Oui, bon, j’ai d’autres problèmes dont je me passerais bien...more

Betsy Taylor, the new queen of the vampires (and a most unwilling queen too, might I add) is back - and in need of a job. (Hey, designer shoes don't grow on trees, you know.) On top of needing to find - and then keep - employment, she also has the small problem of figuring out all the recent vampire murders.
Even though many people call this series a romance series, I just can't see the romance. Yes, Sinclair is head over heels in love with Betsy (though he has an odd way of showing it), and yes...more

I gave this book 7/10 on my blog, but Goodreads doesn't offer half stars.
I really loved the first book in this series, and although Undead and Unemployed didn't have quite the same impact as Undead and Unwed, I still really enjoyed it.
Undead and Unemployed starts roughly where the first book finished, albeit a couple of months have passed. Betsy is still trying to come to terms with her new status as Vampire Queen and the complete change of lifestyle. She is getting a little frustrated with her...more

Quick & Easy read, bad language in it, one way too descriptive and unnecessary scene. I don't think I can recommend it to anyone I know.
It was cute, and I wanted to know what happened after reading just a few pages. But now I want to read Twilight by Stephanie Meyer now, and hopefully that will be much better.
The main character is flawed but in an interesting, I can kind of relate to her way. At the same time, she really irritated me with her pathetic relationships and how her friends/boyfr...more

I usually rate a book a 4 out of 5 stars because I would consider buying it, but not at full price. This book would be an exception to that. I really enjoyed this book and it was nearly perfect, but I doubt I’d ever buy the series. I don’t see myself ever wanting to re-read these books, although I will continue on with the series because I do find them enjoyable.

What I loved: Simply put: the humor! This book was full of snarky, sarcastic, and quippy banter that had me laughing out loud. This second book had me laughing more than the first! In fact the addition of the Vampire Killers that end up on Betsy's side just made it so much fun. The addition of Betsy getting a job at Macy's for the shoes, made me giggle. The little girl ghost was a nice addition and let Betsy grow up a little. I loved the Sinclair and Betsy moments---especially towards the end of...more
OMG! With the events at the end of book one Betsy has herself in a bit of a situation that she is not happy with though why not I haven't figured out. It is funny and I'm throughly enjoying all the drama.
I find it truly hilarious that Betsy's dream job is to sell designer shoes and what is even funnier is that she's good at it. Of course, she's a little biased because at times, if she doesn't think the customer will really take care of the shoes, she tries to discourage them from making the purc...more

This is the second story in the Undead series by MaryJanice Davidson and it was a good follow up to Undead and Unwed.
We again meet Queen Betsy Taylor, reluctant Vampire Queen who has a shoe fetish (a little like my own) and her entourage consisting of her human friends ultra wealthy Jessica and Dr Marc and her Vampire mates the dishy Eric Sinclair (Finklair when she is in a bad mood with him, which seems to be a lot of the time) and Tina.

Vampire Queen Betsy Taylor won't let a little thing like being undead keep her from getting a job. She manages to land the perfect job for her, selling designer shoes at Macy's. She'd be happy if she could just work at Macy's and forget the vampire stuff, but someone is killing off vampires and the other vampires want their Queen to stop the killing. When Betsy herself is targeted, she is able to identify and catch the would-be killers, but even they don't know who their ringleader is. Betsy, he...more

So, Betsy still doesn't want to be queen and is avoiding Sinclair and Tina as best as she can. She decides to get a job because she doesn't want to live off of Jessica forever. Next thing she knows, she's hired to work in the shoe department at Macy's and Jessica and Marc find a big new house for them that is haunted by the ghost of a little girl.

After reading Undead and Unwed, I thought Sinclair was a hero with jerk tendencies. Now after finishing the second book of the series I'm feeling like Sinclair is filtered through Betsy and he's not as much of a jerk as I first thought.
I realize that the reader only sees Sinclair from Betsy's point of view since the whole book is from her perspective, but throughout the whole book I kept feeling like I wasn't getting to know Sinclair at all. The author does a really good job broadcasting Jessic...more

Betsy Taylor, Queen of the undead, has snagged a dream job in a shoe store (just like a normal person!). But when vampires start getting killed off, Betsy enlists the help of the sexy vampire Sinclair. Now she's really treading dangerous ground-but this time in brand-new high heels.
My Review

From the first page to the last, this book was hard to put down. When I first read about this series, i was skeptic about how much I would be interested in it. I mean, a vampire queen that wants to live like a human? Yeah, right. But here I am into my second book, and I'm obsessed. I began this book yesterday, and I've already read it. It was impossible to put down!

