recurring battle between hunters and vampires. As if all these battles weren't enough, there's the continuing relationship between Elizabeth Silk and her vampire lover Salomon which is still going through some rough times.

I have to say, the more I blog the more surprised I seem to get with each book I read. I really lived a very sheltered life within my world of books, I usually didn't go outside of my favorite authors and was quite happy to stay there, and then one day I finished the book I was reading and went to my shelf to get another and low and behold every obsessed readers nightmare.........my shelf was empty lol. I didn't have anymore books to read. So I said to myself "Away to the Internet to see if one...more I have to say, the more I blog the more surprised I seem to get with each book I read. I really lived a very sheltered life within my world of books, I usually didn't go outside of my favorite authors and was quite happy to stay there, and then one day I finished the book I was reading and went to my shelf to get another and low and behold every obsessed readers nightmare.........my shelf was empty lol. I didn't have anymore books to read. So I said to myself "Away to the Internet to see if one of my favorite authors has released anything new for me to buy". So off I go to the Sony ebook store and found some good books and happened to look at one of the reviews, which took me to the Goodreads website, which got me talking to some bloggers which brought me to having my own blog, which totally got me reading way outside of anything I usually read.

I have to say I have never been so happy. I would not have had the absolute privilege of a lot of very amazing authors. So here I am blogging as part of a book tour for Bewitching Book Tours and again I have found another amazing series that I am proud to recommend. So now that I have babbled on about my journey to this point lol (sorry lol) I will share my thoughts on this wonderful series.

Since I have read all three books, I am going to review as a whole set instead of individually :)
So to start with, we have two main characters which absolutely drew me right into their story, you can the pull and attraction they are fighting, especially since they are meant to kill each other. Marie does an incredible job at making you FEEL the attraction they have for each other. In the second book you see Saloman and him being so stubborn in not sharing his feelings for Elizabeth, and she keeps denying him, but also her loyalty of her feeling for Saloman, and so it carries on to the third book as Elizabeth gets somewhat obsessed with Saloman. It truly is a great love story you wont want to miss out on.

All three books are superbly well written, I was hooked from book one and couldn't turn the pages fast enough to get to book two, well if I wasn't hooked from the first book I was with the second and on to book three I went, I love Marie's writing style, it just flows so smoothly, she takes you right into their worlds with such description I almost felt like I was right there. The whole story is such a refreshing new story line and so exciting from page one to the end and into the next book and then the third, my advice is to make sure you have all three books when you start reading or you will find your self at the book store minutes before it closes to get the next one.

Now if I say anymore I will be giving away and spoil the story for you all and we all know how much I hate doing that to anyone, so I will be finished now and just say, go to the store now or online and order your set of this amazing series, I cannot wait for the next book. Elizabeth Silk has finally reached some sort of tenuous balance in her life - she has admitted completely to herself and to others that she is irrevocably in love with Saloman irregardless of whether he feels the same way. Happily, Saloman is making the effort to keep Elizabeth in his life even though they may spent time far apart. When Elizabeth receives word from the vampire hunters that Saloman’s cousin, Luk, was awakened by Dante, the ambitious US senator who craves power and dominion over all, she flies immediately to Turkey, not knowing the danger she’s in. As he slowly recovers his memory, Luk is half-mad and had been treated by Dante as a pet. Now Luk wants to exact revenge against Saloman, the vampire who killed him. When Luk discovers Elizabeth and her importance to Saloman, he shifts his focus to her. Can Saloman protect Elizabeth?

There’s a lot going on in this book. First you have the demented Dante and insane Luke running amok. Secondly you have Saloman and Elizabeth’s fragile relationship, thirdly Saloman is trying to convince the hunters to change their mindset and let vampires and humans co-exist peacefully, fourthly Elizabeth has a mysterious illness, and lastly, there’s another group of humans who are forming another vampire hunter club. All in all, this is a very packed story. With so much going on, the plot, with its multiple branches and subplots, does feel a bit rushed and chaotic.

The reason why I enjoyed the first book so much was the amount of focus the author placed on Saloman and Elizabeth’s romance. By the third book, I feel like the story has gotten out of the author’s control. There’s simply too much, which weighs down the pace of the story. I don’t mind reading about Luk, but Dante, despite being the main villain in the second book, didn’t appear much in the third book. There was so much going on I thought it was overkill. There were simply not enough room in the book for them, and I wished that the author had expanded the story or had another book or two in the series.

