'In advising the heads of state to learn from tragedy rather than perpetuate its existence Robert Kennedy excalimed, "Tragedy is a tool for the living to gain wisdom, not a guide by which to live." We have a tendency to dwell on tragedy and use it as a justification for tragic occurrences that follow, rather than parse the tragedy, taking from it important lessons and using those lessons to avoid similar tragedies.'

My wife and I like to read in bed before we go to sleep. I have my book and she has her book. Last week she was reading `Tales From My Hard Drive' which was recommended to her by a friend. Every night she would pick it up and not long after she would be laughing out loud or have a big smile on her face. When she was done with it, she told me I should give it a read. I was sort of resistant; the story sounded like something only women could appreciate. My wife told me to give it 30 pages and if I...more
My girlfriend heard about this book from a podcast & after reading it told me that I had to. Now, this is not remotely the type of book I normally read. I'm a sci-fi fan who's been reading a lot of biographies & political stuff lately but my girlfriend was insistent. So I had no choice, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I started reading what I thought was going to be some type of chick-lit but was increasingly pleased to see a very witty & fresh take on age old themes of heartbre...more
Surprisingly good.

Megan Karasch’s Tales From My Hard Drive is a funny, erudite and quick read that will appeal to women shuffling through the dating game and those who have sought love through channels like eHarmony and Match.com. As someone who found her boyfriend in just such a way, Karasch’s novel immediately piqued my interest. I wanted a fast, hilarious ride with heart, and that’s just what she delivered.

I am a pretty busy person, but I love to read. As you can see from my history, I am not a big fan of chick lit and I never review anything. This book was recommended to me by a friend and I was a bit dubious at first. It was perfect!!! It is so clever and well written. I laughed out loud so many times. And the pages kept turning quickly until I unfortunately came to the end. I HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone who wants a witty, fun, and thoughtful read. I don't understand the 3 star ratings...more

Everyone else seems much more goga about this book than I do. It wasn't a bad read and I did want to stick around and see how it ended, but read more like someone's jounral than a book book. Maybe it was supposed to, who knows. The alliterations were often well done and interesting but not enough to make-up for the depressing plot line.
This book made me laugh out loud. The author has a really unique and authentic voice - she talks the way I think! Moreover, the topic is relevant. These days, who hasn't either tried or had friends who are online dating? I really enjoyed 'Tales from my Hard Drive' and recommend it without reservation!

I think it is amazing i like reading very much
Wow! I'm so happy I bought this book. Although I haven't experienced online dating, I have heard tons of stories from my online dating family and friends. I also know what it's like to live a double life, and so my heart went out to Melissa who tries to do the right thing by earning a living and living a life only to mess up when true love enters the picture.
A great tale about love lost, love gained, and love struggling to forgive and start again.

“The other problem is that she hasn’t arrived.”
“Oh, yeah? And who is she?”
“Well, she is a remarkable, funny, classy woman who can say the word fuck without being trashy. She makes me laugh, is ambitious, loves me because I’m nice, not in spite of it, and is as nice in return. She is simply enchanting.”
“Shooting for the stars there, aren’t you, pal?”
“Shouldn’t we all?”
I didn’t know anymore, although I utterly envied his romanticism.”