Gahhhh, finished yet another book in this series!! I can honestly say that I am still obsessed with Betsy and all her friends.
Betsy and Sinclair are perfect for each other. They have a witty banter between the two of them which I think is adorable. Sinclair is a bit over-protective of Betsy. He's infuriating and likes to boss Betsy around, but you can tell that he really likes her. The whole book I wanted to smack Betsy and say 'girl, it's obviously that you like him...just admit it!' I was pushing this to give it 3 stars. If I didn't crack up a few times at the end of the book, it would have been 2 stars. How can I relate a book to watching a really cheesy 80s TV show or movie? Maybe it was the audio book performance? or the director? I don't know. Part of me thinks that if I read the book I might have enjoyed it more, but I'm on the fence about that.

Cute, mindless vampire trash novel. But still fun and I am finding I am enjoying the series. Betsy returns in Undead and Unemployed to find herself working at the Macy's shoe department and loving it. Only to have her plans dashed by Sinclair, a rogue vampire aiming for her title of queen, a love sick vampire slayer, and a boss that tries to help kill her. Still humerous with no point the books are a lot of laughs.
As I stated in my review of Undead and Unwed I would give the second book of this series a try to see if Betsy gets any less annoying.
No No she does not in fact I think she gets worse. In this the second book Betsy gets a job at Macy's. She is working in the shoe department, right up her alley. She soon learns that someone is killing vampires and it is her job as the Queen of the Vampires to figure out who is doing it and stop them

Really.. really... awful...
Man, left such a bad taste in my mouth.
I really don't like NOT finishing books I start, but...try as I may, could NOT finish all the way. Too unbearable. Felt like my brain cells were dying with each untastefully written page.
When I found myself procrastinating so I wouldn't have to read the book.. I knew something was wrong. I just expected so much. Was led on really from the 1st book.
I was so disappointed, the 1st book was so entertaining, fresh, and nicely paced.

Betsy Taylor, the newly crowned Queen of the Undead is back and in need of a job. After an unsuccessful visit to the unemployment office, Betsy heads to the Mall of America and lands a pretty sweet job, working at the Macy's shoe department. A shoe fanatics dream job!

When I'm reading these books I just find I can't put them down until I have finished them. This one, like the first was no different in the aspect and I finished it only a couple hours after I started it.

Have I mentioned before how much I love Sinclair? He gets even more swoonworthy in this second book about Elizabeth "Betsy" Taylor, the unlikely vampire queen. In this installment we discover Sinclair likes strawberries, but doesn't much like the idea of his queen working nights in the shoe department at Macy's. Even if there are new Pradas out.

Ok, this one started out not so great for me. I would say it started out slow but it wasn't that. But I almost quit it several times. I'm glad that I didn't though.
My biggest complaint (pretty much my only complaint) about this series is that in the previous book and in the beginning of this one, our heroine, Betsy, can't seem to make up her mind about Sinclair.
As a refresher, Betsy has recently become a vampire. She's a modern girl with modern ideas and she's not interested in undead politics o...more

I am so sick of Vampire books... except for these. These are really witty and funny. They are light, quick to read, and (repeating myself) witty. The usual elements of vampire books are in this book. They include: a bit of mystery, a bit of passion, and a bit of supernatural violence (emphasis on the bits). It is told in first person narrative, so we get to see what Betsy the new Vampire Queen thinks of nearly every pair of shoes she sees people wearing. While that might seem tedious, Mary Janic...more

I found the first "Queen Betsy" book at a Goodwill. It was 50 cents, or some ridiculously cheap price. I anticipated it would be horrible. To my surprise, I found it hilarious, oddly compelling, and thoroughly enjoyable.
The second book fared the same. I never really think a book could be funny - and these are probably the funniest I've read. I would probably laugh out loud, if I wasn't so absorbed.
This doesn't get a fifth star for me, because it's so...basic? I suppose? It is exactly what it s...more

Undead and Unemployed is the 2nd book in Mary Janice Davidson's Queen Betsy Series. Elizabeth Taylor - a.k.a. "Betsy" - a.k.a. Her Majesty, Queen of all Vampires - has had a rough couple of months.