I wished more pages were devoted to Elizabeth and Saloman. I’m really glad that Saloman finally moved past the mindset that sex with Elizabeth is just sex. It’s nice to see him reciprocate some feelings back. To me, the first half of the book is the closest the two of them can get to a ‘real’ relationship between a vampire and a human. Overall, I felt the twists and storyline were a bit too pat and eventually...unsatisfying and bloodless. Towards the end, I keep having a sneaky suspicion that Treanor got too attached to her characters and just wanted a nice, easy happily-ever-after for them.

Blood Eternal is a decent conclusion to the trilogy, and I am happy about Saloman’s emotional growth in the last book, but I feel that it lack a certain ‘oomph’ that made the first book an amazing roller coaster ride.

The man sounds hauntingly like Saloman, which has Elizabeth wondering what he's up to. Next, she sees video of him telling Peruvian villagers to leave a day or two prior to a devastating earthquake. She realizes he's helping people, not trying to control them as she originally thought. Desperate to get to him, she's about ready to book the next flight to Peru when she gets word from the hunters that the Ancient Luc, has been reawakened and she's needed in Turkey. She knows what this news will do to Saloman, so she vows that she will be the one to put Luc back into his grave to save Saloman that pain.

Saloman feels when Luc is awakened and makes his way to Turkey. He discovers that Dante's had a hand in awakened Luc and is now teaming up with some very reluctant hunters to try and capture both Luc and Dante before things go really bad. But things go from bad to worse when Luc and Dante stir up the vampire community in a revolt against Saloman and his new ways. It's now up to Saloman, Elizabeth and the hunters to stop Luc before more blood is spilled.

This book will make you love Saloman. I was kind of on the fence with him, because he was such an arrogant ass most of the time. It always seemed like he was using Elizabeth for sex and/or blood, then discarded her afterwards. Sure, in Blood Sin, he did get a little better towards the end, but he was still all about him and not so much about Elizabeth unless she was right in front of him. He's different in this book. He's always thinking about Elizabeth, even when she thinks he isn't. We discover he's learned to close himself off from everyone since he was a young boy, because his father would use your secrets to punish you. To Saloman, if no one knows what you love they can't use it against you. But he's learning that closing himself off from Elizabeth is hurting her more than he ever realized and he changes...for her.

Elizabeth finally starts seeing that she has been a bit of a doormat to Saloman and starts to stand her ground with him, a little. She knows that she can never stay mad at him if she's right in front of him, but she does start walking away and giving them both time to reflect on whatever action Saloman has done to set her off. She learns that if she asks the questions or tells Saloman how she feels, things work out much better (for example: telling him about her job offer and finding out he's excited).

I wasn't in love with the ending to this. I was confused about what happened with Elizabeth when her new powers came into play (as I don't remember them being mentioned much before) and how that managed to stop all the bad vampires in their tracks. But I was ok with that, since for me the story was really about Saloman and Elizabeth resolving their differences to be together.(less)

Oh Marie...I love how the prior two books built and built a marvelous story line that EXPLODES into an action packed, romance. This was a satisfying conclusion (with an ending twist that was surprising and/or some-what inane!?!) to the Awakened by Blood series (trilogy?) Both Saloman and Elizabeth dug deep into their emotions throughout much of this story and were very open about their desires/dreams with each other and that left the reader on the edge in regards to just where their future relationship together would lead. For me, it felt like this book became a lot more serious about exclusively concentrating on Saloman and Elizabeth, which was refreshing since the last two books in the series really had them circling each other with no finial ending to their on-again/off-again liaison. We still get a lot of side-character interactions going on and different POVs thrown in, especially with the new baddie, Luk, being brought into the story. Expect impressive battle scenes, poignant surprises, and lots of witty telepathic conversations, but overall, expect an enjoyable read that leaves an opening for Saloman and Elizabeth's future story to pop-up within Marie Reanor's NEW Blood Hunter's series - Book # 1, Blood Guilt, coming early June 2012.

Likes: No matter how much she was persuaded, Elizabeth never gave up on both the Hunters and Saloman. Since she fought for/with both till the very end, she remained an unwaveringly faithful protagonist that was easy to like and cheer for, as a reader.

Dislikes: The relationship between Luk and Saloman feel somewhat flat. I was hoping/expecting a more detailed/elaborated back-story or, at least, a more thorough up-to-date tale about their current connection in the modern work which would have made their bond (and eventual fate) even more sorrowful and unfortunate. This was such an interesting character driven book and I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet Elizabeth Silk and Saloman. I hadn't read the other books in the series (yet) so at first I didn't quite understand the depth of their feelings and I thought their relationship strange. Now, to be asked to review an entire series, at least the first time, is a little daunting. The publisher was aces about sending the books out ASAP. (Side note: I definitely dug holding a book again! However, my Nook has been glaring at me for weeks...I am torn between two lovers.) All I could think was "What if it's crap and I have to wear waders through all three books??" *coughTheGirlWithTheDragonTattoocough* Look, that book scarred me and I haven't let it go yet.

But no worries, doves! This series is definitely one to add to the top of your TBR pile. Yes, its Paranormal Romance, but the writing and the characters are amazing and different - No fluff and nonsense for Miz Treanor! The world she's created is organized and anchored, her primary and secondary characters are heavy hitters, and nothing takes a predictable turn.
You need to read these books. End of discussion. The only complaint I have is that the trilogy is over.

On the Characters:

I heart strong characters! Especially when they don't do/say the predictable, mind-numbingly boring things you've read a thousand and one times. In the Awakened By Blood series you get both those aspects in spades.And its been far to long since I read a female character that doesn't simper or becoming simpering weenie when the big strong man enters the room. GO ELIZABETH!!! She's academic without being nerdy or a pushover, has a career path she chooses to follow even after vampires upend her life, and wants to be with Saloman because she appreciates and loves him.

Saloman himself is quite unique. While he's serious and focused, he also lives life in the moment, always has time for a little fun and frolic (and by frolic, y'all should know by now I mean the love scenes, are hot hot hot!) He also respects and encourages Elizabeth's strength and individuality. He's sexy and enigmatic with his own, albeit a bit twisted, moral code - An anti-hero if you like.

As far as their relationship/romance goes, its all angsty and sexy without being predictable and it is also anticpatory - the author doesn't give it to you all up front. Saloman and Elizabeth ultimately have to move past their own preconceived notions about themselves & the world around them to move forward in their relationship and I found that both fascinating and truthful.

Even the secondary characters of the hunters (Maeliah, Konrad, etc) and the vampires (Dimuitri and Maxmillian) are unique, eye-catching, and interesting.

On the Plot:
A new take on vampires as a race descended from a mysterious clan called the Ancients. Friendships and loyalties are tested. Vampire politics. The writing is perfectly paced, smooth and one hulleva ride. There's a lot going on in this series - Insane vampires and power hungry senators running amok, Saloman and Elizabeth's tenuous and fragile relationship, and Saloman's plan for a benevolent world domination with co-existence of vampires and humans at its forefront. Shelves: 2011-books-read

This is a great book. Its a worthy conclusion to the trilogy. I can only hope we get to meet these characters again soon. I have been hooked since I read the first book. They are well-written and fast paced with great characters that you really get to know and enjoy.

Elizabeth and Saloman have an unusual relationship. Both have the power to really hurt or kill the other, even know Elizabeth is human. By this point we have watched their relationship evolve over the course of the first 2 books. But...more

I thought about giving this book a four but I'm still coming away from this series having loved it so I decided that wasn't fair. It seems like the author dropped the ball on the delicious tension between Elizabeth and Solomon that was so juicy in the first two books. In this book the both seemed like awkward teenagers. I liked where the characters seemed to be heading and I wouldn't have been disappointed with more books.

This is the third book in Marie Treanor's Awakened by Blood series. It was ok. I liked it enough to keep plugging through and it was worth it in the end but the middle was terribly slow. I do wonder if there will be another one. There were certainly some ends left undone for another book.

i really really loved this series! i don't even know what else to say except, i want more NOW! honestly though, does anyone know if a fourth book is coming out. it seemed like the story could've concluded at where this book ended but i want more so badly.

I really loved this series and as a book I thought this was a great installment. I loved the way the characters grew together and I liked the supporting characters as well. This is a new author for me but I would definitely read something from Ms Treanor again.
